The features with the radio and rest Mercedes Benz has placed in the cars for many years, I've owned various models over the years and even my 1995 S320 and 1995 C280 both have these features. The S320 has the soft close option including the trunk assist. It also has double pane glass which many people mistake for bulletproof glass but it's not
All European cars allow the radio to be switched on without the key. If someone is waiting in the car or you just want to listen to some music while cleaning you don't need the key. I don't know why other cars didn't to it. After several minutes it turns off itself based on battery voltage. Same for the rest function. Also, the screen of the navigation moves to reveal a CD and cassette player behind it. And if you hold the recirc button when windows are down and release it once the windows start moving, they all close. Do it again and the all open back to the original position.
I liked your video! I have an S500 and I was curious to see if you would list anything I didn’t know about. I agree about the cup holder! It works still to this day but the wood trim piece fell off the door that opens to release the cup holder in mine so I had to re-secure it. The little handle on the trunk is a nice little feature. You’re right about the “massaging” seats, nothing compared to today’s seats, but if you turn on the warmer and use that pulse feature it is wonderful.
Your PSE (pneumatic systems equipment) pump is running too long for the soft close features of the doors and trunk. Once the door or trunk boot “soft close” they shouldn’t only retain pressure for about 1.5 seconds before the pump releases the pressure. Hence why the back couldn’t be opened right away without pulling the handle twice to manually override the pump. Also the chrome pull handle on the trunk should have retracted just after the trunk was sucked down and made its final click as the lock engaged. These are all classic symptoms of a failing PSE pump motor, or the timing sequence has an issue. There is a way to adjust the the time the pump runs once the soft close feature is activated through the time door or trunk is closed fully and till it releases. Very complicated. But 9 times out of ten the pump itself is failing and will need replaced. They usually run around 1200 to 1400 bucks and will require dealer coding tot the vehicle. Also the rear climate control REST feature does not provide you control of the temperature unless the engine is running. Cause you can’t produce cool air with the ac compressor going. The REST feature is designed to allow the fans to blow at the lowest speed setting for around 15 minutes after with the engine off. This provides warm air to circulate through out the cabin using the residual heat from the heater core. The heater works by circulating the hot water from the coolant into the heater core on HVAC system. But once the engine is off the coolant begins to cool down hence why it runs for about 15 minutes before automatically shutting off . That and to keep the battery from dying. It really is amazing what Mercedes gives in the s class that isn’t even specified as an option. So many drivers don’t know these neat features of their cars. The s class is truly the most amazing car around and has been for generations! Hope you enjoy it for years to come! Get that PSE pump fixed, and just hope you don’t ever end up with automatic suspension problems. Those struts are about 1200 bucks each at the dealer but you can get them from other suppliers for less and they are the same quality. Definitely find a great Indy mechanic specializing in Mercedes otherwise one repair at the dealer can be as much as the entire car is worth. But don’t be scared of it. They are great machines long lasting reliable. They just have maintenance needs that can’t be overlooked. And the occasional random thing that breaks and can be expensive.
Mercedes has a lot of neat features that owners don't know about. Like the one where holding the recirculation button closes all windows. Or tapping the brake pedal in models from 2006 up to activate the hold function.
Rest button keeps your heat/ac on for no longer than 30 minutes while monitoring your cars voltage. It will not allow your battery to drain. I use it all the time in the summer to keep car cool when I'm running errands
Luckily, with this car, if you run the radio with the car off or with the key turned to acc, a message will come across the radio screen to tell you to start the car before the battery is about to die, and it also makes a sound to get you to look at the screen. It will run for a long period of time before it dies, though! I have an 06, and that's what mines do. Although your 04 has more than mine does since mines is a base amg!
Easy to talk about this car like it ain't " that much " it sounds like you never struggled a day in your life to work to have a car like this. These cars are a dream to poor folk extremely and the options this car specifically a s55/s65 amg has things a HUGE MAJORITY OF CARS ON THE ROAD TODAY DONT HAVE!!! MR " BACK IN 2004 " THIS CAR IS A FUCKING GEM FOR 2004
Hello. First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to watch this video and to leave feedback. Just to clarify here, the whole point of this video was to explore the weird features of this car as stated. Like you had mentioned above, this car has weird features that most cars on the road today don't have which is what makes it unique and video-worthy. Secondly, I work very hard for all of the things I have. I work a full-time job and hard work pays off as I am so lucky to be able to own one of my dream cars. I do not mean to come off as being pretentious at all and I am sorry if I was offensive.
@@KylePantano I didn't mean to sound hostile my man!! I'm on my way to getting a s55 amg myself i also wanted to ask if you had the distronic active cruise control option???? I see u have the the parktronic option!! That's also a rare find many of these w220 bodies barely came with distronic (active cruise control, basically on your dash board shows like a little animation of how close the car in front of you is getting and the car slows down while in cruise control u practically only have to steer!) And it all reads from a little sensor placed behind a little plate that goes right on the grill!! Not sure if u have or not !! parktronic (parking meter sensors) the ones u have!! Which not all s55's came equipped with (03-06) Which is small production years compared to most cars on the road as welll And last but not least u should look into the all four seat power option versions, thats the option that comes with the version im about to purchase it gives all four seats the option of reclining & heated/A/C So every seat in the car has the options only the driver & front passenger side seats and doors only have in a casual Benz I've been in cars that only the driver seat had a power seating option while all other seats were manual
@@KylePantano no way, poverty spec s class. mine has those options. i just wish it had more power. 300 bhp is ok till there is some young lad with a tuned diesel vw golf who can just ablout sit on my rear bumper.
An actual AMG S Klasse mit Supercharged motor but no mention of that? Nothing on the adjustable suspension? Nothing on the self-dimming sideview mirrors? Strange.
Yea because the abc system sucks they cost to muck to repair and it’s better to get coil overs with front and back sway bar endlinks lower control arms lower arm springs etc
No they don't. None of the W220's do. I think the Maybach and the W221 (at least some models) did have two batteries. W230 has 2 batteries: Electrical system battery in the trunk. Starter battery in the engine bay. W129, W170, W202, W208, W211, W220 have one battery, located in trunk. W209 has one battery, located in the engine bay. W210 sedan has one battery, located under the rear seat.
It's a shame every tom prick n hairy arses try to look for blemishes in a mercedes. Why buy the car anyway? Theres no production car out there that will ever beat an sclass. They've all tried n failed. The fragrance and feel of a merc is 2nd to none.

I feel like it uses the heat from the engine after you stop
@@Dontgo2slow22 yea could be cause it's definitely not circulating antifreeze through the heater core when the car is off.
The "rest" option is also useful if you have losts of moisture in your car
