Locust are terrifying, you often forget how dark and dangerous they are as a lone foot soldier could take out more then himself, they have sharp claws to stab you Teeth to tear you and strength so strong they can literally tear off limbs and the trailer shows how strong a regular one is as its picks up Marcus, a guy in full armor and made of pure muscle near effortlessly
I really want this game to bring back that hopeless dread of fighting locust that was present in gears 1 and 2. Watching them shrug off bullets and flood to your position to overrun you is still to this day some of the most intense PVE shooting I've done in any game
The thing about prequels with series that get so much mileage out of tone and implications is that when you chose to tell thst story if it isn't as bleak and f'ed up as the players imagined it will likely come up as a disappointment. They really have to deliver some things nobody even considered here, go above an beyond to depict how scuffed the situation is.
Honestly since this is the start of e-Day and the cog is coming off of the pendulum Wars so it's going to be a its peak during the locus wars I hope the game starts off the more positive attitude before becoming more and more bleak

My dad was taking me to the video store, and I asked my buddy what game I should rent, he told me to get Gears of War if they had it. he said it looked kind of fun. Last copy and I had to break into my birthday money to put a deposit on it to rent, it was so new. Me and four of my buddies took turns co-oping through the campaign and 1v1ing each other for like 3 days straight. I'm beyond hype for this game.
I was legitimately terrified watching this scene and thought Marcus was gonna die. But then I remembered the title of the game and remembered it’s a prequel. Still had me scared shitless though.

I think 4 and 5 are honestly underrated. 5 had a good campaign and I think it was worth the try with their open-world stuff for the campaign and it wasn't bad at all. If they did do 6 after this game and they learned where to improve I wouldn't mind it coming back but that said I would rather they make a hybrid with the linear stuff
4 and 5 weren’t really that good For starters it’s dumb how they tell us that the device of Adam fenix didn’t really work, and also how they don’t tell us how Anya died It would also be hard to make a gears of war 6 when 5 on the story mode we have to make a choice who lives Marcus son or the other guy (how would that effect the next game?) who really survived in the actual game? 4 and 5 didn’t really show any scary effects or pop outs like the old gears of war game We all were scared when we saw the first time seeing a berserker in gears of war 1, now gears of war 5 just downgraded it to being weak by shooting it on the back and making hit fall on the ice

I hope we get to see a young Tai Kaliso fighting side by side with Marcus Phoenix, I think lore wise the Lancer rifle was made based off of Tai using a chainsaw taped to his assault rifle on a locust or something along those lines 🤔
I feel like Gears 4 and 5, while not perfect, do still have some interesting story potential behind them and with how 5 ended I feel like we're about to get into some wild lore reveals about the newly evolved Locust Horde.
Im one of the few Gwars of War fans that loves Gears of War 4 & 5 (or Gears 5, technically) more than the original quadrilogy. (I consider it a quadrilogy because Judgement was already out by the time I discovered the Gears of War series. So I played all four of them back-to-back.) That being said, the next entry looks interesting to me still. And I look forward to playing it day one.
It almost looks like the gears ( Marcus and Dom) havent got the Genetic modifications yet. I would love half through it we get them and come out the huge grub killing machines.

Tbf to Marcus this has gotta be one of the first drones he fights and probably the first one he fights in cqc. He fought in the pendulum wars right? I think anyway. I know he fought in a human vs human war. But that was against humans, the vast majority of which are smaller and likely physically weaker. From this video the drone is a little bigger and slightly taller than Marcus so it's arguably the first time he's fought something bigger and stronger than him. On top of that the Drone picked him up and pinned him to the ceiling like it was normal. Crazy. But yeah, cinematic looks awesome I hope the gameplay lives up to it.
The problem with 4 was that they just knew too much to be scared. They knew how they worked, how to best fight them etc. the pain of my forefathers gave me strength and all that. In this case they know jack didily shit. Plus they just finished a massive war. Their unprepared, beat to shit and now also completely in the dark
The only thing im worried about is that we might have to wait till 2026 for gear of war e day, which im not complaining about, but it would suck to wait a bit longer

When the trailer released, I was so ecstatic. I took it upon myself to start playing the other games until this releases.
Gears has always been one of my favorites since I was young. This is gonna be legendary
