I think that's what they were going for here in this trailer, make them scary af again lol

The locust are enhanced humans like they are basically like the first comment said super soldiers I like the fact they are sticking to the lore locust aren’t meant to be fought in close quarters due to their one enhanced physicality just the average drone is above 6ft or taller and they definitely are stronger than even mountains of men like barrick tai Cole etc then the fact they have extremely thick hides and eyesight that can see in total darkness in every way shape and form they literally are enhanced
Did you notice that delta squad members were way bigger than normal soldiers? I think cog did experiences on the best soldiers that turned them into huge strong super soldiers, Ben carmine and a bunch of others were way smaller than delta
I loved this trailer. No stupid music or silly humor, no cheesy dialogue like "It's good to see you again, Dom" or some shit like that. Just a dramatic fight with that sad underlying music and his buddy saving his life, while they both endure the apocalypse. Simply epic

When dom grabbed Marcus's hand and that pinao started playing...I started tearing up
I thought I was the only one tearing up when Marcus arm was grabbed and was revealed it was Dom! I was screaming “it’s Dom!” And the tears were welling in my eyes.

I hope the rewards don't end up grinding to the point it feels like a job that you don't get paid on. Some of the stuff seriously just got ridiculous as hell. They need to make sure they dial back on that moving forward. Of some of the stuff is going to take a year to get. They need to make damn sure they make the game fun every step of the way.

Really hope this feels like the original Gears, I didn't dislike 4 & 5 but they weren't nearly as dark.
This trailer says it all, they listened to our feedback and this brings Gears of War back full throttle.
@@CaffeinatedAlien I was able to forgive Gears 4 and 5 for that. It uses 3 new protagonists that never got to experience the full horror of the Locust horde. Hell by the first Gears game the COG had been fighting the Locust for 14 years! Even by Gears 5 James and Co are still green by comparison. After the ending of 5 though you can tell no matter which ending is the true ending you know Gears 6 set itself up to be super dark. Here's hoping.
I didn't think I needed to see a young Marcus going head to head with a locust grunt, but be damned I now fully think I needed that lol.

@@Generalphoenix8438 that happened a year into the war though. Unless this game has a time jump, it’s going to retcon everything established about the Mk2 lancer. I’m not optimistic that this game is going to follow the existing lore much at all.
I'd love more of Barrick too but idk if they will include him this early. Him and Tai are two of my favorites
Is Barrick the dude with the cigar? I would always play as him in gears 3 when the Raam dlc came out
If they keep this game consistent with the books he’ll be there and plays a vital role in the creation of the lancer.
Gears are supposed to be the biggest and baddest of humanity, Marcus being close to the biggest and baddest of them all. And yet, he still gets ragdolled by what is basically some random, mass-produced drone. It truly shows how physically dominant the Locust are.
Tbf this is young Marcus we see how beefy he gets by gears 3 damn near the size of that locust in the trailer

Man, the calm, gentle vibes given off when Marcus and Dom reunite, is everything. Dom gives Marcus security and safety and you can feel it when Dom is watching him put on his Do-Rag
Even more so Dom looks to Marcus as an older brother. Marcus and Carlos were best friends growing up.
Really puts a spin on how we see the Locust. These guys are actual monsters, 7ft tall (A bit more than 2 meters or so) built like body builders, but absolutely able to use that strength effectively in a fight.
The Gears should absolutely struggle in close quarters with them, especially if it go's hand-to-hand.
I don’t remember the last time I’ve watched a game trailer multiple times. I’ve seen this over 10 times now it’s so freaking good
The way the locust soldier is depicted in this trailer is straight up unsettling i cant imagine having to fight something like that especially during the outbreak of e day this is not a enemy people was used to fighting
especially with basically 60s earth technology
Something stuck with me is when queen would talk about the days after Eday. Saying gears tried the best to fight back…but they lost. Just way it was narrated u could tell she had respect for them fighting back.
I hope we get to see Anya return and hopefully a Carmine will appear

This makes my inner child so happy. And in the shot when they’re face to face with Marcus against the wall Marcus looks a lot like JD thought it was a nice touch idk if they was on purpose tho
I thought the same thing. In 4 & 5, I just didn't really see much resemblance between the two of them, and I chalked it up to JD getting more from Anya. But here you can see the resemblance on full display and it's well done imo
That’s amazing though! They made him look like JD while still looking like Marcus.
Got to love how a instrumental version of Mad World plays when Dom shows up obviously referencing to the last time we saw him when he sacrificed himself to save everyone in Mercy
Seeing Marcus get tossed around like a rag-doll was...disturbing. But seeing him triumph in the end was inspiring. Sure, we all KNOW the locust are just that much bigger and stronger than humans, but Sgt. Fenix get manhandled just drives home what a brutal struggle the locust war is, and E-Day took place 14 years before the events of GoW 1.
It just shows what a badass Marcus and the other Cogs are for having survived so long against such a horrifying and merciless enemy.

exactly what the series needed, sort of a soft reboot by just finally making a proper prequel does just the trick. can’t fn wait!
It does not need a reboot cuz that discards the original games….
This isnt a reboot tho, its just earlier in the timeline
By focusing on past events in the story, it could be considered a soft reboot. We get to see our favorite characters back in a familiar setting. We all it's not a full on reboot,but it feels like it.

I love how strong they make the locust look and feel. They were a force to be reckoned with for sure but then so were we. Even playing on hardcore and insane you could still hold your own. But here the locust picking up Marcus like nothing and basically almost kicking his ass with just his brute strength and bare hands is crazy and that's exactly how the locust are explained in the books and throughout the game which we needed to see not just hear
I remember when I bought this game on Christmas, I didn’t know anything about it. Now I am pushing 30 and I am brought back to the whole nostalgia of Gears 1-3 and all the replays I did throughout the years. Incredibly fun times, can’t wait to play this one!!

@@longlivetheblackmamba2-8-24 the kryll were a major part of e-day, actually the kryll are why e-day was so successful for the locust. We may not see too much of RAAM maybe a cameo but we will definitely be dealing with the kryll again

@@jeremiahcooper9125 it’s spelled “Myraah” and we could hear her similar to how we heard her in gears 1 when raam killed Kim but I doubt we’ll see her tho. With raam likely he’ll be a cutscene or maybe playable like the raam shadow gears 3 dlc
I hope we see Aspho Fields and Carlos. Seeing Marcus and Carlos in armor like the "Aspho Fields" book cover, seeing Anya's mother die, seeing Tai be the ultimate badass, and seeing Carlos go down fighting to save his brothers... THAT'S the pivotal moment of Gears lore. And Gears 4 only showed a sanitized form of Dom's side of it (and in Hoffman's defense, since it's his flashback, the man's old and he's been through a million successful missions that overlap in memory).

It might be harder too because in lore the retro lancer’s bayonet was never able to penetrate locust skin, I love how the lancer we all know and love wasn’t developed yet too so this is gonna be a different war for us gears now. Such a masterpiece and it isn’t even out yet

I was about to sleep when I heard about this trailer's release. Ended up spending another hour awake just to watch the video about 3 or 4 times and pausing to see the details.

Yes after 14 years of fighting on the front lines
Marcus only served 4 years in prison before Dom got him out in Gears 1. This means Marcus fought the locust for 10 years before he was jailed. Unlikely a game called E-Day is going to squeeze 10 years of time in. That would also mean we wont get more pre-Gears-1 games, which would be a bad business decision.

Man, if there’s one thing im excited for, it's seeing who the new squadmates are gonna be. Obviously, I'm gonna miss Baird and Cole, but it would be sick to see Tai or someone else who we didn’t get that much of in the games

This is gonna be good. One thing that I want to point out tho is people are asking for a lot of things but a lot of the things we love happened later in the series. Like Marcus meeting raam, the debut of the Theron’s etc. only time will tell
I'd just like to say that at this point in the time line, Marcus and Dom were best mates for years. He might have been closer to Carlos. But he always saw Dom as a brother😊

Honestly when i saw this trailer i was excited, not only that but the fact we're gonna fight on E-day is definitely what excited me because there's a lot of potential to see the perspective on how the COG, Marcus and Dom trying to deal with an unknown enemy at the time.
My favorite part of the trailer was Marcus we never seen struggled him before he always a man with upper hand ALWAYS but this trailer shown us that even the strongest man can struggle
I really hope for more around the pendulum wars. Aspho fields mission would be amazing.

@chrisb9377 Gears of War 1. When our heroes meet up with Cole and Baird, they get ambushed and retreat inside the Tomb. They hear a Berserker and Marcus asks "What was that". Then Baird tells him it's a Berserker. The first time Marcus encounters one.

Growing up Gears of War 1 was one of if not the very first game I ever played on Xbox. I remember being so terrified of the bezerkers. I haven’t felt a rush of nostalgia as strong as I have watching this trailer. I am so excited

I even gave Tactics a second chance and am actually having a better time with it. I've never been more excited about the future of Gears! Brothers to the End!

I loved how it showed how brutal the locust were. Gears 1-3 showed it. The hive just doesn’t cut it for me.
Hopefully we get to see Halvo Bay and Hear Bairds Voice in the Radio as we try to evacuate Wounded cogs. Like that mission from Gears of War Judgement.
I feel that the part of Marcus slamming the TV into the drone makes me think we may get some environmental interaction in this game. Like maybe you can perform executions based what you are standing by when it happens, like slamming a TV or maybe the infamous power saw that Tai used to kill a drone.

Once again, Gears of War grabbed me by the emotions and just pulled as hard as it could and won the fight...I was a kid when I played the first three, and to this day it's my favorite series
