My list (much like yours) of top things to get on a touring motorcycle to actually tour on would be… 1) tool kit. I’m no mechanic, but sometimes you need a minor fix to get you to where you’re going. 2) tire plugging kit. Used that on a recent trip doing the Trail of Tears ride. 3) bags. I own an Ultra Limited, but I like having bags I can carry into the hotel. 4) highway pegs. Like you said, it is a must to have other options for positions to sit in. 5) lights. Front and back, get it lit up and visible so you can see and be seen.
this was a very good video for me. I'm new to harley and have a 2020 glide standard. thanks for sharing. Your mentioning of the trips you went on was good too, meaning you are experienced. Thank you for sharing!
I bought a new 2019 street glide sp. It has 40700 on it. I got the color matched king tour pak. If my bike sits longer than a day or two I put it on a trickle charger. My last bike I did the same thing and the battery lasted 8 yrs. In Sept. I got a rear flat. No plug kit. No air compressor. After getting it towed to the nearest dealer and getting the tire replaced I got home and got myself a plug kit and compressor. I most always carry my rain gear. I have a two person tent. It's just me but I unload my gear (except what's in the saddle bags and tour pak) and put it in the tent. I also put my seat in the tent. That way you have a dew free seat in the morning. And if it's been raining I stand the seat up in the tent and let the moisture drain to one end and have a fairly dry seat in the a.m. I also carry an atlas even thou I have a smart phone and the gps on the bike. I started out sleeping on an old army mattress pad then latter bought an air mattress to put on top of the pad. What a game changer. I keep up on my maintanance which of course is important. Klock werks wind screen was the first thing I added and I love it. Highway pegs are a must too like you said.
$25k “new” more like $35k on the road new w/tour pack, heated grips, pegs, windscreen…. Otherwise…. Love the video from tclocs to mentality to loctight to tender to planning. Nice color too…16-18 paint options were cool. Thx for PIF, I’ll subscribe

My shifter rod broke and used electrical tape as a temp. fix. My friend carrys the ends because they all brake sooner or later. I always take gum as I ride, helps me stay sharp. Always have rain suite with me. The quick disconnect @ my fuel tank started leaking. There are 2 o rings that need to be replaced when this happens. Will need a qualified tec to do this repair. Real good advise to keep an eye on your fluid levels and change when they are do. Never leave your leather bungied to your bike, someone will steal it when your in the bar.
