  • @calsfishing2620

    I have a 21 street glide special, I do many many kms all over Australia and am on my bike most days.
    I agree with upgrading the seat or at least getting gel put in the standard seat. I have kept my handlebars standard, I find them comfy plus I have added heated grips and keeping the hand grips behind the fairing makes a difference especially in very cold weather, your hands are protected from the wind. If you have raised bars more than 12 inch your hands become exposed to wind.
    I also had legend air same as yours , they let me down big time…where the compressor is mounted under the engine there isn’t enough room and components on the compressor rub on the engine sump due to vibrations, the outlet air fitting rubbed through creating an air leak there for I couldn’t retain air pressure and shocks would go down within minutes…problem was I was at the Barkley homestead in the Northern Territory 1000kms plus from anywhere, had to ride 1000kms with no rear suspension because air leak couldn’t be repaired there….Very painful ride. End result will NEVER compromise reliability again with Air suspension. Dial in standard shock properly or invest in better quality mono shocks.
    Stage 2 cam (447) torque and stage 2 music are a must in my opinion…..massive massive difference worth every cent.

    • @TheHarleyRoadshow

    • @jayonez137
      @jayonez137 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is what it is.
      Like or not.
      It’s up to you at the end of the day.
      They will be coming out with a HD performance bagger eventually (maybe a 131) and maybe then we will see upgraded suspension.
      But don’t get it twisted.
      There will be a premium up charge.
      I prefer buying a SG special or a RG special anyway because I rip a lot of that OEM crap off the bikes anyways and end up doing a lot of performance parts.
      I really don’t care about the $50k+ CVO’s.
      Maybe in another 10 years when I’m 65 and I’m ready to relax and slow down.
      At 55 years old I still wanna go 90-100 MPH down the highway and take the turns hard.
      Can’t do that with a Bone stock $50k CVO very well.

    • @xpresident
      @xpresident ปีที่แล้ว

      Harley can easily add Wilbur suspension to a $57k CVO simply by charging you $60k instead. Most people will believe they got a freebie from Harley. Lol

    I just traded my 2018 Electra Glide Ultra Classic with 49742 miles on it for the new Ultra Limited Apex last Thursday. Here are MY 3 first upgrades.
    1} Headlight. I do quite a bit of night riding.
    2} Backrest. It's 170 miles to the closest city Reno Nevada USA from my house. I happen to like the stock seat. I've ridden friend's bikes with aftermarket seats and don't notice enough of a difference to justify the expense.
    3} Touring windshield. It's wider so it keeps the wind from buffeting my shoulders-way less fatigue after hours in the saddle. Plus, the lip on top keeps the wind from buffeting both me and my girl.
    Honorable mention.
    4} Big Azz cup holder and Ciro powered phone holder. 2 small upgrades = 1 big upgrade:}
    5} Helmet Bluetooth speakers. I have both Zyphon and U-Clear systems in Shoei Neo tech 2 helmets. I've had Sena in the past and wasn't very happy with the either the sound quality or the controls. The stock stereo on the bike is crap. On the interstate at 85mph you can't hear it in my modular helmet.
    6} Saddle bag cooler for my annual Sturgis vacation. I also put on the saddle bag guard bags to keep our rain gear in.
    As far as the suspension goes, I will be looking to upgrade next spring or just get it installed front n back at Black Hills HD next Sturgis a few days before the rally starts.

    Although I agree comfort is number one. I’m seeing comments that criticize buying a 50k bike and having to mod it. You don’t “have “ to do anything. You change things to suit you. The bike is a canvas and you paint it how you like. My Streetglide is the least modded bike I’ve owned in 50 plus years. Good video,to the point. 👍

    • @TheHarleyRoadshow

    I bought a wide glide in 2000. It cost $16,000.

    I have ridden for 14 hours in one day to get some place on last minute notice. I have 88,000 miles on that bike with just those two modifications.

    The handle bars and seat are individual things but the suspension should not need to be upgraded on a bike costing thousands. With the new suspension you can tow your boat, too, right? I want to see that video as you launch your boat with your Harley Davidson on your cushiony Saddleman seat. How about doing a review on that new fangled vest that pops into an air bag when you crash? I'd think lower leg air bags, and a parachute could have saved your Wife's ankle from breaking in your most unfortunate accident. Hey, we're talking "comfort" aren't we? What about the bikes that have A.I. that keeps them perpendicular to the ground? How about two sets of small wheels that fold under bottom of frame that extend at the push of a button, or auto deploying air bags when maximum lean angle is breached? Comfort and safety on Motorcycle's will continue to progress as more minds think about the solutions. Thanks for getting us started!

      A lot of people don’t mate, they may have ridden other brands most of their lives or haven’t had the a chance to own a Harley and are wondering what they should spend their money on, thanks for watching

    Too right. Comfort.
    It’s a shame the biggest, mostly widely known, ironic cruiser brand in the world that also costs more than any other cruiser on the market has poor comfort regarding the seat, the bars, the suspension and more.
    I still love HD, but man. It sucks that the suspension on a HD is below average even if you compare it to say… something like a piano falling down a flight of stairs. The piano handles better.

      Look, the seat and bars are subjective and you can’t be everything to everyone but the suspension in my humble opinion needs to be addressed, as I e said before, you buy a 15k car and you don’t need to touch the suspension, you buy a 60k motorcycle and you have to upgrade the suspension to make it rideable

      @@TheHarleyRoadshow hell, you can buy a $15k bike from any other manufacturer and the suspension will be miles ahead. You can buy a $10k CFMoto with much better suspension.

    Air ride still have it's issues.... Just look at interstate truck drivers, when they have a air leak... They can't move❗
    Which isn't what you want riding a motorcycle, stuck with no way home....
    Number 1... Is Seat ❗ suspension is much further down the line... Who wants to spend thousands on a Harley to then throw thousands on a suspension that they don't even knows how it would even feel.... Comfort was already decided at the dealership when purchasing, now it's Seat, exhaust, tuner & maybe ape hangers..... But no one purchases a HD to go straight to suspension as mod1❗

    I upgraded my seat on my first bike (Honda 1300C). That factory seat destroyed my back. Factory Harley was 1000x better than Honda.

      Seat, bars and suspension, pretty quick video, they could’ve done that with the movie Titanic and just sunk the boat 😂 thanks for your input
