  • We've got a new (well, new to me anyways) meter on the bench today, a Fluke 83 series III. I love my 83 original series and jumped at the chance to get this upgraded version, however it does have a minor issue that needs to be addressed.
There appears to be some odd staining under the polarizer film on the LCD. I have no idea how it got there, but it's a fairly straightforward repair so long as you are aware of a couple small traps along the way, which I unfortunately found the hard way.
Although I used the method to fix stains in this case, it can be used to fix crazing, which is a common issue with many meters, especially those exposed to UV light.
Scissors are definitely dangerous enough to warrant the safety stuff:
This video is for entertainment purposes only, I am not liable if you are injured, maimed, killed, teleported, transfigured, or any other abnormal stuff that can happen while you are trying to do this stuff. Don't try this at home. Always wear proper PPE. Perform a JSA. Be safe, behave, be careful.
