    How to fix the Fluke 87 LCD Display with faded, fading, ghosting, or missing segments on LCD? This works for all Fluke 80 Series Multimeters like the Fluke 83, Fluke 85, Fluke 86, Fluke 87, Fluke 88, Fluke Matco, Kent-Moore, and Fluke Xerox versions. Cleaning the display connectors with rubbing alcohol, or contact cleaner will serve as a quick temporary fix. The best way to fix once and for all long term is to replace the old pink elastomers with the new gray elastomers. Our Display Kits come with step by step photo instructions, gray elastomers, and 60 Day Warranty. That means we'll honor a full refund on returned items within 60 Days if you're not satisfied. We also sell Fluke parts, and quality used test equipment.
    Fluke 80 Series replacement elastomeric connectors may be found here: multimeterparts.com/fluke-87-...

    I own a Fluke 79 that had a similar display problem. While it is not identical inside, it is close enough that this video helped me fix it using using a couple of the gray elastomers that Fluke had sent me a few years ago. Your information about the contact cleaning not being necessary and the demo of taking the display apart was just what I needed to help me understand that I wasn't really risking major damage. After years of ghosting displays, the thing now looks like new. Thanks.

    Just repaired both my 87 and my 75. At first the new pads in the 75 did not help, lots of segments missing.... I did clean both pc and led contacts (very carefully) with Deoxit D5. I did not take the cover off. I used a miniature brush made from a cut off and crushed end of a tooth pic (squeezed between pliars until "brushy") dipped it in the Deoxit and wiped lightly down in the slot on the pc board. The 75 now works quite well now as does the 87. Thank you very much.

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you state it's the same way, you mean the display is on VDC, for example, for all the functions? Is it all zeros? Try taking apart and making sure that the range selection knob is positioned correctly and that all the contacts are clean and in the proper place. I'll try to post a video of the Fluke 77IV, or compatible soon...if I have one. Thanks for reaching out. I hope this helps.

    Kit no longer available. Contacted Fluke to repair my meter for this issue. No longer servicing the Fluke 87 True RMS, but I could buy a new one from them for nearly $400. I tried to have this repaired back when it started happening back in 1993~1994 timeframe, but they wanted $250 as a "repair fee". I paid $225 for the meter (maybe less). I wasn't happy for sure. :(

      @@spartanreece9908 Maybe I'm blind or have zero idea how to use the old fleabay any longer, but there are no 'screen' or 'kits' or pretty much anything for the Fluke 87.
      I guess I continue to take it apart, clean the pads, and move on. Probably the last Fluke I ever buy after their piss-poor customer service with me (and yes, since I bought the meter).

    Ordered your kit and replaced the elastomeric strips with the new gray ones and the display didn't get any better. I have an old FLUKE 87 meter from when I worked at Xerox. It is probably 40 years old . Is it beyond fixing? By the way the contacts on the PCB are not copper colored; they are dark. I have cleaned them with alcohol, but no difference in the display.

      We're back from hiatus. Not sure I'm understanding the setup completely, but I've seen bad batteries give strange readings...even when batteries fresh out of the package. Rare, but it's happened. If you suspect something wrong internal, check for physical signs of damage on the main board PCB. Good luck, and please share the results. Everyone's been waiting over a year to find out. Thanks for your question, and we apologize for the delayed reply. All the best to you.

    The elastomer and gold pads can be cleaned with pure ethanol or isopropanol to restore function. No new zebra strips are required.

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for sharing. Yes, this is true; however, there will come a time when the elastomers should be changed. Technically, the fading lcd segments is not due to dirty contacts...it's really due to the elastomers losing their bounce after years of compression. The old pink elastomer life cycles are just about up. When you're looking for replacements, consider our offers. We'll do our best to accommodate. lcdrepairkit.com/contact-us/

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main difference is that the Fluke 27/FM elastomers are a different size than what we carry in stock at the moment. Other than that, try cleaning the elastomers with alcohol pads to see if it improves. We'll be uploading new content in the near future, and we'll include the Fluke 27/FM.

    Is it some glue used to elastomer connection?? Or not use ?? Where we buy elastomer, and lcd fot Hioki 3230 ??

    • @MultimeterParts
      @MultimeterParts  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no glue used. Sometimes the elastomers will stick to the LCD due to age. It seems like it's glued on, but it's just stuck to the glass. Please text size of your Hioki elastomers to lcdrepair@multimeterparts.com and we'll do our best to accommodate. We've had success trimming elastomers down in size to fit smaller applications. This might be an option for you.
