Too damn realistic and accurate. The ones in comments talking about exaggeration have no idea what it's really like. They're delusional. An engineering degree is either overstudy or perish.
Missing one course for a week shouldn't be a case for academic withdrawal. I hope people watching don't actually take that advice seriously. You can realistically get back 70% of that material in a weekend and then slowly get back the rest of the material with repetitive work in "spare" time which you can get back.
i see what you’re saying and you’re right missing one course shouldn’t lead to withdrawal it’s definitely possible to catch up if you put in the work and use your time wisely some people just panic too much but with the right mindset you can definitely recover @authorjond if you’re looking for help with catching up in math and physics check out my ultimate crash course for stem majors it breaks things down and makes it easier to follow here’s the link payhip.com/authorjond
Depends on course and the amount of material. If you behind one week in a heavy course like Calc 2 or 3, it’s over bro. The mistake I see many of my peers make is taking too much units per semester. They would’ve been better off going part time in college, even if they graduate later. Unfortunately many colleges pressure students to graduate in a 4 year timeframe

You know I cannot deny that this is the reality of being an academic to some degree but I don't think it should be. Not in the sense that I don't think people shouldn't be forced to confront problems and learn from them but in the sense that I feel there is a fine line between this and just not receiving mentorship. Like sure, if you don't know how to swim and someone throws you into a lake and tells you "figure it out" in the case that you survive, you will have learned many things about swimming that someone learning in a more guided way would have taken ages to learn. But the caveat is "if you survive" which in a sense is very reminiscent of how academics is. I suppose in some sense you would want a system like that for the responsibility of the job but it begs the question of how effective is a system like that really when you still have your Francesca Geno's and their papers about "How writing a paper about a stance they disagree with makes them desire cleaning products more." I'm a little confused. You said each math course is around 30-40 hours per week, but then said that if you get 2 weeks ahead, you'll only need to do 5 hours per week for the rest. How does that work?
The bulk of the study comes the first 3-5 chapters/sections. If you get that out of the way before the semester starts, the time you study will drop drastically. This could be like 100hrs of study you need to do before the semester starts. If you wait until the semester starts, you’ll have to spread that out and if you fall behind make up for it. There’s no exact way to tell you how long it’s gonna take for someone to study. The point is that if you’re well prepared for the chorus, you’ll be less at risk of falling behind and have a lot more time in your hands.

jonathan i have a question ive been here for awhile but ive always been curious about the 2 weeks thing. wouldnt it be easier if uou started like a month earlier than needed so your brain can remember the information better or does it not work that way
Absolutely. Realistically, you want to do it without break between semesters. I simply say two weeks because it’s got a good ring to it. For people that are just starting college with the reality is that you can’t take a break between semesters. You can just take it easy but no breaks. You gotta be like a professional athlete and treat summer And winter like off-season. Love the picture btw 🤣
I’m not a medical doctor, I just play one on TH-cam. 🤣 I don’t I can’t say anything in relation to any medical advice but if you actually do have ADHD and it’s not self diagnosed, I don’t know how to go about that but often one just needs to figure out how to work their own brain in order to retain data. Too often are we “labeled “ because people don’t want to acknowledge the truth. Usually people that claim to be ADHD if they drink a lot of corn syrup that’s my first question and I ask if they eat a lot of white bread Author, Jonathan David P.S. I am physics grad student from India and I am literally struggling to keep with the pace of professors, sometimes I feel like dropping out of the course. Please provide your advice it would really be appreciated.
It’s not easy to stay focused. I’ve given up more times than I can count but I always go back. If you are a graduate student in physics, you probably enjoy physics. Just tough it out regret it if you don’t. And it will be done faster than you think. But if you hate it, you don’t want to be a physicist, then it’s OK not too. don’t waste your life making yourself miserable but also don’t waste your life regretting things
If you get two weeks ahead and stay two weeks ahead, you are learning all the material on your own. The professor and lectures are just a review. If you take five courses and study 40 hours a week each, that means 28 hours a day, seven days a week. When does the "study less, get better grades" part come in?
If you’re 2 to 4 weeks ahead of the course you would not be studying that much. You study that much because you’re behind. I guess I didn’t clarify that. If you want to reduce starting to about 10 hours a week, you make sure you’re 2 to 4 weeks ahead of the semester. If you want to study 30 hours a week per course, you start studying two weeks after the semester starts. To make up the time.
@@authorjond The textbooks need to be really good to allow you to study ahead. I'll agree you do get more out of the lectures when you are familiar with where they are going.
idk dude, i started off the semester with a severe pneumonia, missed 2 weeks and still score the highest on exams. Mind you, this was just a calc 1 class, however I never took geometry, trig, algebra 2, or precalc and it had been 4 years since i had done any math in general. It's not that hard to catch up if you just know how to learn lol. Also did well on my CS exam, but that's not as impressive since I've been around programming for a decent chunk of my childhood. And I know you're probably going to say "oh well its just calc 1 wait til u get to higher maths", dont care it'll be easy. These videos are heavily dramatic and are definitely geared towards people that shouldn't be taking these types of classes in the first place
@matthewp.5873 this also depends on how hard your curriculum is. I've seen Calc 1 classes at other colleges that were a joke compared to what I've had to take, respectfully.
Too damn realistic and accurate. The ones in comments talking about exaggeration have no idea what it's really like. They're delusional.

I'm in medical school and I learned this the hard way 😭
i can imagine med school is no joke it’s tough to balance everything but learning how to catch up and manage time is such a valuable skill just keep pushing through and remember it’s okay to ask for help when you need it

if you want to improve your understanding of math and physics check out my ultimate crash course for stem majors it’s designed to make tough concepts easier to grasp here’s the link payhip.com/authorjond
I'm a little confused.
The point is that if you’re well prepared for the chorus, you’ll be less at risk of falling behind and have a lot more time in your hands.
thankyou
You're welcome!

Hello do you recommend reading physics for scientists and engineers??
I recommend reading anything that’s gonna help you with physics and engineering! My favorite book to read our textbooks. Always keep your brain working while you’re in college. Getting a stem degree is like becoming a professional athlete you gotta make it your life.

jonathan i have a question ive been here for awhile but ive always been curious about the 2 weeks thing. wouldnt it be easier if uou started like a month earlier than needed so your brain can remember the information better or does it not work that way
I’m smart but i’m just lazy and i have adhd - but i’m lazy so i use adhd as an excuse.
Usually people that claim to be ADHD if they drink a lot of corn syrup that’s my first question and I ask if they eat a lot of white bread

I'll agree you do get more out of the lectures when you are familiar with where they are going.
be a scientist and solve your weight problem
You are a very unpleasant human being. I hope you change before you get to college.
idk dude, i started off the semester with a severe pneumonia, missed 2 weeks and still score the highest on exams.
Not all of us are human...
@matthewp.5873 this also depends on how hard your curriculum is. I've seen Calc 1 classes at other colleges that were a joke compared to what I've had to take, respectfully.
