I saw it and I dont think he was given enough to make the cut for an award JS, but still not to say he wasn't gr8 as the character because he definitely was
I haven't been this excited for a movie in a long time !!! Was waiting for your review. Do you foresee any possible Oscar nominations? I know it's rare for horror but this isn't the typical horror film.
OMG I can't wait to see it!!! 😱🎈You've got me hyped up again Grace! And I got that impression from Sophia from the trailers. That description, you nailed it!
I'm not gonna lie, I thought you were very critical when i first started watching your channel but the more I've watched your reviews, the more you've grown on me. Thank you for your honest reviews over the time that I've been subbed! I am beyond excited!!!
I've never seen a horror movie in my life because I am a coward but my friends are gonna make me watch this. I am going to lose my horror movie virginity .
Cinema Guy said in his review that this isn't just a horor film but a character driven film that feels like Stand By Me mixed wit A nightmare on elm street. Would u agre Grace?
hopefully this film encourages more people to read the book or listen to the audio. Youll get more answers to what IT actually is. I hear the will try to explain it in Part2. Maybe the Turtle might appear
They should have added the turtle wax can in the start of this movie with some special sound or something to ease people into it. Cosmic terror monsters is gonna be confusing for the casual viewer.
I hope they have scene in the club house with the smoke
7 ปีที่แล้ว +1
Maturin is referenced in a lame lego scene. They managed to somehow reference the turtle but couldn't give Bev her slingshot, y'know, her primary power and ability.
Humberto Duran I love Grace, she seems to really love the material, hopefully she does read the book. (Before people shit on me for being a book elitist or something. I'm not, i like the mini series & the new film despite both having a lot of problems. It's just hard to take a lot of people serious whom don't know the full story and try to explain like they do, i see this a fair bit online.)
I really want to see this movie, but I struggle watching horror films. I really enjoyed the original mini series, and I'm really curious about how it has been adapted now. But I also get sooo scared with more contemporary horror if it has a lot of jump scares. I love movies like the Babadook that rely more on jump scares to scare the audience, and I can see the new IT being more sophisticated in its horror tactics. But if I'm having a heart attack every few minutes, I couldn't at all sit through this movie.
Ruben Avalos Its cgi nonsense, bills performance as pennywise was piss poor.. relied to much on cgi, tim curry still reigns as the mastergod of pennywise. Its not a bad film just not great. Fact
Dazza skillz Bill Skarsgard was better than Curry. I actually believed he was a inter-dimensional demon. And with all the things he does I expect CGI. And wasn't cheap either. Pennywise was sinister and eerie. And the story was wonderfully adapted into a film. That's my opinion.
AWWW! I'm so relieved that you liked it, I have tickets to the biggest screen in my state on IT's very first showing. I'm so excited!I'm so excited I could reach into the screen and give you a hug!
Grace you are one of the best, if not the best movie reviewers. You can describe aspects of a movie so perfectly and with such great imagery it gives your audience a sense of what the movie is like emotionally. Keep up the great work😊!
WOW!!! Grace, this is one of the very few times you seem speechless. I'm seeing it Friday and I strongly advise you: READ THE BOOK, we all float down here. Always love your reviews. Thanks muchly!!!
I'm glad that yours was a positive review. I've been seeing a few negative reviews about IT already in these early hours of the day. The press screenings must have just let out since all of the reviews are appearing within minutes of each other.
THAAAANK YOU, GRACE! Man, I was SHAKING when you started this video thinking "oh no, she's gonna say it's a disappointment" but I'm so happy right now! The book is also a very interesting experience, and yes, Pennywise is not the only theme there, the kids are as much important as it. If the movie got it right, man, it's gonna be the best SK adaptation, setting itself apart from a long list of bad ones
Are you sure Pennywise is dead? Even King hints that IT survived at least in part after the end of the novel. I personally would love to see that doubt at the end of the second movie.
Michael Waller I don't think that IT is dead. Pennywise (It's psychic physical projection) is, but IT can't really die since he's not even there in the first place.
Okay, so lemme just leave my two cents here. I just recently found a love for the It miniseries, because when it was a kid it scared the crap out of me and ruined clowns for me. Heck, I was even afraid to shower or wash my face in the sink. But now I happen to love the miniseries, and going in I do have certain expectations, but I feel like based on your review and the clips/trailers I've seen It's going to be really good. I like the liberties that the actors have taken within the characters, and the fact that you said Pennywise had this frustration to him really intrigues me. In the original, Pennywise seemed to have everything come naturally to him except for certain parts, and to see frustration in this clown is very nice and real for a character who's actually just an amass of what he himself calls "deadlights". So, let's just say I hope I'm dragged into the sewer (maybe even forced down there) by this movie.
Yo Grace, your flow was on point: funny n eloquent. Lmao your opening line should be on the blue ray- "if u know any kids who are carelss abiut their safety..."
I just saw it, and I agree 100% with Grace's review. It's really good on multiple levels, from the child actors to Skarsgard to the script. HOWEVER, at times, the cgi is really bad. They had an interesting approach in the movie for how they wanted Pennywise to appear (a weird distortion of the space surrounding him) which was interesting, but then they had a moment full of cgi that was so bad that you almost question if they weren't trying to have It be in 3D.
Grace, the advanced screening I went to had its audio cut out at the exact shot of the single blood drop during the 3rd act montage. For a few seconds, it made for an insane bridge to the previous scene, until we all realized that the sound was dropped.
Great review, I'm looking forward to watching it this weekend. (I'm dragging some friends along who aren't really into horror, so hopefully I don't put them off going to the cinema with me too much)
100% agree with you Grace!! As a horror fan, I can honestly say there are no better group of people than horror fans, however we are also EXTREMELY harsh and hold remakes especially to a very high standard. I felt like I was having an anxiety attack the entire first act and then ... it got amazing, the preview I went to was all horror bloggers and industry horror people and we ALL were on our feet clapping at the end.
LOL! Nice Grace, nice! :-D I love how you broke your review of the film down into different chapters (sorta like a book, lol) - That was cool. I'm happy with the way you described IT as being more than just a horror movie, and more of a character driven, intense, yet relatable, all around, good movie (And thanks for not giving away any spoilers, much appreciated). This movie seems like IT's far exceeding my expectations with all of the fan reviews that I have seen on youtube so far. Ha Ha, I got the giggles, like I'm like a kid in a candy store - I can't wait to see this movie. :-D
grace, im spaniard and i havent seen the movie yet...but im reading the book and its awesome how stephen king take those characters and give them so mucho life. i recommend you to read the novel if you loved the film. great channel Grace you have
Thank you for mentioning what they did with Mike's character. I liked the movie, but his character (or lack thereof) was the one fly on the wall that I just couldn't get past.
I obviously haven't seen this film yet, but I do remember having a "caught off guard" moment when I watched The Prestige. It was when David Bowles Tesla shows up and presents his cloning machine, which instantly threw what I thought was a fairly grounded film about magicians trying to one up each other, straight into the realm of science fiction. At that point, I felt like stopping the movie, because it kind of upset me, but I continued watching, and was happy with how well Nolan made it fit into the narrative. The Prestige is now one of my favorite films. I hope It has that same effect on me.
Hi Grace, is there a lot of gore in this film? My friend loves horror movies but not ones with gore and she's reluctant to see this film Bc of the eating aspect...does it show anything in detail like that in this film?? :)
Thank you Grace for the review, have been waiting for it, I'm going to watch the movie on Thursday, that day is the premiere here in Honduras, can't wait!
I would definitely recommend that you read the book before you watch part two, unless you want to go in completely clueless as to the plot, in which case I would suggest reading the book after you see the second part. It is widely regarded as one of King's best works. The characterisation in the books for the loser's club is excellent (I am pleased to hear that the movie replicates that), and while the book has some supremely disturbing moments (both as a work of horror - so sort of to be expected - but also in one infamous scene in the sewers between the losers toward the end of the book that leaves you wondering exactly why King would choose to even include a scene like that at all, and makes for genuinely uncomfortable reading, though it is worthwhile to grit your teeth and endure it, or even skip over that section in order to read the rest), it also provides a fascinating insight into the town of Derry and the way IT pervades and warps the whole region.
I'm a simple man I see a Grace's review notification at midnight on my phone so I watch the whole thing she says it's good so i go to bed desperate wanting to watch the film.
Great review! Can't wait to see it in theaters tomorrow! One suggestion though: read the book, if for nothing other than proper comparison & a more in-depth explanation of who/what Pennywise is. 😊👍
BEEP BEEP GRACIE!, great review. Part 2 will be fun to see the "losers club", all now adults being re-haunted by the prospect of IT having returned and the feeling of Dread, Fear, Adult Sensibilities and Denial. Where many characters after the first encounter change their lives, "moved on" and PTSD-like hidden this group experience away like a "false memory". The realisation for an adult is equally if more shocking, having to strip back the layers to how they were as kids.
Thanks, Grace! I have my ticket for tomorrow and can hardly wait! ps - are you going to do a trailer reaction for Gerald's Game on Netflix? Between IT, Castle Rock, and now Gerald's Game, Mr. King truly is banking this year!
I haven't seen IT yet but I have read the book. I can see where they could end this and still being satisfied and being prepped for a sequel. If they go into more detail on Pennywise and the kids stories they will need to. Grace, you should read the book when you get a chance, in the book it's constantly going back and forth between the losers as kids and adults. I'm curious to see if they'll do that in the sequel.
This movie really captured the essence of what made the novel so great, which the miniseries really didn't, and you hit the reasons for this spot on even though you haven't read the novel, which tells me the filmmakers really did do an excellent job. I usually am one of those assholes that are hypercritical of movies based on books I have read and enjoyed. This might be the first time I actually liked the movie as much, if not more, than the source material itself.
There are several TH-camrs who have made videos regarding Fukunaga's involvement in the films' production. Many of them have stated that there several scenes that Fukunaga originally wrote that have stayed in the final product.
Just watched it..Damn!! words cant define the visceral horror atmosphere present throughout the movie..Cryptic ending aside this movie is hands down way better than any other Stephen King horror adaptation till date..ill give it 4/5..!!
So glad this movie took you by surprize Grace. I too will go in with an open mind and let the movie lead me. I hope this opens the door to more horror genre movies that follow this formula. Can't see it until Sunday though. Will be going in the morning so I don't have to be worried about getting out of my vehicle in the dark.
I'm rrlly nervous about it doing under average at the box office bc of the hurricane Irma what do U think ab this. Ilysm grace and ily your videos. I hope I'm wrong and IT does a great job.
I'm excited now to see this. My sister and I had seen the original when it first premiered on TV, we had a great time. We both agreed that the adult part were weak compared to their younger counterpart. Hopefully the sequel for this doesn't fall short.
This film was brilliant and deserves all the praise it gets. Skarsgard was mesmerising as the creature and properly played the character as something not natural like its trying its hardest to potray what we think a clown should be but in its own twisted way. The cinematography was awesome and the child actors are what made this film great. Great film and looking forward to the sequel.
Grace I wanna ask I haven't seen it yet but I have to ask is it a terrifying movie a plain scary movie or a not so scary movie please answer and let me know your answer
I saw it last week at the Sydney Premiere and it was such a great film! I dont normally get scared of clowns but i couldnt get his face out of my head after the movie! Both scary and entertaining! cant wait to see it again!
I think when you are talking about putting up walls or grabbing on with both hands and taking the ride to wherever things lead is a lot like the kids in the Losers club in the books. Stan has the hardest time letting that wall come down and following the rest to where they need to go to try and defeat Pennywise. I like that it sounds the film puts you in that same position.
I was thinking about going to see this movie after work Friday night. But from everything I'm hearing about it I'm going to wait to see the next morning. Gotta feeling I will not want to walk thru a dark parking lot after seeimg it.
The sequel will inevitably "drop the ball" to some degree. Setting up characters and story is King's bread and butter, but resolution is not. Splitting this story into two halves leaves this movie ending at the point where if you're reading a King story, you're asking yourself why you don't read everything this guy does. I never have that feeling at the end of a King story though. It sounds like they nailed the material so far, and maybe I'm wrong. I remember this being one of King's stronger stories overall, and the good thing about an adaptattion is you can change anything that doesn't work in the original.
I know most people would be thinking Jessica Chastain would be perfect for Sophia Lillis character grown up character, but for some reason I am thinking Greta Gerwig, Dear Grace I wanted to know your opinion of who they cast for her character grown up? Sincerely, Logan Coleman
The movie was real good one of the best scary movies in a decade and I'm not saying that because I'm Pennywise
You are not worthy of Pennywise's power imposter.
Adam Tatti Totes. We all float
Well I'm IT i can change forms
Pennywise, now you are really FAMOOSE.
*C O N F L I C T O F I N T E R E S T*

Grace has given bad reviews to amazing movies.
Ezra Sky so? Other reviewers had done it too....
+Steven Polanco good. don't want a book adaptation accuracy review. want a movie review.
Ezra Sky you mean she constructively criticised something that you liked and you couldn't handle it...

Jon Snow I'm super pumped for It but Get Out was amazing.

Jon Snow get out was great but I laughed more than anything it didn't scare me as much lol
Several reviews popped up at the same time, but Grace has priority!

I'm seeing IT tomorrow alone or not,i do not give any particular fucks
Shane Riley lol well some people don't need to sleep for a couple months anyway lmao
Word! Me To!
Shane Riley same here
same. no friends at all lol
I never found IT terrifying...It's more of a disturbing movie for me, than a horror flick...so i'd be fine going in it alone.
The bigger question is: should I see it in the afternoon or at night?? Probably in the afternoon so I won't be scared when I go to sleep.
Gabriel Benton I think you should see it in the afternoon so you can see it again at night 👍🏽
Gabriel Benton Go at night bro 🎈😈
Gabriel Benton I'm 11 and I'm seeing it at Night............Help Me

Water Bottle watched horror movies with the family like every weekend since I was like 7
Nobody in my family was into them Smh nobody would take me when I was little Cuz they found them to be dumb. But now......
Cinema Guy said in his review that this isn't just a horor film but a character driven film that feels like Stand By Me mixed wit A nightmare on elm street. Would u agre Grace?

SPOILER ALERT!!!
At the end of the film there's credits
100% on rotten tomatoes.
Damn, its better than I hoped.
So hyped
WRONG! It's 89%
SoCalFreelance bro it's gonna fluctuate. It was at 100 for like 25 reviews. That's pretty darn good
Keith it's an important distinction. Very few movies have gotten 100% on RT. Those that have earned it.
Didn't see IT coming.

ArtZoneEspanol - Art Zone Productions yes.
Part one always had an ending. Which was why they were surprised when he came back later.
It has a cliffhanger no spoilers here though

The wait for your review was well worth it. Great job, Grace!

I like the part where Pennywise breaks into song singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls". Just terrific!! 💖🎶
Love it

Lost my job, TH-cam Red cancelled, but I'm still here..yall have a good day today.
I'm so glad I found this channel. Your just such a great youtuber and your videos are amazing!😊😊😊
Aw I'm glad you did too! :)
My friends and I were supposed to go tomorrow but we have storms warning on our city due to hurricane Irma hitting Dominican Republic. 😣😢
Your latest reaction to "Insidious: The Last Key " says its not available to my country :(
same.
Random Q: what movie was that Shia LaBeouf clapping scene from?
I'm rrlly nervous about it doing under average at the box office bc of the hurricane Irma what do U think ab this. Ilysm grace and ily your videos. I hope I'm wrong and IT does a great job.
Grace, do you have any ideas which adult actors should play them???
I'm excited now to see this. My sister and I had seen the original when it first premiered on TV, we had a great time. We both agreed that the adult part were weak compared to their younger counterpart. Hopefully the sequel for this doesn't fall short.
Another great review by a great TH-cam!!! 😊
Love your reviews!!!! ❤️
I suspect they'll have a bunch of flashbacks in the sequel so they can bring back the actors
You lost me at I haven't read the book. I'm out. Can't do a proper review if you haven't read the book.
Ahhhh!! I can't wait to see it 🤡😱😭😈🔥🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
Before I go see it. Is there an end credit scene??
Apparently from what I've seen in interviews , Wolfhard's lines were mostly improvised so Bravo!
I love your trailer reactions and reviews!! They're so entertaining 😊😊
Yes!!! Good to hear it's good. Going to see it on Thursday!! Thank you grace, I love your videos.
I was thinking about going to see this movie after work Friday night. But from everything I'm hearing about it I'm going to wait to see the next morning. Gotta feeling I will not want to walk thru a dark parking lot after seeimg it.
Grace can you do a video where you try and cast the adult versions of the kids (who lived)
Seeing these reviews are getting me hyped
Im happy that IT wasn't shit
That rhymed
Can't wait Grace! I saw the mini series when I was younger been terrified of clowns ever since, great review usually always agree xx
How was it on the jump scares? too many movies now rely too much on them.
I know most people would be thinking Jessica Chastain would be perfect for Sophia Lillis character grown up character, but for some reason I am thinking Greta Gerwig, Dear Grace I wanted to know your opinion of who they cast for her character grown up? Sincerely, Logan Coleman
