      @@barbaraanderson5437 I am glad you feel also the bass lines. A nice bass line awakens some pure feelings which can't be explained by words...
      And in this Firth of Fifth it feels really that way. Especially when the guitar solo is playing. I like especially the version with Steve Hackett, playing the solo on his golden guitar surrounded by the nice bass line

      This is such a great video of their last robust performance of Firth of Fifth recorded live and Phil Collins' fantastic drumming.

      No he didn’t. Adding all that nonsense doesn’t improve it at all. Its original simplicity is already perfection.

      Hackett nowadays plays it the way it is, but with more agressive vibrato and fast arpeggios. I like it. It's sort of a more authentic mix between the original and the 90s-2007 versions.

    Daryl is the absolute star of this. Nobody has ever played the Firth Of Fifth guitar solo better than that, and what he does on IKWIL is just as brilliant. I wish you could fix the whole concert like this, as it has many memorable moments.

    FoF - Tony's finest composition. Steve's finest interpretation.
    (Daryl's somewhat more jazz influenced interpretation here is pretty damn good too.)

    No Firth Of Fifth without the piano intro. I mean, when Tony plays the piano. On some other keyboarders performances they had better skipped it.

    • @FukiMakai
      @FukiMakai 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tony Banks stopped playing it in early 1974 since the RMI Electrapiano difficulted him the piano type performance, so he gave up performing it on that instrument. For the time he first played a Yamaha CP-70 live (in 1978, one year after performing it on Wind&Wuthering Tour or Seconds Out, he lost practice to the piano intro. Genesis did the whole Firth of Fifth in 1981 with the CP-70, but Tony had given up with the intro already.

      I cannot agree Hackett has a really original style, touch, taste .
      He knows hot to catch and release the listener and also does non use his virtuosism in a funambolic way.
      I think that in this recording Daryl is completely out of the original Song.
      The same for Banks' intro with the synth: i'm afraid He wanted to play the intro live but spreading the parts with other instruments to have it less difficult to play.
