I love the detail you have in this. I'd like to see how you made the wire. I just used tightly twisted picture wire for mine. following with interest!

Thanks GT Scale Modeling!! I I made a small jig that held a single strand, then I wrapped the little barbs around it, glued them with CA Glue, then wrapped the other wire around the whole mess. I will definitely make a video on that as it was super time consuming, but I think it made pretty nice barb wire. I painted mine with red-brown acrylic, then drenched it with rust washes. Thanks again for the comment!!!

Thanks CW!! I had a hard time finding them initially, but met a new friend of a friend that found them for me. The kit is from Hauler, a German company I believe, and it included small Photo Etch cages, I was thrilled. About a year after I think I saw a Mini Art kit with a bunch more pigeons in different poses and extended wings, so if I venture into WWI again, those will definitely be part of it. Thanks again for watching and commenting!!

Especially the carrier pigeon, a means of communication during World War I, was wonderful.

In him memoirs, referring to his First World War service, Field Marshal Montgomery mentions an occasion when the General Staff were waiting for a pigeon with an important message. When it arrived the message was rushed to the general. The message said 'I am fed up carrying this bloody pigeon all over France'.

@@Greggs.Dioramas.Scalemodels Hi Gregg, Yup, same stuff. I did try regular styrofoam on one a few years ago and it gave a really cool texture, and since I was doing an alien planet, (Starbucks crash landing from Battlestar Gallactica) I liked it. It also reacted to the paint as I used rattle can primer on it so it melted it a little. Never know! miners used canaries under ground to check oxygen levels! I went and bought that miniart pigeon set haha I wanted to do this too and have a couple in the locker in the mk5 full interior build! Nothing was sanitary back then in the trenches, I've got alot of British figures now all saved up for something just cool like this! I might even do a trench foot vignette with all the sogging mud.
This is superb absolutely love it!

Thanks Scottish Bonzai!! I loved doing the pigeons and reading about it when I built them. I also want to do one of the converted trucks they used to carry them around the battlefield, and I think Mini Art has a newer kit with pigeons in more poses. The ones I used were from Hauler, and included small photo etch cages.
