Frostgrave Battle Report | Treasure Guardian | S2 E1

- Season 2 begins with our first Frostgrave battle report! We start our Frostgrave campaign with Cailana of the Spark Syndicate, the Enchantress.
Cailana, our Wizard is introduced in this Battle Report and she is ready to make her mark on the world of Frostgrave!

SCENARIO NOTES:
-Intended for a single wizard
-Set up a 3’ x 3’ or smaller table with terrain reflecting an abandoned mine.
-In one corner of the board set up the treasure guardian creature (major demon stats), their warband of 5 other simple monsters (imp stats), and the central treasure.
-In the opposite corner, set up an entrance which will be the starting location of the single warband.
-Only three treasures will be used in this scenario (including the central treasure). The other two treasures must be placed within 8” of the central treasure.
-For initiative, the guardian (+0) and the wizard roll off. If the guardian wins, it can take its turn as a wizard, and choose any two other allies on the board to complete actions as well. Then the wizard would complete his 3 phases, and the game would proceed to the creature phase.
-The treasure guardian’s creatures act as if they are bloodthirsty for the wizard and their warband and will always move towards the closest enemy they see.
-At the end of every turn, roll a d20. On a 10+ a minion of the treasure guardian emerges from a randomly determined board edge.
-Roll treasure as normal after the game. Experience points are gained as normal for this scenario with the following addition:
-+25 experience if the treasure guardian is defeated.

It's great to see creativity in scenario making, that's the huge aspect of Frostgrave I like - it's big toolbox.
I like to set my wizard in some zombie apocalypse setting with new foul creature (or two-three) appearing every (or almost) every turn. Then it is pure race against time - get the chest and run before they overrun you!

I just bought a box of Frostgrave Gnolls. I was planning on using them for an Age of Fantasy: Skirmish warband, and maybe as Elites for a Beastmen army. But I might need to give Frostgrave a try as well.

Question on your wizard/apprentice. For your first few levels do you ignore the hard to cast other school spells due to how dangerous they can be to cast
Generally that is a good rule of thumb for my early level wizards!

Ages after this video was posted, but what models are those you are using from the imps? I recognize the treasure demon as a thaumaturge from GW, but I don't recognize those cool imps, they look like something out of Hieronymus Bosch

So you can play this game like a DM? That was like an encounter where youre controlling NPC's! Or did the Demon warband belong to someone?
The demon's warband is intended to be run by the player who is also running their own warband. Treat them as frostgrave "creatures," always charging towards the closest enemy they see. Feel free to ask any more questions!

@@andrewantretter4279 yes! I find it nice to have a little bit of XP prior to your standard game of Frostgrave.
