    Lifan is not a knock off grom. They make high end gas motors, on par with honda motors, but cheaper than honda.

    I’ve had such a negative experience with motorcycle dealership specifically the ones that are close to my home I like to do business close to home. The markups and BS about supply chain blah blah blah the one I was looking at they had marked up $2800 over MSRP with all their special little fees. I really think that there’s a niche in the motorcycle market for having something directly shipped to your home cutting out the middleman. Most of us don’t ride super bikes and can fix what we ride. I went and bought a tire changer because the last time I went to the motorcycle dealership where I bought a motorcycle they charge me $30 just to slip my tire onto my rim took them less than five minutes. How’s that for customer loyalty!

    • @benchmarking6875
      @benchmarking6875 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard that another way of thinking about it is that your not paying for the 5 minutes process, but rather the years of experience that they have doing that 5 minute process. But I do agree dealerships are pretty pricy.

      @@benchmarking6875 and I absolutely don’t fault anybody for wanting to make a profit I just think there’s a better way to be transparent about it. I just don’t like that feeling when you walk out and you don’t feel like you had an honest conversation with somebody. I’m all for profit I get it they’ve got overhead. I’ve talked to first time motorcycle buyers they came out with their heads women because they didn’t realize how much more it was going to cost them to take that bike out of the dealership.

    I wonder - is the Lifan just a Vader 125 that's been bored out bigger? If it's a bored out Vader engine block then I'd worry about how that might affect engine reliability. But, if it's a totally new engine block that's been built to be a 150cc then that would be nice. There's just no end to my decision making to getting one of these bikes. First I figured on a Vader 125 from Amazon. Then I saw a local dealer selling a Bennelli 135 and drooled over that. Now there's this Lifan 150. What to get. Maybe I'll go back to price. Since I'm not sure if I'll like a mini-bike, why overpay? A Vader 125 on Amazon is $ 1,300. A Lifan 150 on Amazon is $ 1,900 and a Bennelli at a local dealer is $ 3,200. So, definitely not a Bennelli. Now if I only knew about the 150 engine compared to the 125. I don't want an engine that's been over bored out with a thin cylinder wall.

    • @drewzuz765
      @drewzuz765 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Vader and the Kp mini are two completely different engines. I wouldn’t get the Vader unless you plan on working on it right out the box. I have the Kp mini and I’ve put over 3k miles on it with no issues.

    • @STBRetired1
      @STBRetired1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drewzuz765 I think a lot of the "problems" from Vader buyers is that they don't understand the difference between a bike that's 100% assembled and 80% or 85% assembled. 80 % or 85 % assembled doesn't just mean you put on the wheels and handlebars. It seems to mean that you should check and locktite every screw and bolt in the machine. They were only hand placed in position to save time. Torqueing them to specs would add more cost for the time to do them all. So, they let the buyer do a lot of the "minor" work in order to sell the bike at a cheaper price. It is annoying but in a way I would almost prefer to do those little tasks. At least then I would know they were done right. Some of the complaints I've read like "the muffler fell off". A typical customer who can't even bother to check the tightness of a heavy muffler even when it was rattling around and finally fell off? But, you've got to remember these are mainly kids buying these bikes. Not the best and brightest crowd in many cases. And how many young buyers dump out the packing oil in the engines before firing them up? I'll bet not many flush out the engine with a few fills and dumps to get all the shavings out of the sump. Do they know that when engines are breaking in that there are metal shavings that can score the cylinder walls if not flushed?

    • @drewzuz765
      @drewzuz765 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@STBRetired1 Good point. Mine came about 85%. I just had to put the handlebars and the front wheel on and all the controls for the handlebars. I’ve looked at the Vader and watched some good videos on it. I’ve considered getting one as a second but I really like that Grom. I just have to see what those dealer fees are looking like out here where I’m at lol.

    • @STBRetired1
      @STBRetired1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@drewzuz765 If money is no object and you already know that you like the mini motorcycles then the Honda Grom is the way to go. It's a HONDA. It's put together and done right. Just gas her up and add some oil and play. For me it isn't so much as the money. I just don't know if I'll really get some use out of the Vader. I'm 79 and looking for something to add some fun to my old life and make me feel young again. But, the older I get the more fearful I get with the quality (or lack thereof) of drivers on the road nowadays. They are just too distracted between their cell phones and all the gadgets in their cars. No one is looking out the window anymore.
