      Agreed. Nice to see a build other than a 79 or 200 series. Great little truck.

    • @anthonyramdin1037
      @anthonyramdin1037 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steve-qe2yo Yeah 200 and 79 series are overrated and so expensive to upgrade and chop. Dmax, triton, pajero and pajero sport are great vehicles that can be built up to go anywhere on a limited budget

    • @Steve-qe2yo
      @Steve-qe2yo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. I'm currently building a 2012 150 prado on a budget. I've found that if you pick your targets and only buy expensive gear when really needed, it's totally achievable.

    • @anthonyramdin1037
      @anthonyramdin1037 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steve-qe2yo Fully agree. Only buy the gear that you'll absolutely need for what you will be tackling. Many people buy gear that they don't need thinking that they will. I have a 120 series but I'm not doing anything with it cause I only drive on road. Maybe some quality shocks is something that I'll do. Any suggestions for the shocks? I assume you have the 3.0 d4D engine. What are your thoughts on them? I have the 1kz-te engine which I find is underpowered. Good luck with your build buddy.

    • @Steve-qe2yo
      @Steve-qe2yo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anthonyramdin1037 yeah you're right, I have the 1kd-ftv. It has good power but a bit laggy when you put your foot down, so I bought an idrive throttle controller and the difference is unbelievable. As for shocks, I've got Dobinsons mono shocks with a 2 inch lift. The ride is awesome. Check out the fourby4diesel channel for everything prado. The guy really knows his stuff.

    hey mate thanks for the video, I an RG 2012 Colorado 2.8 ltr diesel and have just had a front harrop e-locker fitted, she is now twin locked (both harrop). 2 in, breathers, pre filters, winch and a big break kit on the front and other bits. I haven't done anything to the engine, she has 300k and doesn't miss a beat but curious on your thoughts re the tune you have. Is it worth on a motor with these K's? Appreciate your thoughts cheers Mark

      Hi Bob! Sounds like a well setup RG! Would be unstoppable with twin lockers. I would probably just make sure the engine is in good condition and everything has been serviced and you should have some great results with a remap.

    Enjoyed that Nick. You have certainly built yourself a capable vehicle - that locker makes a big difference. Might look closely at a MUX when the day comes to upgrade my ‘13 Hilux. Locker brand aside; if you are going to fit one locker, front or rear ?
    Cheers

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your only going to fit one.. front will usually get you further off-road. Rear you will use more often. It's a very hard decision. Probably front if your only going to do one haha I'll change my mind on that next week probably. Very hard decision, either way you will be stoked with the vehicles offroad performance with either locker.

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are unable to completely disengage the locker, so whenever your in 4wd the locker is engaged. Front lockers put alot of stress on the front end and make it difficult to turn so it is ideal to be able to disengage it if needed.
