Mega Man X4 100% (X) Speed Run in

- This is a Real Time Attack (RTA) speed run of Mega Man X4 with a time of 46:13, the category being 100% with X (all heart tanks, ex tank, e-tanks, and fourth armor parts). Timing begins upon selecting X in the character select, and ends upon loss of character control (in this case, right when I move X to the right ledge before the final conversation with the General). This is on the gamecube X collection version.
This run is pretty awesome, with only two bad parts (Frost Walrus's stage/boss and Sigma 2). SUB-45!!!!

I was born in 96 and this game came out in 97 on PS1. This is by far one of the most difficult games I recall from my childhood and you make it look soooo easy. Lol, I might replay it, I know I have it lying around somewhere.
Well, you made this comment 5 years ago, but the game is hard? Nah, to me it was quite easy but had this amazing quick flow to it, it's easy but great.

I've never searched for Megaman X4 speedrun before. But now that I did, I see I could be doing it.
The last time I played it for a 100% run, I ended it in 50~55 minutes and I was not trying to go that fast.
Maybe I could try speedrunning it someday.
The Reason why NTSC-J Version is Never used in Speedruns because of the Mavericks Speaking before the Fight Begins.

You don't need any upgrades for the heart tank around 3:50, just a well timed dash jump.
I get that later because it's faster to get it with rising fire. I need a second trip because I can't get the nova strike without arm upgrade + twin slasher

X from MMX4 sounds like the original Mega Man from MM8.

Is there any difference in load times or speed in general between the different versions? (MMX Collection vs original.) Just curious since I'm practicing this using the original PS1 disc in a regular PS3.
robomartian88 XC GC is the fastest version primarily due to loads. XC and original are considered different games in leaderboards though, but most strats are the same.
Im just waiting for this game to come out on virtual console
Hey, which of the two characters do you find more enjoyable/hard for a speedrun?
I'd say Zero is easier to learn than X but also harder to optimize in the long run. I don't have a preference.

How is the runner air dashing like that when he doesn't have the ultimate armor?
Joe Scott boots upgrade from web spider's stage lets you hover and air dash
but when he dashes, enemies in his path are destroyed, and this only happens when you put the code in at the start of the game, so i hear
Joe Scott Uh no? You're either mixing up air dashing and nova strike (which are really different), or I'm firing a charge shot just before air dashing
that's the nova strike lol, and yes u can use it with this armor but only once

If you hit web spider just as he goes off screen (the twin slasher shot I did before nova strike), he no longer has any invincibility frames. The nova strike then hits him repeatedly without activating invincibility frames. This is also possible with zero, but much more difficulty and luck-reliant.
You can do something similar with storm owl but I missed the timing; you can kill it instntly with a well-timed nova strike after hitting it with the first aiming laser.
You guys are insane. I remember playing this 16 years ago when I was 6. I played it for about a year, along with few other games, but never managed to beat it. For both X and Zero the furthest I went was Sigma 2nd form, and then my ps broke down so I never got the chance to finish. You beat the game in 45mins, that's really impressive.
