That is a great use of reflectix and the way he installs it leaves the air gap you need. I’ve been thinking of moving my awning back like this too. Had some soaked shoes one morning because I didn’t tuck them all the way under the trailer.
I hope the manufacturer sees this video. His vent behind the fridge is a really great idea!! It really wouldn't add a lot of cost or labor to the manufacturing process of the trailer. AND!!!!! It would keep dummies like me from cutting through wires trying to do it myself! 😱 Really great video!!! Thanks!!!

Awesome work Brad, I loved seeing all your customisations! My favourite is "May the forest be with you" 😁 There's something to be said for the the good old 4WD awning. They may not be the easiest to put up by yourself but they're great value at $100 AUD ($67 USD) these days and they can be pretty versatile with some Brad-level ingenuity.
I agree with the awning as well. Like I mentioned in my past awning videos, the other ones may look glamorous but they're not that effective camping. These simple awnings to me are the best bang not just for the buck, but also the best performing in my opinion.
So many tips and tricks. Looks like he figured out all the things that was important for himself to have a great time out camping. Wonderful video as always! Much love and positive energy to you and your family Drew!
Thank you my friend! Sending the positive energy back your way as well. We u just got done with a nice long family camping trip. It almost couldn't have went any better. It's rare that I get back from camping and immediately start tinkering with my setup. We have this so dialed in, this is the closest we have ever got to everything just being in the right place, arms reach, organized, everything in its place. There were days where the high was 38° and it barely put a hiccup in our travels. Crazy how long we've been doing this, and how many days we've been out, and I'm still dialing it in. But there's something super exciting about these small incremental gains. Great seeing you my friend.
@@PlayingwithSticks that is great to hear. I bet Mae was very excited for her trip. I'm curious on the final adjustment for sleeping. Everybody fit okay I assume? Where are you going to keep your fishing equipment? I've been debating how I'm going to do it. I think I'm going to get a PVC tube and mount it to the trailer rack. It's been in the Jeep and a bit of a task to pull it out, set up. When all ya want is too just wet a line.
The sleeping was great. Our oldest son (8 years old) can nicely fit on the bunk/counter. That made me feel good knowing that in the future he could come down and the little guy goes up. But, before then I have a feeling me and one of the boys will be sleeping outside in hammocks or under the awning. The boys know how much I love sleeping under the stars, so I have a feeling they may inherit that love. The fishing is a good question. Lately we have been running with very small breakdown rods. Either our fly rods or little dock demon poles for throwing out a fly or synthetic worm under a bobber. Boys still are doing better under the bobber vs the fly rod. Because the Bean has such high ground clearance I have been considering running a pvc tube under the front platform for fishing gear. I have a flat pack gear video coming out sometime in the near future. I have collected so much of this type of gear that we have really freed up the space in the tow vehicle and camper. I'm finding it much easier this season to bring EVERYTHING with me when fishing. The flat pack items have been a real blessing. Seems like fishing has really expanded lately. We are finding trout in places there never were trout before. And at water temperatures much higher than I thought trout could exist in. It's been fun finding all these new off the beaten path fishing destinations.
@@PlayingwithSticks that would be wonderful if your kids learn to love sleeping outside. That was one of the greatest things my dad shared with me and I shared with my kids. Your fishing pole idea sounds great. I look forward to the upcoming video on the flat pack.

Hey Drew, finally had a chance to watch this video. Yeah, a lot of the stuff that he's done I use even just tent camping. However, there still great tips though!! Especially the Reflectix around my iced coolers! Yes "coolers" as in plural. I use one for drinks and one for food.. I use a piece of extruded foam on the ground and the Reflectix around the cooler. This way the ice last a few days longer. Old trick from some motorcycle campers... Hoobilly
@PlayingwithSticks I know, I know, we've had this discussion before.. I'd like to buy one of those fancy expensive type coolers, but I can't find myself using it as much to justify the cost here in the Midwest .. However, maybe if I had one I might!? Maybe..
I've been actually following my cooler tips lately. Before I used to follow about 50% of them haha. When I follow most the tips I'm finding just my basic Coleman coolers are doing much better. And so much lighter than carrying around the fridge every trip. Don't get me wrong. I still enjoy using the fridge, but I'm finding I use it less than I used to
That was amazing! I hope you also did a video of the truck? He rolled a couple of truck drawers out, which speaks to more incredible organization and great ideas!! Thanks to you both!
I didn't, but that's a great idea. Even looking at Brian's truck made me think, there's probably a video there. Great seeing you Jen n! Thanks for the great idea, I will keep my eyes open. I'm also looking for a beater truck for the family, so selfishly I'm looking for truck organization as well.
Great ideas. I like the duct connector, but don't have room to haul it. I have the folding wind block thing, but it wants to fall over. I have the Kelty Backroads, it is nice and sheds rain. I wondered what to do with my suction cup fasteners--now I know.
I too have put more reflective on my square drop. Here is my cheap hack. Get a Reliant water jug, a spare cap and spigot, and a water pump that goes on those 5 gallon clear water bottles. Cut the “turner” off of the new valve and you now have a straight pipe. Screw it into the spare cap and place the water pump over it. Now you have a fancy water jug. Also, can tell a great story about getting locked out of our camper. We too carry spare keys because of that “adventure”/ordeal.
We have a similar camper lockout story as well. Glad to know we're not the only ones. Thank you for sharing that Camp hack, much appreciated! And as usual, great seeing you. Garret!
I thought that was pretty clever too. I do not think it would work on my Coleman 2 burner stove though. It has one grate that runs all the way across the stove. Maybe if I cut some notches on the burner side of the duct. I might have to give that a try.
I would caution people on the camp stove wind guards. I had one around my butane stove. The heat buildup melted a plastic part inside the stove and it caused the butane to go BLASTING through the burner with no way to approach the stove or turn it off. I quickly grabbed a bath towel, soaked it heavily in water and threw it over the stove. It extinguished the flame. The butane canister was red hot and I’m shocked it didn’t explode. Be careful with wind guards.

Hi Drew, I'm from the Black Hills and was wondering if you had any RV dealerships that you recommend for these type of campers. I know you have a lot of experience with them.
The Black hills is a bit of a small camper desert. You have some RV dealerships that carry small campers that are built by the large RV industry. We typically don't suggest those trailers. In the Black hills though you do find a lot of great small camper trailers on the used market on Facebook marketplace. In terms of new trailers, I think your best bet are states like Utah, Colorado, Minnesota. All those surrounding states have some good small ma and pa manufacturers.
At some point Brad will discover this video. I'm hoping he sees this comment and can provide an answer. One thing I just started doing, yes I'm late to the scene as usual, you can take a screenshot of the clamps in the video. Then in Google or on your phone you can use the "search by image" function. You can then highlight the clamps and Google should be able to find you a link for them. It is pretty amazing technology.
Thanks for responding. I actually tried that, but no luck. I was surprised I can’t find the product more easily. Your content is great BTW. Keep up the good work!
That's right, they ping off of nearby phones. So theoretically still vehicle trackers, but like you said not GPS. In this day and age with everybody having phones, the chance of someone being within pinging distance is quite high.
I don't include shirts in my description. So I think you may have accidentally clicked in the wrong place. Once I get my computer I will send that link to you for the mat.

Any idea what clamps are being used on the round bars for the awning? Been looking for that exact thing and can’t find it. 11:50
Man, that’s a lot of stuff lol
It is. But that's also a lot of miles he put on that camper. That's basically a part-time home
This may be controversial, but i really enjoyed this video
😂 Love it! Brad's just a controversial guy.
Smoke Detector ✅
Carbon Monoxide alarm ✅
Yes! 🙏
Airtag and Tile aren't GPS vehicle trackers. They use Bluetooth.
That's right, they ping off of nearby phones. So theoretically still vehicle trackers, but like you said not GPS. In this day and age with everybody having phones, the chance of someone being within pinging distance is quite high.
what is the mat that you showed under the mattress? I would like to find one of those.
I can't remember the name, but I did link it in the description of the video.
I’ve used hypervent. Same basic premise from what I can see,
@ChristopherBorcsok thank you for sharing. This is another new one to me.
@@PlayingwithSticks I did look but I did not see it in your description the only thing I saw was shirts
I don't include shirts in my description. So I think you may have accidentally clicked in the wrong place. Once I get my computer I will send that link to you for the mat.
Think the under mattress moisture prevention is upside down
@@marvincarle1313 I'm glad you pointed that out, when I looked it up online and was studying the pad, I started wondering the same thing. This is a new pad for me, so I wasn't sure what I was looking at
This guy is a lot like me in that he takes way too much stuff camping with him. LOL... Of course he's out long term and I understand that. But I just thought it was kinda funny.
I relate, as a notorious overpacker myself.
safety gadget nut
Yep, that's typical for anyone with a public safety background. They've seen it all.
WOW. Way too much stuff. I prefer to keep it simple.
