Janet, best hint, used this on a very large quilt. What a life changer.

Thank you so much for your videos. I was overwhelmed with my QCT5 Pro software and your videos were a God send. I was able to set a pattern in a block and do a small two row Panto design yesterday. I have only watched your videos all day today. I'll try the software again tomorrow. Happy New Year!!!

Brilliant using the Marking tool to line up the quilt. I incorporated it into my tool apron after the first time I saw you use it. Great job!

Wow thanks for more great info using the marking tool!
Question: Can you share why and how you decide to stitch off and not stitch off the edge of quilt?

When I am quilting a Quilts For Kids quilt, I will be trimming the backing an inch from the quilt top so that it can be folded over to the top to form the binding. That is when I don't quilt off the edge.

Hi Janet, Thank you so much for your videos they are so helpful as I am starting just now with QCT5 on a continuum frame with q'nique 15R. I noticed on your video you have an idler rail, my UK agent said I couldn't have an idler rail fitted with the 15R and there you are on your video with one fitted. You did mention on one of your videos that you lost a bit of quilting space could you let me know how much depth you lose and what magic your husband did to fit the rail. I have very arthritic hands and constantly changing the height of the back rail is challenging so your information would be a great help. Also on one of your videos I noticed you had some thread clips with like a hook on the end which I'm guessing would help getting the bobbin thread up. I've looked online and can't find something similar so it would be helpful to know the maker. Thanks again for the great videos

The little scissors I'm using were bought at a quilt show - but here is the website they are from: famorecutlery.com/ez-snip-a-stitch
They are made in Germany and are wonderful scissors!! I have both the ones with a hook and ones without. Love their spring action. Couldn't do without them!
Having an idler rail is truly a personal choice! Seriously....only YOU can decide. Not someone else for you. Yes, you do lose some quilting space. My first machine was a Q'nique 14+ on the original Continuum with an idler rail. I lost about 3" and I can't say if the Q'nique 15 design is exactly like the 14+ so I don't know if the loss is still the same? I *do* know that I preferred the loss of inches over having to keep up with raising the take-up rail. You get used to the quilting space that you have and make it work. I can honestly tell you I was happy as a clam - and still am - to have the idler rail. Here's the video showing Doug installing the idler rail: th-cam.com/video/bP-P-nRGpcE/w-d-xo.html

I'd love to see how you correct a really wonky top. When all is lined up perfectly it looks so easy!

Some wonky quilts.....I'm just happy to "get in the ballpark" 😄 I often use starch & misting water and steam iron to get out waves.....but I've learned to baste edges down as best I can before using that, else the edges start drawing in. If I can force something about the top to be where I want it, then I'll use curved safety pins from my sit-down quilting days - I slide them in but don't fasten so they're quick to put in and take out.
I also have to make allowances for dense stitching that pulls quilt top in.
