  • In this video I demonstrate how to replace the oil filter on a Audi 2L diesel engine . This process will be very similar on the other Volkswagen group vehicles, VW, Seat, Skoda with a 2lt diesel engine between approximately 2006-2015

    My 11 plate Golf TDi needs an oil change soon, and I was going to book it in at a garage, but I thought I'd just have a look online to see how bad the job is on these. The mk1 MX5 I had was a total bitch to swap the oil filter on !!! That thing was so inaccessible that it pushed me into getting basic servicing done at garages. This on the other hand looks to be an absolute doddle.
    The filter is almost as accessible as on my 2.0 Capri back in the day. On that thing there was so much under bonnet space that you could get to everything ridiculously easily.
    Thanks for the info.

    When I did this I removed the EGR pipe also, didn't realise it does indeed fit through the gap!

    Good explanation... but it would be great to show the location of the carter Oil screw!!! Thanks for sharing.... :-)

    I snapped the stalk off the filter cap by accident. The cap and the stalk are now 2 separate pieces! 🙈
    If I push the stalk back into the housing and screw the cap back on with the filter attached...would it be OK the drive the car temporarily?

      @@J_Dawg hey, you might be able to clip the stalk back into the cap, some of them clip in.

    So on my 01m which is on bottom of car the paper filter shouldn’t stick up in there by itself?

    • @GarageTechAutomotive
      @GarageTechAutomotive  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It should come out with the housing cup, but I have seen it before where the filter gets stuck inside, just need to pull it out. Happens the same with some of the engines with the filter on top. Make sure the new filter is clipped into the cup before refitting 👍🏼

    • @KollynJ
      @KollynJ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GarageTechAutomotive ok. Was definitely clipped into cup. It just seemed to me like it could be done that way or stuck into the housing first and then screw the cup on? I just figured it should and would pressure fit by itself into the car because it has that plunger like end with an oring, similar to an stf filter. Just wanted to make sure bc it was just dropping out

    How many liters of oil goes into this particular engine? Thanks

      Thanks for your answer, because I have the same engine on Audi Q3 2.0 Tdi 140 cv 2014 and I did oil change and filter by my self, and After 4 liters the oil dipstick marks full

    Hi could you tell me how to get the oil filter out On 2020 Audi A4 . The coolant bottle is very near it and there seems to be no space to remove it.

    • @philipcollier263
      @philipcollier263 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I appreciate I'm a bit late but if you're still wondering about that, the coolant bottle is only held to the by one T20 and should have two plastic sticks at the bottom that slot into the bracket to hold it in place. If you take out the T20 and lift the bottle up, it should give you just enough wiggle room to be able to reach the oil filter housing (you'll probably need a hinged joint on your socket to be able to get to it properly though.)
      Just slot the bottle back into the bracket and tighten the T20 back up (doesn't need to be super tight. Just firm. It's only into plastic)

    What would the miles be between the next service on long life oil cffb engine

    • @GarageTechAutomotive
      @GarageTechAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Up to approximately 20,000 miles or 24 months, whichever comes first but the car will monitor the condition of the oil so the oil service light could come on much earlier and it usually does. I’d say on average 16-18k miles

    • @GarageTechAutomotive
      @GarageTechAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tonykurt9647 yeah sounds like it was reset to standard servicing or fixed as they call it, so that’s about 9k miles or 12 months

      For the cost of a filter and some oil I change mine every 9-10k and I do fuel, air and cabin every other oil change, so at 18/20k.
