    Can’t thank you enough for posting this video. Best of many TH-cam offerings on this subject. I rewatched the video this morning and then changed front left cv axel on my Ridgeline. Piece of cake except for a 10 minute wrestling match with the lower ball joint.

      My 08 ridgeline is leaking grease, I see a axle change in my future. Great video 👍👍

    job well done, sir!I was totally stressed because my passenger side wheel slipped off its' spline while I was changing the strut...(I know, I know). Now I know that it won't be such a big deal putting it back in place. Thanks a mil!

    ⚠️ Warning: do not try this approach if your sway-bar arm hex screws are seized to the bolt with rust (especially if you don't have impact wrench). If you try to turn rust-seized bolt from hex screw manually, it will strip. Then you'll need to saw off the screws and replace the entire sway bar arm. Much safer to do approach that disconnects the strut and knuckle.

      If your sway bar links are that rusty they probably need to be changed anyway.

      I think you mean hex nuts not hex screws.

    What kind fluid was leaking? Is it from Hypoid Gear Oil from the transfer case?

    I saw another guy did the same thing on passenger side by only disconnecting stabilizer link. No need to disconnect ball joint.

    Thanks for showing how to avoid the re-alignment. It should help me because I'm using cam bolts because of a 2 inch strut lift as well. I'll see if it works tomorrow. 👍

      you probably dont care but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother for the last few weeks :)

    Those axles are not the same size. Ridgelines are notorious for having problems with aftermarket axles.

      @@wanelly yeah, I'm sure he has/the driver has by now lol the forums are pretty adamant about avoiding after market axles. The only okay stories I've heard are with NAPA gold, but even then I've read of problems with them.

      Axles rarely go bad. Change the boots & or rollers

    • @3434abab
      @3434abab 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They compress and expand a couple of inches. One is just a bit more compressed than the other. The outer pleats in the rubber on the new joint are compressed too.

    how do you change the inner boot. Mine is leaking grease but its clean.

    • @robertberin4872
      @robertberin4872 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @DONT BE SHEEP Nope. I changed the boot using the help of this vid & $13 ACDelco boot from rock auto. th-cam.com/video/7ra1lXslT7E/w-d-xo.html

    Is this $60 axle still holding up?

  • @seanugly

    7:30 are you tapping it with a mallet or all by hand?

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By hand, however, we have used a ball-peen hammer on some other models. If you use a hammer, first put the nut onto the threads and then put the socket onto the nut, then hit the socket with the hammer. This Ridgeline, we just wiggled and pushed it in by hand until the clip snapped in.

    Was it necessary to remove sway bar link? Can this job be done without removing it?

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe? Although it allows you to move things around a lot easier when disconnected.

    hey i have a 2010 honda ridgeline, i need a drive shaft replacement but i don't know which one i need. how do i tell?

    • @gtells
      @gtells 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Caribbean Marine Care if you get a clunking noise in a turn to the right it is probably the front left axel and vice versa. There are a lot of other things that can cause noises so do your homework.

      Depends if you have the oem control arm or aftermarket. Stock is 19mm. Detroit axle is 21mm

    Anyone having issues using aftermarket axles? I really don’t wanna shell out 500 in parts alone for new ones

      I like to buy “new” versus “re manufactured” NAPA Auto Parts sells decent CV Axles.
