  • There was some lost video when the recording was going on, so if you see jumps in the progress that was made, then that was the lost video, sorry about that. But this is the first part of my two part series of the tear down of my genset, I hope this helps you on your set, and enjoy!

You can put a different generator on your motor…

That’s a good point, but I did manages to rebuild the original head, and she runs and purrs to this day! Puts out good power too, my lithium battery bank is happy, as well as my AC unit when I’m camping and fishing! I know I’m no generator expert, but with the help of some nice people, I was able to bring her back to life with the original power head!

Hi Will, can you please give me your model and serial numbers if readable so I can get parts for mine. Label is gone. Thank you for the video 👍🏻

Sorry for my late response, this is what I believe my Genset serial number is to the best of my ability, it is quite worn after all.

Can a different head be adapted to it?

I’m not sure myself, but someone did commend about that, maybe they could help you? I’m sure it’s possible, but the retrofit may be more expensive than rebuilding the original. Try and budget out both before making the decision for sure!

I have an older 6500 watt Emerald 3 in my rv that doesn’t produce good power anymore. To replace the entire unit would cost me close to 10k. I did much research and found a place that will ship a replacement head to mate with my onan motor for about 1300 plus shipping. If you call them up, they’ll send you an email with instructions and a video of the measurements they need to make sure you get the right unit.

@@ErikL-qr8lr Do you by chance still have that company name or number to help out @mafosa8519? I’m sure he would appreciate it.
Also, side question, are they really selling old Onan 6.5 gensets for 10K? That just sounds a lot to me. I remember buying mine for $300 used and not running. And spending $800 on all parts to get her running great again. So unless maybe it’s a new Genset that is rated at 6500watts, then I would be able to see that maybe running 10k.
