@jeffoff7795 I call it the smash bros effect. In smash bros as a new player you can easily beat a veteran or even a professional player. Why? Because they're are so many moves that are so unsafe unless used in a specific situation that a veteran player will never even consider someone using them unless in said specific situation. Meaning they can be caught off guard by spamming these moves and lose because they are used to a everyone playing a similar way. The same thing applies to Phil. Phil gets to these high ranks where everyone is expected to play a certain way with each character. Then here comes Phil doing the dumbest shit possible that completely throws off good players rhythm. If he you notice the best players who beat Phil either A. Stop Phil from attacking at all so he can't throw them off or B. Adapt and devolve into absolute noob tactics that will work on Phil because he's just spamming such as spamming low kick.

I was really confused here. Can’t he just block it or parry? Maybe he didn’t have enough drive meter for parry but you can block it can’t you? Or does it do chip damage? He had such small health maybe blocking wouldn’t help there.

The lack of tips must really be getting to him. He really fights to downplay his rage and loathing at the dents for not dutifully paying what they owe him, but you can see it manifest when he plays Street Fighter. I think it's an outlet for that frustration. He can't actually berate the dents for not giving him his money, so he'll lash out at a video game. Truly pitiable.

@@Gankstomper It's what most of Dave's wins consist of too, he's just in a rank where people can't meaty or frametrap properly or drop their combos. So DSP mashes SPD during everything and gets an easy 20-30% when it connects, while the low Diamonds he's playing can't finish a basic combo that'd do 10% at best. So he just wins by war of attrition mashing 360. Soon as he ranks up, he's done playing this character because this trash tactic of his doesn't work much longer, it's already starting to fall apart in this league. But it's those other players he loses to that have no skill and don't know how to play. DSP who thinks crLK is somehow throw invincible is the one who understands fighting games way better.

He wants to brag about how he has "bottom tier characters" at master, while also telling everyone that getting to master takes no skill when others get there. He thinks he's a pro who has such deep and latent skill in all fighting games, but the actual pros can get bottom their characters to master in one sitting... Not a months worth of playing just to hope he finds enough players who will walk into his attacks and feed him points until he hits master. (which is how he got to master on every other character) Then he will revert this character back to casual as to not lose ranking points like he does with all of his other characters. Dsp is a joke.

What I'm seeing here in this video is that all of his complaints are all about the fact that his tactics and playstyle doesn't work against his opponent. But he refuses to recognize it and blames his opponent instead while having a tantrum. This is such a juvenile mindset. Also, how ANYONE can find this behaviour entertaining is absolutely beyond me. He's not doing it ironically or overexaggerating for fun; this is how he actually is.

Anybody with a brain will just hold their ground and parry or block. If you have meter qnd the opponent doesn't, then you have the advantage regardless of what is flying at you.
@@SF61984 Block wouldn't be possible since Supers deal chip damage. The only ways to get out of that situation would have been the Parry (assuming the opponent wouldn't try a throw) or a cross-up attempt
I have the DSP SF handbook figured out, n lessons can be learned for future legends of the game..... -Against top tiers, they ALWAYS counter your character n can strike thru ANYTHING w free throws galore. -Against mid tiers, your inputs drop and the game fails u on every level. -Against low tiers, the player is just a button mashing scrub with no actual skill whatsoever.
You know, I always wanted to go through one of these and try and pinpoint the answer to every question or complaint he makes in one of these videos--to the best of my ability. I'm not an amazing player by any means, I don't play online with randoms much at all. The majority of my playtime is alone in training mode (I personally find labbing relaxing) or in private lobbies with friends. I really enjoy analyzing footage and frame data, though, so I believe making this should be pretty fun for me. I wont be getting absolutely EVERYTHING but hitting most things that are phrased like questions for the game. Let’s begin. I’m preparing this all on a document beforehand so I might have to cut this into parts in replies. (1/2) 0:13 [“Can’t do anything”] Cammy DR 2HP is +5 on block, setting up for a strike/tick throw mixup. He gambled on a parry to cover the strike which in this scenario I believe only would have been correct for perfect vs crouching or standing medium punch if she intended a strike. Jump would have won, but delay tech would have been safest especially since he proceeds to bemoan the strike throw mixup (which he claims is between mashed jab, but if Cammy truly mashed jab, the blockstring would have been true and there would have been no mixup). He did do something but guessed wrong on a gamble he didn’t have to make. (Although I recall someone pointing out Phil doesn’t believe delay tech exists) 0:24 [“DR on fight, giant combo, can't do anything about it”] Both Cammy and Phil's Zangief drive rush on fight, but Zangief's is a good few frames afterwards. Cammy’s DR is already faster to cancel than zangief’s by 2 frames on lights and equal on their mediums, so this can be considered a loss on Fight immediately. Only if Zangief inputted his DR 2 frames before could they even trade with lights. The mistake in this case was gambling on doing DR on fight vs a character with a better DR. Additionally, Gief’s options off of DR on Fight seem limited and bad especially if the opponent chooses to walk back. 0:27 [“Can't break that throw, not possible”] After medium backfist you should 100% be looking for the tick there. You could have jumped or most safely delay teched. He was sleeping at the wheel. 0:30 [“Can’t duck that, not possible”] It would have whiffed if you were holding down on wakeup. Also H hooligan after back recovery forward throw loses to LITERALLY every normal Gief has other than crouching light punch and crouching light kick. Every other option on reaction stuffs it or makes it whiff. You can even Air SPD on wakeup if you call it out. By all means, this Cammy made a gamble that phil was asleep at the wheel. 0:39 [“Neutral Jump completely safe for her, I have to go through the throw setup”] Cammy appears to jump a tick command throw phil sets up with DR standing light punch. However, in my testing, this setup DOES NOT WORK, even when the opponent blocks standing LP crouching even closer than in this clip (unsure if this is a patch change). Even in the scenario where this setup CAN work even when the opponent does nothing but down back, a jump there would have been a reasonable response to a potential command throw tick but would have lost should phil have done a normal to catch jump instead. 0:43 [“Free throw, can't do anything about that”] Phil hit by the M Backfist tick once more. Could have jumped or delay teched. 0:48 [“Mash Jab, beats everything, just mash jab] Phil fails to react to a whiffed jumping heavy kick fast enough. He could have caught Cammy with a normal as she landed, of course it beats everything he does because he allowed a faster character to recover in his face. Bemoans that this requires no skill, what else did he want her to do? Give him back the turn he gave up? 1:02 [“Couldn’t Block!”] Well no duh you couldn’t block, you got Punish Countered. 1:07 [“That’s not what I did, are you kidding? Twice I did EX 360”] Misinput’s lariat when he wanted EX SPD. Then mashes EX SPD while she’s comboing him and wonders why he gets punished for it. He then goes on to complain that lariat only could have come out if he didnt move the stick, which is untrue, Zangief has no punch specials other than SPD, lariat would have come out with any motion other than 360. He’s trying to make his misinput sound less plausible than it actually is and then tries to convince people that it then STORED his desired input and then gave it to him after Cammy did her short combo which is completely ridiculous. He was pressing when he should not have been. 1:50 [“You can’t throw low short!! You literally can’t throw low short!”] You very much can throw a crouching light kick. What is he talking about? Does he think it has frame 1 throw invuln? He’s expecting to be throw invuln on WAKEUP with a normal!? Is this some legacy tech I don't know? 1:57 [“I didn’t do anything yet the kick hits, it’s so f__ing delayed”] Well you sure as hell weren’t blocking either. Are you meaning to tell me you weren’t blocking pre-emptively as you were landing? Are you trying to block normals on reaction? 2:05 [“I’m not doing anything! I’m down-backing but it hits me anyway!”] counter hit 2:11 [“Then my punch comes out late air-to-air”] This one is a reasonable mistake for someone to make but blames it on the game’s delay. I could see reacting to the Ryu’s jump being tough but it’s not rocket science to figure out why Ryu’s jumping medium kick beat your jumping neutral heavy punch when the Ryu had the advantage of not needing to react as well as having a button that hits in front faster. 2:31 [“Pressed the button! Nothing! Literally he just empty jumps over and over and I can't do nothing about it”] Phil misses a throw tech and then gets empty jump punish counter thrown out of his attempted parry on wakeup. If this guy is empty jumping so much why don't you read that and steal your turn back? 2:41 [“Didn’t combo, for no good reason”] missed a 2 frame link. Unwilling to confront this reality. 2:47 [“What the f__? Why did that combo?] I cannot tell if he is referring to punish counter crouching light punch into crouching medium, or regular crouching medium into DR crouching medium, but my answer for both is the same. Because it’s a combo that is in the game. He then goes on to complain why he got hit in the first place and claims he empty jumped which he DID NOT DO, he tried to cross up with jumping light kick but was too close so his cross-up went to far. He claims the ryu was terrible. I’d argue that knowing his jab was going to punish counter a landing jump-in and knowing the proper way to optimize that situation was pretty skillful. Props to that ryu. 3:30 [“Immediately I guessed on fight and he gets a giant combo”] I cant very well see how the actual round started due to the camera angle but judging by the audio, once again he gambles on doing DR on Fight and gets crossed up for it. You shouldn’t be complaining that your gambles have risk, you didnt HAVE to drive rush there. Claims that Luke got especially rewarded for guessing and forward jumping on fight. I do think basically any character with a cross-up normal would have gotten rewarded there. He’s trying to obfuscate people’s achievements behind tiers again. 3:38 [“I’m not pressing a button, huh? Can’t do anything”] I can only assume by Phil’s words that he was intending to try and stuff the DR throw with a normal but failed. I assume this luke resets his block pressure with drive rush throw with a reset that is too tight to mash. Phil then tries to parry on wakeup but gets looped with another throw. Once again delay tech could have served him. Phil then gets shimmied and combo’d to death. He then complains he lost to luke in the corner because luke is top tier, even though the final interaction was all universal mechanics any character could have done. 4:00 [“I can’t do anything! He just won by throwing the entire round!”] Phil gets grabbed out of parry from drive rush once again. 4:04 [“He just won by mashing buttons! This is so sad! You suck!”] Phil blocks Luke’s cross up jumping medium kick on wakeup. Phil attempts to take his turn by mashing after luke lands, but luke is at MINIMUM +4 on block with jumping medium kick. Ironically, luke didn't win by mashing, phil LOST by mashing. Props to the Luke. 4:27 [“Can’t do anything. Can’t do anything, it stuffs all of my moves!”] Phil tries to mash against a throw loop and wonders why it doesn't work. It’s almost like a 5 frame meaty beats a 5 frame wakeup or something! 4:31 [“What the f__ how did he jump through my kick!?”] Attempting to microwalk into safejum after counter-hit sweep, phil takes way too long to jump AND way too long to press jumping light kick. You can see that he lands before his move even becomes active, but wonders why luke “goes right through” his attack that totally came out and that he totally timed correctly. Claims that because he’s luke he can just hold neutral jump and phase through all of his “meaties.” 5:50 [“Why did that just f__ing hit me?”] Phil doesn’t block the cross-up. 5:53 [“I’m doing it!!”] Phil fails to tech a tick throw 6:00 [“Can’t block that! You can’t block that on reaction online”] Phil doesn’t block the meaty cross-up EX backfist. Pretty sure you can block that on 17ms though. Even if the cross up gives you trouble, parry should be able to deal with left-right. 6:10 [“Can’t do anything!”] Phil stops blocking or attempts to jump out in between Cammy doing standing light kick into standing jab. Complains that his attempts to interrupt it dont work. Maybe dont mash or stop blocking in 4 frame gaps?
(Part 2 of 2) 6:27 [“It beat- [lariat] I told you!”] Phil attempts to stuff hooligan on wakeup withan honestly quite late lariat. I dont know the exact wakeup situation before the clip but as I said before, you can stuff it on wakeup from throw pretty easily with most normals. Claims you cannot anti-air hooligan, perhaps you should stuff it with a normal rather than a high startup special. 7:00 [“Of course just neutral jump! Because I can’t punish it!”] Phil attempts to SPD the cammy as they wake up. Cammy reads a potential command throw by jumping. Claims even if he just sat there he couldn’t do anything about it. You know you have a really good jump callout air SPD? 7:19 [“Why am I getting hit, I tried to parry!”] Gets counter hit for potentially misinputting a medium button outside of parry. Honestly seems like an honest misinput to me but he doesn't admit fault. 7:29 [“Why am I getting hit, I’m parrying!!] Phil imperfect parries the EX backfist (Hey! He did the thing I said you might be able to do!) but then holds the parry down for too long after the move, putting him in a punish counter state as his parry recovers. 8:00 [“I still cant do anything! She can still just walk up and press buttons!”] Phil gets air to air knockdowned and recovers in place, wonders why the opponent can meaty? 8:33 [“What the f- look at this stupid s__!”] Most characters in the game can loop heavy > medium > Drive Rush Cancel. It does a lot of damage and is very easy to do, and since it’s expensive on drive gauge is a safe way to close out the match without spending super. This is not at all exclusive to the top tiers. 8:48 [“You can’t 360 it. That fierce, it stuffs all of my moves!”] In this specific scenario, it seems like the standing heavy punch hits gief before SPD even comes out properly. In other scenarios, I imagine this would be because who would have guessed a STANDING, SOMEWHAT ADVANCING NORMAL has more range than a command grab. Then complains that Ed lv2 never disappears until it goes off screen 9:27 [“Where’s my 360!”] The gap between ed jab into throw is technically large enough for an SPD, so in this case I can only assume phil either misinputted or inputted SPD too late. Starts claiming that “literally all of his moves stuff mine.” Phil, are you expecting your move on wakeup and recovery to beat a move or throw on meaty? Phil just panics trying to get out of every bad situation he’s ever put in, and when the opponent’s offense doesn’t allow him to be stupid, he complains that it’s actually the OPPONENT who has no skill. Claims he’s getting mixed in the corner (strike throw on wakeup and air recovery which he should be delay teching) 10:15 [“Can’t block! Are you f__ing s__ing me!? It doesn't block!”] counter hit 10:30 [“What the f__ it didn’t combo now!?”] Missed the 2 frame link on DR crouching light punch into crouching medium punch again. Claims the Guile has every possible lucky advantage (luck made him drop?) 10:59 [“I’m not attacking”] counter hit 11:35 [“I literally can’t walk and block, the game is to laggy”] Then adapt to the timing of the delay in the room with us right now 13:02 [“Couldn’t do anything! I parried then went for a low short”] Held parry for too long and got thrown 13:20 [“I cant do anything! All of these people with little jab strings beat everything he has!”] I’ll give it up that on defense, gief can’t abare in many places against characters with fast jabs. But that should mean that instead of TRYING TO ANYWAY, you should hold the ensuing offense and be patient. Claiming that every rushdown character has learned a specific pattern to beat Zangief with NO CHANCE for escape is ridiculous and his excuse for refusing to learn where those gaps actually are and improving as a player. 13:48 [“I pushed mine! Nope! Mashing drive impact, free combo for her”] Gief crouching heavy kick is 27 frames of recovery and is NOT cancellable, DI has 25 frames of startup and therefore will always beat it with no chance for the gief to DI back. If he was specifically complaining about the kim DI-ing at this range, perhaps she learned that it works at that range where you might want to sweep her. 13:53 [“Another free combo! Neutral jump even though I should be safe to block there!”] Phil gets his throw tech baited by neutral jump and punished. Phil is right that you are safe on throw whiff vs neutral jump IF the characters are decently neutral in terms of frame advantage. However, this setup set kim to be decently plus so it’s no wonder why the punish was possible. Pretty smart play by the kim tbh. 14:22 [“How do you make the quintessential grappler of street fighter a piece of stinky dogs__”] Wasn’t Zangief significantly less playable than this in every game except for versions of SF4? Including the game that Phil derives his evo notoriety from? (surely I am missing some examples of good gief somewhere, 4 is just what comes to mind) 15:20 [“Don’t know why I parried but I couldn’t do anything after] all versions of fully charged gladius are +4 on block. Imperfect parry does not change the frame advantage on block at all. Your move got stuffed because you were -4 there. 15:44 [“What!? I blocked the first hit and then the 2nd and 3rd hit just hit!”] Marisa’s fully charged standing heavy punch is +4 on block, that counter hit message tells us you were mashing between standing heavy and standing medium punch. That’s a frame trap. 15:55 [“I’m not attacking! I am standing neutral blocking!”] 2 possibilities. Looks to me like her move catches phil on the very tail end of his backdash. Is also possible that he was LITERALLY standing “neutral” 17:05 [“Free level 3 combo off of a spam. All because my move doesn’t come out, I was trying to punish her gladius!”] you allowed her gladius to fully charge, making it +4. You were minus there. 18:25 [“Of course she gets to cancel, of course she does!”] Marisa’s standing medium kick has 16 frames of recovery and is not special cancellable. It’s always possible to link DI after the recovery if it hits early on enough
(Part 3 of 2, I think I hit a character limit below what online sources actually say it is, so my plans got messed up) 20:04 [“Stuff’s everything! Stuffs everything! Same Combo! Same Gameplay!(x3)”] Complains that someone caught his whiffed jump in with a move that hit before his could come out because he was landing. Then complains his move got stuffed on wakeup (because he got hit by a meaty.) Complains that the opponent did a combo. Complains that the opponent jumps (where she was plus anyways so SPD wouldn’t have worked on a fast option if she did anything else). Complains that he got hit while he wasn’t attacking (we can hear the counter hit noise). Complains that the opponent is doing the same strategy over and over (running any pressure whatsoever). Soon as he ranks up, he's done playing this character because this trash tactic of his doesn't work much longer, it's already starting to fall apart in this league.

You know, I always wanted to go through one of these and try and pinpoint the answer to every question or complaint he makes in one of these videos--to the best of my ability. I'm not an amazing player by any means, I don't play online with randoms much at all. The majority of my playtime is alone in training mode (I personally find labbing relaxing) or in private lobbies with friends. I really enjoy analyzing footage and frame data, though, so I believe making this should be pretty fun for me. I wont be getting absolutely EVERYTHING but hitting most things that are phrased like questions for the game. Let’s begin. I’m preparing this all on a document beforehand so I might have to cut this into parts in replies.

0:13 [“Can’t do anything”] Cammy DR 2HP is +5 on block, setting up for a strike/tick throw mixup. He gambled on a parry to cover the strike which in this scenario I believe only would have been correct for perfect vs crouching or standing medium punch if she intended a strike. Jump would have won, but delay tech would have been safest especially since he proceeds to bemoan the strike throw mixup (which he claims is between mashed jab, but if Cammy truly mashed jab, the blockstring would have been true and there would have been no mixup). He did do something but guessed wrong on a gamble he didn’t have to make. (Although I recall someone pointing out Phil doesn’t believe delay tech exists)
0:24 [“DR on fight, giant combo, can't do anything about it”] Both Cammy and Phil's Zangief drive rush on fight, but Zangief's is a good few frames afterwards. Cammy’s DR is already faster to cancel than zangief’s by 2 frames on lights and equal on their mediums, so this can be considered a loss on Fight immediately. Only if Zangief inputted his DR 2 frames before could they even trade with lights. The mistake in this case was gambling on doing DR on fight vs a character with a better DR. Additionally, Gief’s options off of DR on Fight seem limited and bad especially if the opponent chooses to walk back.
0:27 [“Can't break that throw, not possible”] After medium backfist you should 100% be looking for the tick there. You could have jumped or most safely delay teched. He was sleeping at the wheel.
0:30 [“Can’t duck that, not possible”] It would have whiffed if you were holding down on wakeup. Also H hooligan after back recovery forward throw loses to LITERALLY every normal Gief has other than crouching light punch and crouching light kick. Every other option on reaction stuffs it or makes it whiff. You can even Air SPD on wakeup if you call it out. By all means, this Cammy made a gamble that phil was asleep at the wheel.
0:39 [“Neutral Jump completely safe for her, I have to go through the throw setup”] Cammy appears to jump a tick command throw phil sets up with DR standing light punch. However, in my testing, this setup DOES NOT WORK, even when the opponent blocks standing LP crouching even closer than in this clip (unsure if this is a patch change). Even in the scenario where this setup CAN work even when the opponent does nothing but down back, a jump there would have been a reasonable response to a potential command throw tick but would have lost should phil have done a normal to catch jump instead.

He’s trying to make his misinput sound less plausible than it actually is and then tries to convince people that it then STORED his desired input and then gave it to him after Cammy did her short combo which is completely ridiculous. He was pressing when he should not have been.
1:50 [“You can’t throw low short!! You literally can’t throw low short!”] You very much can throw a crouching light kick. What is he talking about? Does he think it has frame 1 throw invuln? He’s expecting to be throw invuln on WAKEUP with a normal!? Is this some legacy tech I don't know?

I could see reacting to the Ryu’s jump being tough but it’s not rocket science to figure out why Ryu’s jumping medium kick beat your jumping neutral heavy punch when the Ryu had the advantage of not needing to react as well as having a button that hits in front faster.

Literally he just empty jumps over and over and I can't do nothing about it”] Phil misses a throw tech and then gets empty jump punish counter thrown out of his attempted parry on wakeup. If this guy is empty jumping so much why don't you read that and steal your turn back?

Why did that combo?] I cannot tell if he is referring to punish counter crouching light punch into crouching medium, or regular crouching medium into DR crouching medium, but my answer for both is the same. Because it’s a combo that is in the game. He then goes on to complain why he got hit in the first place and claims he empty jumped which he DID NOT DO, he tried to cross up with jumping light kick but was too close so his cross-up went to far. He claims the ryu was terrible. I’d argue that knowing his jab was going to punish counter a landing jump-in and knowing the proper way to optimize that situation was pretty skillful. Props to that ryu.
3:30 [“Immediately I guessed on fight and he gets a giant combo”] I cant very well see how the actual round started due to the camera angle but judging by the audio, once again he gambles on doing DR on Fight and gets crossed up for it. You shouldn’t be complaining that your gambles have risk, you didnt HAVE to drive rush there. Claims that Luke got especially rewarded for guessing and forward jumping on fight. I do think basically any character with a cross-up normal would have gotten rewarded there. He’s trying to obfuscate people’s achievements behind tiers again.
3:38 [“I’m not pressing a button, huh? Can’t do anything”] I can only assume by Phil’s words that he was intending to try and stuff the DR throw with a normal but failed. I assume this luke resets his block pressure with drive rush throw with a reset that is too tight to mash. Phil then tries to parry on wakeup but gets looped with another throw. Once again delay tech could have served him. Phil then gets shimmied and combo’d to death. He then complains he lost to luke in the corner because luke is top tier, even though the final interaction was all universal mechanics any character could have done.
4:00 [“I can’t do anything! He just won by throwing the entire round!”] Phil gets grabbed out of parry from drive rush once again.
4:04 [“He just won by mashing buttons! This is so sad! You suck!”] Phil blocks Luke’s cross up jumping medium kick on wakeup. Phil attempts to take his turn by mashing after luke lands, but luke is at MINIMUM +4 on block with jumping medium kick. Ironically, luke didn't win by mashing, phil LOST by mashing. Props to the Luke.
4:27 [“Can’t do anything. Can’t do anything, it stuffs all of my moves!”] Phil tries to mash against a throw loop and wonders why it doesn't work. It’s almost like a 5 frame meaty beats a 5 frame wakeup or something!
4:31 [“What the f__ how did he jump through my kick!?”] Attempting to microwalk into safejum after counter-hit sweep, phil takes way too long to jump AND way too long to press jumping light kick. You can see that he lands before his move even becomes active, but wonders why luke “goes right through” his attack that totally came out and that he totally timed correctly. Claims that because he’s luke he can just hold neutral jump and phase through all of his “meaties.”

6:10 [“Can’t do anything!”] Phil stops blocking or attempts to jump out in between Cammy doing standing light kick into standing jab. Complains that his attempts to interrupt it dont work. Maybe dont mash or stop blocking in 4 frame gaps?

I dont know the exact wakeup situation before the clip but as I said before, you can stuff it on wakeup from throw pretty easily with most normals. Claims you cannot anti-air hooligan, perhaps you should stuff it with a normal rather than a high startup special.
7:00 [“Of course just neutral jump! Because I can’t punish it!”] Phil attempts to SPD the cammy as they wake up. Cammy reads a potential command throw by jumping. Claims even if he just sat there he couldn’t do anything about it. You know you have a really good jump callout air SPD?
7:19 [“Why am I getting hit, I tried to parry!”] Gets counter hit for potentially misinputting a medium button outside of parry. Honestly seems like an honest misinput to me but he doesn't admit fault.
7:29 [“Why am I getting hit, I’m parrying!!] Phil imperfect parries the EX backfist (Hey! He did the thing I said you might be able to do!) but then holds the parry down for too long after the move, putting him in a punish counter state as his parry recovers.
8:00 [“I still cant do anything! She can still just walk up and press buttons!”] Phil gets air to air knockdowned and recovers in place, wonders why the opponent can meaty?
8:33 [“What the f- look at this stupid s__!”] Most characters in the game can loop heavy > medium > Drive Rush Cancel. It does a lot of damage and is very easy to do, and since it’s expensive on drive gauge is a safe way to close out the match without spending super. This is not at all exclusive to the top tiers.
8:48 [“You can’t 360 it. That fierce, it stuffs all of my moves!”] In this specific scenario, it seems like the standing heavy punch hits gief before SPD even comes out properly. In other scenarios, I imagine this would be because who would have guessed a STANDING, SOMEWHAT ADVANCING NORMAL has more range than a command grab. Then complains that Ed lv2 never disappears until it goes off screen
9:27 [“Where’s my 360!”] The gap between ed jab into throw is technically large enough for an SPD, so in this case I can only assume phil either misinputted or inputted SPD too late. Starts claiming that “literally all of his moves stuff mine.” Phil, are you expecting your move on wakeup and recovery to beat a move or throw on meaty? Phil just panics trying to get out of every bad situation he’s ever put in, and when the opponent’s offense doesn’t allow him to be stupid, he complains that it’s actually the OPPONENT who has no skill. Claims he’s getting mixed in the corner (strike throw on wakeup and air recovery which he should be delay teching)
10:15 [“Can’t block! Are you f__ing s__ing me!? It doesn't block!”] counter hit
10:30 [“What the f__ it didn’t combo now!?”] Missed the 2 frame link on DR crouching light punch into crouching medium punch again. Claims the Guile has every possible lucky advantage (luck made him drop?)

But that should mean that instead of TRYING TO ANYWAY, you should hold the ensuing offense and be patient. Claiming that every rushdown character has learned a specific pattern to beat Zangief with NO CHANCE for escape is ridiculous and his excuse for refusing to learn where those gaps actually are and improving as a player.
13:48 [“I pushed mine! Nope! Mashing drive impact, free combo for her”] Gief crouching heavy kick is 27 frames of recovery and is NOT cancellable, DI has 25 frames of startup and therefore will always beat it with no chance for the gief to DI back. If he was specifically complaining about the kim DI-ing at this range, perhaps she learned that it works at that range where you might want to sweep her.
13:53 [“Another free combo! Neutral jump even though I should be safe to block there!”] Phil gets his throw tech baited by neutral jump and punished. Phil is right that you are safe on throw whiff vs neutral jump IF the characters are decently neutral in terms of frame advantage. However, this setup set kim to be decently plus so it’s no wonder why the punish was possible. Pretty smart play by the kim tbh.
14:22 [“How do you make the quintessential grappler of street fighter a piece of stinky dogs__”] Wasn’t Zangief significantly less playable than this in every game except for versions of SF4? Including the game that Phil derives his evo notoriety from? (surely I am missing some examples of good gief somewhere, 4 is just what comes to mind)

Complains that DI hits his forward heavy kick when it should have been safe, reminder forward heavy kick has 25 frames of recovery after all the active frames, you might be able to block IF DI hits the LAST active frame on its first armor frame.
