Been watching your videos for years Brad, and recently saw the series on the new shop build-out. GREAT to see you both working side-by-side in this endeavor! Best of luck to both of you in the years to come.
I was a machinist mate in the Navy 1971 to 1975 and worked machine shops for electronics companies from 1975 to 2000. Watching your video brought back memories. Really enjoyed it. Having worked shops with 50 plus machinists, your shop was much cleaner than the ones I remember!
Very clean shop! Love those Hardinge lathes! When I move out of my shop, a manual lathe will be one of my first purchases. Right after a forklift. lol. I too had doubts of machining because I was awful at math. Didn’t think I was smart enough. CAD software was my cheat code! Great setup🤙
You have some beautiful machines. How do you keep your shop so spotless? I struggle with organization. I suggest that you get into the machine restoration business. You are gifted.
Thanks for the tour! I've been outfitting my shop over the past few years, and I'm going to start actively looking for work soon. Still not ready to give up the steady paycheck yet. Best of luck in 2025!
Where in NE PA are you located? I’m from Bucks County. We have a lot in common. I went to Vo tech in high school. Had a similar job at a big screw machine shop until I started my tool and die apprenticeship. Nine years after receiving my papers I too started a cabinet and furniture business. I always loved wood working ( still do) after a few years I had the opportunity to do sub contract work for a small company. Ironically he too had a very nice machine shop in his rather large basement. Well before too long I gave up the wood shop. Bought a building and went full speed ahead with my machine shop. After a few years I bought my first CNC. The first one is the hardest. Well that soon turned into another, then another and so on. When I sold the business to my sons there were 15 CNC’s along with a bunch of manual machines. Now I moved to the beach in SC and have a metal and wood shop in my 3 car garage. I love the restorations of the old machines. Your shop is super clean and organized. I wish you great success! Great video young man 👍🏼👍🏼 here is a link to a Modern Machine Shop tour of the shop in PA.
A very nice shop. The only thing I would change is to put everything Grinding in a Grinding area and the Inventory, Compressor and stored items in a totally separate area rather than how you have it at the moment with Grinding mixed with everything ???
You’ve come a long way, baby!!
I still remember winching machines out of your basement to move into the garage!!
Great to see!!

Nice video, you are lucky to have a wife that is interested in the business. You have done a lot of hard work to get your shop to this point!
I wondered what he was up to impressive shop 👌
I've been watching basement shop guy for years. You have to be him because it all fits. It's awesome how your business has grown. Congradulations.
I am him indeed :) And thank you for all the support!
Brad is an awesome dude, built the ultimate shop.
You are a blessed man !
Like that Aloris tool holder rack you made up for your gearhead lathe.
Very inspiring and so tidy
