I've seen him on some other channels and he is so cool. Not playing like he is best, and just honest about be happy to do what he likes and honest about being lucky in the beginning. Much more respect for that personality then for those that say: We did imposable work that no other shop on earth was able to do
When the tour first started off I was thinking a few machines in a shop. Still very interesting to watch a video of these sorts of shops. But the tour continued from 1 machine, to another machine, to another machine ??? WOW, way more to see than I imagined. An amazing story 👍👍
Scaled Shop with Zero Debt... This video appeared when my debt was paid off in the next 2 months, the debt was used to start my shop. I'm sure after that I will make a profit and enlarge my shop. 👍👍☺☺
Nice shop you have. Finding jobs to feed those beasts you have is awesome. I wish I had customers that would pay top $$$ for parts. Even with accurate and fast delivery. I get the Ebenezer Scrooge purchasing agents or companies.
Not everyone has a rich daddy. I’ve seen it many times and even with my own shop, a start with little money. God may just bless you with an opportunity that will get you started. It’s how well you yourself can grow a business. Partnerships are not always the best. I’ve seen several go bad. I started with nothing but some used drill presses and fixtures doing simple production parts. That was the simple beginning. The first debt came years later with the first new CNC machine . Before long there were 15 various CNC’s. I too bought a CMM based on a single job for the military. I’ve since sold the business to my sons 12 years ago and believe it or not they are still making those same simple parts 48 years later, although now done on CNC’s. Those as well as close to 500 repeat orders of different parts. Your drive and ambition will have you reaching for the stars. What you do need is team members with the same values and dedications, for only one man it’s rather limited. Excellent video. 👍🏼👍🏼
Dad moved out when I was little. Saw him every other weekend when I was growing up. He wasn’t a bad Dad. He set the example to have a unbelievable work ethic as a machinist himself. When I was 24 my car broke down and I asked him for $300 to get it fixed and he didn’t have it. That’s the only time I ever asked him for money. I had a ton of help but the help was from the relationships I gained through continuous growth in the industry. People have faith in me to make their parts and I will put in whatever it takes to make that happen. Wish you nothing but love 💯
I built my shop up starting in 2018 with no money at all. Nobody bankrolled me either. Started with a tormach( leased) out of my garage and now have 8 cnc machines. It's not impossible to build something like this. But I understand how it can seem that way if you haven't done something similar.
Eh, we've been super fortunate too. We get jobs, we get machines. We staff more jobs for existing machines and keep expanding capabilities every day. We still did (small) debt (sub 20k) but that was mostly for peace of mind and allowed us to expand even more aggresively.
Those old Matsuura machines are beasts, that's awesome you guys are keeping it in production.

Agreed, Loper Machine is a very impressive shop with a good mix of production and job work.

A new VF-4 is nowhere near 150 grand. Close to half of that:
4th axis and options
How the heck. Must be more to the story. Thinking daddy's bankrollin. Nothin wrong with that btw.
If you want to learn more, here's an hour long sitdown with Alex
