- My Surron won't turn on and in this video I find out why. I bypassed the speed controller and then got power to the bike. this almost certainly means I have some kind of short in my speed controller so I'm sending it back to luna. Luna cycles was awesome with support and are even sending me the new controller before they receive my return. I'm not sure of the official warranty on these bikes but I have heard stories of people getting batteries replaced after a full year of use so I think they treat their customers right for sure. looks like I'll be back up and riding the e-bike in a week so look forward to more videos! I ordered some E bikes from a company out of Texas this last summer and they both had controller issues, it took over two months back and forth with the company before the problems were resolved. They made it right but there communication skills are lacking to say the least.

Yeah that's a downside of small companies generally importing things from China for low prices. If you buy a Yamaha from the factory they have enough money and support to really take care of you but the e-bike scene is still small and undeveloped. That being said I really feel like Luna took care of me and probably took care of me faster than if I had a defect on a Yamaha bike or something like that
I really appreciate you posting real first hand riding and repair videos of the bike. Gives me hope in the e bike world and that you have a good company that will actually warranty a product like that vs telling you "sorry". Stoked to see what you do in the future and see what performance you get out of this with a few different parts.
Honestly it was one of my biggest fears when I was thinking about buying this bike. am I going to break it and not have the support to repair it and then have a big paperweight? Turns out there's amazing community around the surround and Luna support is actually really good to me so far!
We have water crossings where we ride and today my bike cut out after a 18” deep cross had to push for a bit...after messing with the kickstand sensor wire it started to work again but would cut out on bumps. Definitely good to take everything apart as you did but spray all connectors with a product called CorrosionX , marine grade electrical waterproofing.

seems like the luna guys were pretty knowledgeable and helpful. nice to have companies that know what they are talking about, even when they don’t manufacture the products themselves.

Thanks for this video. My Sur Ron experienced this while on a trail ride yesterday. Luckily, I was able to ride downhill all the way to the fire road then walked about a mile to the truck then drove to pick up the bike. It's the holiday weekend so will get a hold of Luna on Tuesday.

Take my advice - moisture is the prime enemy for any controller, it just takes a tiny drop to short out the entire thing and break. Get somebathroom transparent silicone and apply it were to leads enters in and out from the box. The rubber casket is not enough. Seal the gasket too

Came for the e-bike stuff but would like to hear more about what snowbike setup you are running. Not a lot of TH-camrs posting in-depth snowbike vids and I can’t believe the sport hasn’t blown up more. I think it is about the most fun you can have on snow and so easy compared to snowmobiling. Will you be posting videos? Subscribed either way, great content.

I've always had an interest in getting into flying FPV for a hobby (I only have DJI stuff right now and I know fpv is a whole other beast) would you be up for making a video about the kit you have, how long it took you to learn and everything else along the way? btw, It's been realy cool seeing your flights progress at the end of every GHPC video, keep it up!
I will be doing a video on fpv very soon probably on grindard's second channel but a great way to learn is to just buy a radio plug it into your computer and play a Sim it's the only way to do it without breaking the bank. even with my experience in the same I still did a lot of crashing and breaking of parts early on.
@@EdwinOlding haha. Some of the early crashes looked pretty fatal! I'll give it a go. Are there any particular brands to stay away from or any that are the standard in the fpv community? (I've heard that FrSky is pretty common among transmitters) looking forward to the video

It is the dream for sure! I've actually been at it full time for 2 years with my main channel Grind hard plumbing Co and let me tell you it's definitely worth all the hard work!

my dad has the 2019 and the controler was also bad, the throttle would cut out
they initially said they couldn’t cover it as the surron has no warranty but then said they can do half off on a new controller
it works now
my 2020 surron has no issues so far, but i had one cut out while hitting a bump. my tilt sensor and brake sensors are removed
Interesting period maybe they only had the new controllers in stock and it had been so long they couldn't replace it anymore but half off is probably better than at cost even so that's still pretty good
Isnt there a difference between the speed controller and the control unit? Speed controller is about 20-40 USD. Control unit alot more.
My experience with luna customer support was different with email being ignored.. I later read this is their norm..
Please please! This just happened to my husband and he is devastated. What was wrong with it? And did replacing the part fix the problem?
when you had that problem did the bike still run? im having a similar problem, no lights no dash , no horn but the bike runs perfectly fine and diagnostic light is blink 1 which means everything is find . luna said check all connections and every looks good , fuse and breaker good 🤷♂️

If you want to solve the problem, shave a layer of metal and add a copper cooling plate and water cool it... Swap that motor with the qs watercooled motor..
What if you pull the positive terminal and you still don’t have power? Lol my issue now
Long story short I was re wiring my sur ron rear light and didn't turn off the circuit breaker there was a spark and no my sur ron won't turn on any suggestions?? Thanks

"people getting batteries replaced after a full year of use" here in europe everything has 2 years legal waranty, and arround the world it should be at least 1 year waranty.
Dam you have had your sur Ron awhile. You should do a plug on ghpc . You will get more viewers for sure . I just started watching 6 months ago & got mine 1 mo. Ago . Look at Rudy , (rad) he’s got almost 200,00 from his dads viewers at Matt’s off-road recovery.

Fix the garage 😒 Dude, clean the sur-ron Real good to begin with. Make sure you have internally cleaned and plan the wiring if needed to zipped more better and so on.

Oh yeah that bike is unstoppable! Thinking about building a full suspension MTB in the spring. but the thing is if I have a few hours available in an afternoon am I going to take out the MTB or the surron??

While this channel isn’t super popular yet (comments will get seen), I want to take the opportunity to ask some questions. I’m into literally everything on GHPC: Small gas engines, FPV (check my channel!), and electric bikes. I want to just ask, what is your advice on creating a successful TH-cam channel? Because yours are insane. BTW, your flying has gotten SO much better man.
I think the biggest factor is tell a good story and keep people's attention in each video. That was our formula for grind hard do something ridiculous and cut out all the boring parts to keep people engaged as possible. If TH-cam notices that when people click your video people watch most of it that's a good sign . Thumbnails are also crazy important try to make it so someone couldn't possibly scroll past it. If your thumbnail gets clicked more than others and once they click it if they stick around and watch the video then TH-cam decides people really like that video and then it'll share it on the homepage and stuff like that. I might do a full video about it on this channel. This channel is really just to be part of the community and add in my two cents whenever I can haha

@@EdwinOlding someone was just kickedout of there facebook group. they said they only made one post asking which bike to get Segway vs SurRon. went an ordered the SurRon from luna tried to go back to thank everyone for advice. but was kicked..

2020 from luna. Hopefully you don't have to go through this but if you do it looks like they'll take care of you! I'll do another video when I get the speed controller and plug it back in
