Plant some wild garlic in your pastures and when it grows they will eat it and have garlic breath, lol. I had a calf and I didn't know that there was wild garlic growing in the pastures and he never had a problem with flies

Dusty, my son and daughter-in-law used to live within 10 miles from the Redmond Salt Mine that produces those products. Here in Utah we have a large Bison Herd on Antelope Island located in the Great Salt Lake. They sell great products. Garlic is really good for a LOT of things and with chickens, turkeys, etc.

In south-central Kentucky where our old family farm was when I was young, we had a small herd of about 12 Holstein milk cows my Grandfather milked by hand (and twice that number of Angus beef cattle but they wasn't the problem, at least not at that early time). In the very early spring the wild onions (which were actually wild Garlic but everyone called them Onions), would be the first to come up in large batches. The milk cows, which were free range, would get into the wild Garlic, they loved them, but the milk company did not. For about a month till the wild Garlic played out we could not sell the milk as premium, only as secondary milk products cause it gave the milk a strong Garlic smell and taste.

AHH.... THANKS FOR THE TIP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. MAKES SENSE....ALTHOUGH...I WOULD LIKE THAT MILK MAYBE VERY MUCH SO. I THINK YOU SHOULD MARKET IT PRIVATELY. DON'T WASTE IT. I WOULD LIKE THE TASTE AND ALSO KNOWING THAT HEALTHY GARLIC IS GOING INTO MY BODY...WHICH KEEPS HUMANS HEALTHY!!! IF YOU EVER GO BACK INTO THAT BUSINESS...OR HAVE THE IDEA TO REACH OUT TO OTHER MILK FARMS AND CREATE THE ADD CAMPAIGN FOR IT....THIS COULD BE A SHOE-IN TO PPL HEALTH CONSCIOUS.

@@ShogunHull By Law the milk producers and the processors must remain separate, no way to market it, illegal to sell un-processed milk, and you probably wouldn't like this milk, not a good flavor at all once it's gone through the cow.

Kinfolk had a dairy farm ,and as a kid I worked there, summers. Great uncle Bert had several places salt blocks were put down,I remember him observing that he always had water nearby for the cows to drink. I have not looked through your channel, just came across it. Is there a drinking water source near the lick blocks ?
Unsurprisingly, the milk yield went down when one obstreperous cow wrecked the feed to the main fields. Took a couple of weeks to rework and strengthen the system, and the records he kept showed it going back to normal after repair. Milk yield records not important to your bison, but making sure all the water they want is available, and more than one source as a just in case, will keep them healthy and happy. All the best.

We’ve added garlic powder as a top dress to our Boer goat feed. We ran out before the new batch came in so we never saw a full long term run. We heard you need to run it for awhile to build their system up.
Side note, double check that goat mineral. You said for goats and sheep. Make sure there is no copper.
Also, a good quality good smelling loose mineral should get gobbled up quickly compared to cheap generics

Not sure if you have dusting area for your bison...If not, easy to make...clear an area for vegetation...bring in sand...they will love you for it...Not sure, but you can check... diatomaceous earth added to your dusting area... I worked on a ranch in West Texas years ago as a hunting guide. We had about a hundred head of bison. Everyday you could see them rolling and playing in this dust area that was just nothing but sand. I do believe it kept the Flies and bugs off of them

Raising bison you need to learn to use a welder and cutting torch. It is rather simple. Bison will tear up a lot of stuff as you have shown. The bison ranch that I saw in South Missouri many years ago the hurricane mesh wire fences were stretched and pushed over beyond belief. They raised Beefalo and Bison in separate pastures. I think the bulls fought through the fences. Good luck.

I'm looking at starting a breeding group here in New Zealand. Bison has been introduced into NZ 3 times. Originally Teddy Roosevelt gave NZ a gift of 8 or so in 1908, after that zoos brought them in twice. I was told that you can't have Bison and sheep together as sheep are carriers of a devastating virus MCF for Bison. Does anyone know what is the best distance to keep Bison from sheep
