Well I found the regulator, it's under the right side panel, a bit of a PITA to access but not too bad. Anyway, I just wanted to once again thank Robot and Scooter-West for saving my butt and providing all this DIY servicing info. After a five minute check with my multimeter I was able to determine the stator/rotor assembly was in good working condition and neither was there any issue with the loom. A few clicks later I had the new regulator on order from ScooterWest and three days later it was here! I worked in the motorcycle industry for 30 year and can testify that S-W is the best I've experienced. Great show guys and gals !!!
Thank You....very imformative for a guy trying to resurrect an ET4 after 4 years of not being ridden. Step 1, blow all the dust off, Step 2, New Battery; all charged up. Step 3 Do all this other stuff on this video until I can get it to start....Thank you SO MUCH.
Thanks for this video first time seeing your stuff and subscribed straight away! Realy appreciate the way you explain everything so clear and detailed.
Picked up a 99 et4 that had been stolen and dumped in a lake. Owner retrieved it in the morning so damage minimal. I drained fuel, changed oil etc, cleaned carby, replaced battery. Was running great but now battery dead and keeps dying after being charged? Thanks for the video, I'll start applying your process to find the problem!
Greetings from Holland, your channel is the best. I own a ET4 50cc, and it stops after 5 miles, no power. 5 min later it starts and runs for 5 miles. I checked almost every thing. Did i missed something . Cheers Tom
I know for a fact I have draining somewhere because the new battery (still under warranty) only lasted a week. The common issue it seems with my scooter, an ‘07 lX50 is that even when I jump it it now won’t even start. It would have trouble starting on/off for awhile until it just gave out altogether. I’ve been riding it since I got it used months ago I hear it’s an ignition coil issue. CDI. Cheers!!
Great explanation Robot. I have a later model 150LXie which seems to blow the headlight bulb frequently. Any hints you can include in your next video please
Great video! My motor was replaced but my battery keeps dying. I'm trying to read the yellow wires (following closely instructions at 11:37 in video) but nothing changes on the multimeter. When I then test the yellow wires (per 13:28 in video), the multimeter only reads 1 or 2 volts when revving the engine. Is the regulator the issue or the stator? My new 12v battery measures 17v at the contacts. Thanks, Robot!

Hey guys love your videos on youtube.Unfortunately im not even close to your continent to get my vespa to you!I've been having a problem with my 20' GTS 300 since i got it.It won't start when it gets hot.The pump primes the checks are correct everything seems to be just right, the starter motor spins but it won't start the engine. It never does that when cold, only when hot.Got it to my local dealer and they swapped cams per factory say but that didnt't change the situation and i just got it back.Have you had any case like mine and what was the fix?I'd really appreciate if you can point me to any direction! thanks and keep making great content!

hey! i have a piaggio liberty delivery 80cc! i replaced my voltage regulator because the blinkers blew up! then when i had installed a new one, it blew up again! now im finally going to check with this multimeter! hopefully i can finally get answers! ( the engine cuts out when i use the blinkers, but now it doesnt want to start up at all anymore )
@@oliviergagnon7537 hey man, not really yet, ive recently replaced the starter motor, but the bike loses its charge quickly, before getting the chance to fire up. someone else had given me the idea to wire in another ground in the loom where the voltage-regulator is located. other than that, i may try a new CDI, sometime , because i had one burning out on me. ( i derestricted it ) do you want to stay in contact, see if we can figure this problem out for our bikes, together? :)
furthermore, ive fiddled around with the multimeter, but the battery gives all the correct parameters, 12v when idle, 14'ish volts when i engage the starter, but then it power is lost, but the battery's voltage remains nominal

Voltage regulator most likely!
When I check battery volt when engine off 12.5,
When start engine it goes up to 14v and highest 18v.
What the problem?

Should the charger be replaced if the charger overcharges?
Correct me if im wrong but if it overcharge way to much its a regulator problem. Not stator.
Will those parts fit my 2001 et2?
Thanx
What about over charging?
