Totally agree, the fight with a fish on the rod is a completely different experience. Dip netting is fun but with the goal of filling the freezer with food quickly. We will have some rod and reel time next year to share with everyone.

@@alaskalifestyle I understand, yeah I would not want do that too regularly, I would only do that when I’m craving for salmon and you should already know, there’s more fun, excitements and thrills catching em on fishing rods. I’m the food hunter I catch and cook my catch and would also like to try this once and only once for new experience. I’ve been to Alaska in the early 90s in Dutch harbor and we would go snag silvers. There’s certainly more fun and exciting ways of catching them! No doubt. Dip netting is for Alaska residents, so it’s something we take part in because we do eat a lot of salmon throughout the year. It’s really to fill the freezer. It is a good time hanging out on the beach with your friends though!
