- In this weeks video, we do it a little bit of ocean fishing with our own boat, and we head with the family down to the Kenai river to try our hand at dipnetting from a boat, beach dipnetting and flossing for sockeye salmon.

This is a fabulous video! It was so exciting watching you and your sweet kiddos fishing and getting so many salmon in such beautiful summer weather! I’ve never visited Alaska except via travelogs & pics my grand children send me from Soldotna where they live on the Kenai Peninsula. Helps me feel more like ‘I’m there with you’! Wouldn’t be shocked to see one of my six great-grandchildren in the background one of these times!😉 They just put up 36 jars of brined, smoked & canned salmon-+ also froze several huge fillets last week!

Spectacular. That was the best trip you have taken so far. The children are remarkable. I still see little Chloe sitting on the counter by the stove watching her momma cook when she was so tiny. I enjoyed this so much.
I was the #1 manager in the entire United States 2 years in a row. I won trips to gorgeous places and turned them down. Sometimes the children wanted me with them. Not an easy decision.

BTW, always net the fish head first or the fish can swim out of the net. Also, hang on to the net bag with a finger, then release the bag just as you scoop the fish.

So these videos mean so much to me. I believe it's the Lords way of giving me a peek into something so spectacular and so special and wild and free. The average is about 6 lbs
I hate seeing people fish without wearing sunglasses. I've witnessed several people catch a hook in the eye over my time fishing on the Kenai.
Try to keep the rod tips down when fighting these fish. That way if the hook rips out of the fish it doesn't hit someone in the face.
That was one scary looking fish!

What I would do to have just one of those salmon.
I just wish Montana Haven would make it clear that dip netting is only allowed for Alaskan RESIDENTS. Non-residents are not allowed to participate! It is regulated as a Personal Use fishery by Alaska Fish&Game, for residents only.
