  • Our second dip netting trip of the year takes us to the beautiful little town of Chitina, Alaska. The Copper River is known for its silty turbid water and Copper River Red Salmon. We harvest our annual limit of Sockeye Salmon just after midnight with time to spare and enjoy Alaska's longest days of summer.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

Having been to the Copper River with my son and seen the effort it takes to dip net this area, it is one of the most physically demanding and dangerous places to dip net. We set up not far from where you did. Great respect to you both, glad you timed it right and got your fish.

We've caught many of fish in that spot. We call it the "meat hole". A tip we use for safety, is a rock climbing harness and attach the rope in the rear. Easy, safe, and comfortable. For packing this fish up the cliff, we use a dry bag - backpack, works perfect.

When things are funded by taxpayer money, they no longer have an incentive to be good at what they do... because their funding does not depend on their merit. This channel has 600,000 enthusiastic subscribers because they put in a lot of very hard work to make great content. That's merit -- the OPPOSITE of what government does.

What a tremendously satisfying vid! Packed and ready. First day (and night) out - catch the limit. Beautiful scenery and gorgeous day, Again, good scene/music combo. You're definitely getting the knack for wild harvesting in Alaska.
Maybe next time a way to pull the catch up the hill - in a basket, bucket, something sturdy and stable enough to handle several hauls. Do you have a winch on the Polaris and can you get it close enough?

  • @Michael-rz7ic

Way to just “wing it” and catch your limit dangling from ropes. There’s nothing like fishing through the night in the Land of the Midnight Sun. You two work so well together it is fun just sharing that with everyone else. And all of Alaska that you share! Not too long before Moose season.😎

You kind of need a large dry bag backpack to haul them up - but would be a lot easier to carry each string up. Or, a wooden board attached to a hand wind ratchet system up top that they can be tied to and pulled up.

Or an army duffle bag. Or I thought of a tarp tied to one or two of the ropes to protect the fish as you haul them up over the rocks.

Or air lift with a helicopter, lol. I'm pretty sure they've thought of that. Kinda obvious. Besides, Eric probably needs the exercise... ha, ha.
Arnold Schwarzenegger accent, "It's good for the legs". And not necessarily easier as Eric is using leg muscles, as opposed to using his arms and back to pull the weight up. Not to mention the fact that no matter what, it could get hung up on sumptin'. A tree, root, rock,...mushroom. I'm on team Eric and Arielle. They got it right. Great job.

Maybe get a bin with a rope on each side and pull the fish up that way next time and have a wagon to pull them to your ATV

I love all your content, so much fun to watch the adventures! I hope to visit Alaska to do a lot of fishing, it's quite the contrast from the southern California fishing experience and so cool to watch. Enjoy the salmon! Eric is a BEAST for hauling all those huge fish up that cliff.

Amazing video once again!! Can’t believe how fast you caught your limit. Could you buy a cheap backpack and line it with trash bags to carry the fish up those rocks? That way you could have both hands free to climb. Can’t wait to move up there and experience all these adventures that you two help us to know about. For what it’s worth... it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you’ve never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.
