It's a tough song. The verse riff is hard to sing over, and it spends a lot of time above F3, which is a high note for a baritone like James to sing comfortably.
I remember hearing reload I say around 98 or 99. My mom had the tape cassette in our family van. We listen to that album on way to our family vacations in Florida. Just every song on that album reeks of bad assery. Just the dark and melodic riffs, James showing off every aspect of his vocal ability’s. Lil lars hitting those drums with everything he’s got lol. I haft to say reload is a masterpiece. I like a lot of songs on load, but they couldn’t have broken up the songs anymore Perfectly from load to reload.
This gives me goosebumps. Even if it's not my favorite album. Because this was the first Metallica album I bought. I was no more than 10 years old when my parents drove me to the record store because I desperately wanted a record with Metallica that my neighbor had made me listen to. And thank the gods for that. Metallica has been with me for most of my life and I couldn't be more grateful to be one of your fans.
@@virvum_cypherLoad and Reload are way more palatable if you enjoy hard rock, grunge, or alt rock from the 90s or early 2000s. People don’t like them because they stripped away so many of the remaining thrash elements, but if any other band released those records they’d be held in higher regard. ReLoad is one of favorite Metallica albums for that reason.
I love this era of Metallica because they were being the most creative versions of themselves and really created music that isn’t just 6 mins of mindless head banging and solos
@@Facerip Such a dumb comment isn't it. Metallica mediocred their way through all of the 80s, their true promising debut hit in 91 but their magnum opii finally arrived in 1996. That's what he sounds like.
If you can't see why Metallica is awesome in every era of there career, then you are blind and deaf. I've been a fan for 25 years, or since I was 12, "LOAD" was the first album I got on Christmas back in 96'. After that I went and bought "RIDE THE LIGHTNING" "MASTER OF PUPPETS" "JUSTICE FOR ALL" and "THE BLACK ALBUM ". I then got "RELOAD" and "KILL EM' ALL" Christmas 97' and by having all there albums within a year, I could hear and see how intelligent they were as musicians, always putting a Heavy deep pocket groove in there songs, lyrics that hit you on several different levels, and the sonic brutality of there Thrash Albums is still present in there 90's albums, especially because using Aesthetics have always been a huge part of there writing sonically. They're impeccably good musicians no matter what era you speak of, because they have always been themselves.

I love it too. Hope they bust that thing out now and then in 2023 live. Even though it was a one-off soundtrack deal, it really was catchy AF and has a great vibe.
People always trash this album but 4 if not more of it are main live staples, I wish unforgiven 2 was a staple to , every track is unique and no matter which ones u like most are, they all eventually grow on you , I mean like even memory remains was used as a stripper song in the Sopranos , this album is just too cool imo , people don’t spin it as much as they should
Wow at 23:30 on Carpe Diem Baby Kirk totally wrote a NEW solo for that. WAY better than the album ha!! Although it's a brilliant song, lyrics, arrangements, and all the layered guitars on the record version. I could do without the BABY though. lol. Just Carpe Diem Yeah Yeah or something.
