@@themanzato I'm actually not joking - there are a few spots where the audio doesn't precisely match the video when Dave is onscreen. There's an official live video release of a different show in which the vocals have clearly been overdubbed (I think it's Blood in the Water maybe (?)) so I'm thinking it's something Dave might have done here too...I could be wrong tho.
@@sepehr-9210 if you think he was a bad singer in this concert then you’re an idiot. Also what do I expect from a Metallica fanboy that is butthurt that Dave Mustaine created the sound of Metallica and the genre itself that is called thrash.
I met the two Daves in 1986 when they used to shop at a small grocery store where i worked in my teenage years in the westlake area of hollywood. Elifson was a nice gentle soul, Mustaine was a more serious cat who did not talk very much.
You really need to see Rude Awakening. Damn good lineup and damn good performance. Same lineup as here except they had Al Pitrelli on guitar. You should definitely check out the performance of She Wolf on that album
@Robert Parker si lo he visto. I saw it too, and by the way i hace it, but i like the woodstock performance cause it is to me the best Line up of megadeth
Yup. I dislike a lot of things about Mustaine, but I always respected A LOT how he's always bringing stuff and ideas all the time. And the guy is 60. I'm 35 and I always ave to look for motivation videos and stuff haha.
Dave is always critically staring at his lead guitarists. Part of it is him being the dictator of the band, and the other part probably comes from him having started as a lead guitarist.
Recorded live on my 30th birthday - this is the MEGADETH I remember. I used to be critical of Dave not being to hit the high notes he could back during the time of this concert... but now that I know he's fighting throat cancer all of that takes on new meaning, and I feel bad for ever having had those thoughts. I wish nothing but the very best outcome for Mr. Mustaine.
@@joejones9520 His voice was never the best in the industry, but sometimes it's not about how it sounds, it's about how's the music related with the voice. Just think about Motorhead.
Fuck Dave is probably one of the most technical metal guitarists of our time! He can play and watching this just proves how much better he really is than people give him credit for!
Which is a good thing. Megadeth is at their best when the co-lead guitarist is better than Dave, and I'm willing to bet he believes that, too. He even admitted that Chris Poland was better than him on the Behind the Music special.
When? I watched the Behind the Music special and I don´t remember Dave saying that Chris was better. In fact, if we listen carefully to Peace sells but who´s buying Lp, the best solos in the album were played by Dave, not by Chris. But anyway, Dave it´s more than a lead guitarist, he is a really great rhythm guitarist too (a thrash metal riff master)
One of the best performances I've seen) Megadeth at Woodstock 99 just tore up! Most went to Red Hot Chili Peppers and many were on the riots after that, so they didn't get to see the official closing of Woodstock in 1999. I'm still surprised that people were watching the closing behind the western stage, while everything was burning 1 hour before near the eastern (main) stage. Although the distance was great and many did not know what was going on at all) But the footage on this DVD confirms my words!!! It is especially symbolic on the song Crush 'Em, people sing along and in the distance they are all destroyed by the festival! Scary and exciting performance at the same time, thank you for being able to see this performance)

I first heard Metallica and Slayer on a public radio station KNON after midnight in 1983 when Thrash/Speed Metal was like nothing you had ever heard and every thing you knew about these bands was through an underground record shop. I had Kill Em All and Ride The Lightning in Jr high and went I went to High School met a metal head in shop who introduced me to Megadeth's "Killings My Business and Business is Good" and learning later that Dave was originally with Metallica. It wasn't until Metallica toured with Ozzy in 1986 that the scene in my high school changed and suddenly everyone was a fan of both. In 1999 when Risk was released I worked at Best Buy and they visited the store I worked at and it was my day off. Using my work uniform I was able to slip past the crowd in line waiting and meet the band in person in the back when they arrived. Dave Mustine looked stoned out of his mind but was so cool as we chatted it up for about 5 min got my autographs and then announced to the crowd they were there showing off my signed passes. I remember like it was yesterday and both Megadeth and Metallica are in any playlist I carry around.

Dave: Wtf that voice…?
what was wrong with his voice?
1.) Marty was shit faced on something.
2.) He had a new sound effect he was obsessed with.
Haha yep!! 😂
Exactly what I was thinking as well.
He popped pills 💊
To much carrot juice
Really saw it in his eyes after a tout le monde he was high asf.
The holy wars transition into in my darkest hour Is the coolest sounding part
That was pretty tight. You could see Dave was pretty impressed with it.
yes sir that was great, i will salute you in my next 😇
The solo of Marty at the beggining of a tout le monde was an amazing experience
still listening to this in 2024...
huge respect for dave, singing ang playing guitar at the same time. this sh*t must be exhausting
Dave's voice was in form back then. Sounds great!
+Trent Hogan Yeah!!
+Trent Hogan
Isn't it though? It's such a shame he can't sing like this anymore.
+Nindrade The problem is they now tune down to D standard live because of Mustaine's voice...IMHO that ruins all of the old songs. I am glad I got to see them on the Rust In Peace reunion tour when they were still playing the songs how they were written and meant to be played!
+Nindrade
Meh...They should play the songs live how they were originally written and meant to be played; If they want to use D for newer songs that's fine..Oh well :)
+Trent Hogan well everyone gets older some day :) i listened to some newer concert of Helloween and i must admire he didnt use single chea with sound, his voice was raw as it was, and thou it was great to see and hear them.

I was thinking the same. Great vocal night for Dave
I think some of this has been improved in post-production
@@humanbeing2420 ha ha ha
@@themanzato I'm actually not joking - there are a few spots where the audio doesn't precisely match the video when Dave is onscreen. There's an official live video release of a different show in which the vocals have clearly been overdubbed (I think it's Blood in the Water maybe (?)) so I'm thinking it's something Dave might have done here too...I could be wrong tho.

As a drummer I appreciate a lot the work of Mr Degrasso. His feeling, sense of time gave MG a lovely "alive" sound. Nice and relaxed playing also.
Definitely underrated
9:10 Oh no! That look! That's the sound of the sound guy getting fired.

I think it was Friedman's fault, part of his musical differences with Dave.

I met the two Daves in 1986 when they used to shop at a small grocery store where i worked in my teenage years in the westlake area of hollywood. Elifson was a nice gentle soul, Mustaine was a more serious cat who did not talk very much.

One of the most amazing and remarkable performance by Megadave and Megadeth!!!!
For sure I've never seen them quite this good and the sound is great overall too!

42:02 Daves long stare at Marty, there was a strange vibe throughout this show & there was no megadeth backdrop either.
Dave was watching a fight close to stage. Lower left corner

Dave is always critically staring at his lead guitarists. Part of it is him being the dictator of the band, and the other part probably comes from him having started as a lead guitarist.

Marty was too late, Dave was waiting for him... As Marty didn't play Dave had to improvise
Mustaine.
43:19 Gotta love Dave 😆
Dave's singing is the most peculiar thing.
@Lebo leigh Leigh They're not saying it's a bad thing

he must have some persuasive quality about him to get people to accept it rather than dismiss him as a joke of a singer....which he is.

Fuck Dave is probably one of the most technical metal guitarists of our time! He can play and watching this just proves how much better he really is than people give him credit for!
hell yeah, real talent. born of a generation that didnt have the tech distractions of kids now. sad really.
But as a guitar player he isn't even the best of Megadeth...
Which is a good thing. Megadeth is at their best when the co-lead guitarist is better than Dave, and I'm willing to bet he believes that, too. He even admitted that Chris Poland was better than him on the Behind the Music special.
Seth Peters Of course
Holy Wars has always been my favourite Megadeth song and, Dave just kills it here. 🤘
this whole video summarized: dave looking confused and marty acting weird.

Those drums at the beginning of "Trust" always get me so amped up!

It's amazing to me how even in the 90's Dave's singing was still on point.
he had his voice on point during the 90s-2001 and until like 2004-08 he started to sound different. than he sounded like shit 2010-12 was barely able to sing because of his neck problems and surgery. 2013-16 he started to gain his vocals back but in more raspy and matured tone.
