I vividly remember getting to walk up all those stairs back when my parents and I visited DC back in the seventies. It was so cool to be able to see all of those plaques in the stairwell, and it's kind of sad you don't normally get to do that anymore. Thanks for sharing a great video in a fun format, it really took me back, I am pretty sure I was even younger than your young Mr. Lincoln when I was there.
its actually 2 different colors from back when they first started building it they ran out of money, the monument had sat unfinished for years and wasnt untill they took donations from different countries that donated money to finance they rest of the projects. and they got placqs in thanks to them found inside
Where’s the special tree at? Where’s the Washington absentee that never appeared 20 went in only 19 came out. What happened to POW of the Civil War, does the special tree require a blood sacrifice, why does it swing and bend, is it CONSCIOUS, SENTIENT? BLOODTHIRSTY.
1: its still in place 2: the 20th absentee is virginia's son, everett 3: the POW were killed near the tree to feed the serpent 4: yes, it does. to feed the serpent 5: to transport them to the metastructure (AKA the wonderland) 6: it isnt, its just a corrupt goverment trying to take controll over an exetremeley strong creature, the horned serpent sidenote: george washington is the serpent.
I walked down the Washington Monument when I was 5 (1969). I didn't remember the interior. I remembered extremely sore, rubbery legs. I really wanted to give up 2/3 the way down, but my dad kept saying, but we're almost finished. I appreciate this video, seeing the plaques on the walls.
I actually did walk up and down the Washington Monument in the early 60's. I was probably in 6th grade in school, and it was a school bus trip. Looks so much different now than it did then. Nothing fancy then at all. But I'm glad I did it.
5:54 Lincoln: “oh my gosh lightning, lightning hit it” Dan: *does that dad face thing when they kinda don’t really care and aren’t amazed as you are* 😂😂
Thanks for the great memories. I walked up the stairs during a high school trip to DC in 1965. Wonderful to see those amazing carved stones again. It didn't seem like a long climb at age 18. Now, I'd be finished after 30 feet!!!
I have had the privilege of walking down the stairs at the Washington Monument. They used to allow it regularly, but I was told it is unlikely to happen again. Seeing all those stones is very cool. If I recall correctly, the walk down took about an hour.
Don't stop doing your videos in 3D! That is absolutely awesome! I hope the rest of your videos are in 3D as well! Thank you guys for taking the time to make this happen, nice job and super educational! I am embarrassed to say I didn't even know there was anything inside, I always thought it was just a solid structure!!!
How things change over the years. I lived in Washington DC during the sixties and we were all able to climb the steps. The day that I did that there was a crowd and really couldn't take the to read all the things you were able to. Thanks for the up close your.
I remember going there up the elevator, dropped down, going inside a dimension where very special trees go up & down & dust laying on the ground. & then waking up on the floor of the Washington Monument. It was pain.
This is fabulous! Now that we are all virtual learning, I am teaching about American symbols and looking for books to read and virtual experiences. This is best one I have found so far!
That was my favorite thing about DC long time ago it was the tallest building in the world. Only from 1884 till 1889 until the Eiffel Tower outgrew it but it’s still the tallest building in DC.
This is actually my home! I’ve been in the monument for a field trip before the monument was closed. You know, the monument got stuck by lightning during a recent storm! (It’s September 2021), and it had to be closed for a short period. Feels nice that you guys did a tour haha, stay safe
It was kinda weird constantly adjusting the phone, but I absolutely loved being able to explore the tour on my own!! Please continue to do this vr style!!
Just now seen your video of you and your friend touring through the Washington Monument. I thought it was total cool you were able to do that, and i was so glad I caught/watched it. I love to travel, there's alot to see here in USA.Not sure if I'd been to see it on my own and truly enjoyed seeing through you, learned alot also. Thank you. God bless.
I grew up on DC IN THE 40’s and 50’s. We could freely go up and down the steps just about any time...and we did😊 It was not unusual for us to have a Saturday competition to see who could go up/down the most times in the day! I only won this competition once....7 full round trips in the day.
I was thinking about this last night. I got to go in the Washington monument once and was really bummed out that we were not allowed in the stairs when all those beautiful State stones were there. I then thought, maybe some one did a TH-cam video of it? And here I am 🙂
When I was 12 or 13 years old, we were allowed to take the elevator to the top then walk down the stairs. It was very interesting. Also, when I lived in the area in the late 80s, the best time to go to the monument was after dark. The views were incredible and no lines!
I am a northern Virginia local. I have gone up the Washington monument and took the steps down with a ranger. It was a special thing you had to ask about and only certain rangers would do it if there. It was basically a hidden egg of DC. I have done the steps down and one of the plaques has George Washington on it and his nose is basically missing because it was like good luck to rub his nose and so many people did it just started to crumble. Alaska has a plaque in there and it has all the types of stones found in Alaska in their plaque. Also, the most interesting fun fact about the Washington monument i always tell people is what precious metal is at the top of the monument? the answer is aluminium, yes like aluminum foil, at the time of the built it was hard to get and was considered precious at that time period.
I found a cross at 9:50 :) These are fun but people are probably wondering why I'm looking up at the sky and twisting my head around. Very fun video guys
Thanks Guys, using a wheelchair does make it a bit more of a challenge to go places like the GW Monument!! Not my first vertual tour(did the WH with President Barack Obama- totally cool too!! Will definitely look up your other tours! Again, thanks!👍🏽
Great job with the VR180 camera. Good use of the gimbal too! But I couldn't see what camera you are using. I am guessing, the ZCam K1 Pro? Please let me know! And keep doing the videos in VR180!
