The Order/Kingston group began when Charles W Kingston was excommunicated from the LDS church for preaching polygamy. He moved to Bountiful and began living the United Order with his son Elden Kingston and a group of followers. The community officially declared themselves the Davis County Cooperative Society in 1941.
If anyone is interested in the history of the different groups I highly recommend the Year of Polygamy podcast by Lindsay Hansen Park.

also you have to look at the family tree of each of these families. Lets start at the top The Manifesto during this time the Petersons were jailed and some of them renounced but most of them stayed in. In the 20s Charles Kingston got excommunicated, Jacob Woolley got excommunicated, and Musser and the Allreds were excommunicated these men started the Council of Friends. Charles Kingston was first to leave he founded the Kingston Clan, Jacob Woolley and Joseph Musser were the next to leave Woolley founded Centennial Park and Musser founded the FLDS, and the Allreds they had infighting this lead to the birth of the radical groups the AUB, The Knights of the Holy Order, The Blades, the RLDS, and the Church of the Doctrine with the AUB the worst because they kill people. The AUB is under investigation for murder and ties to the Neo Nazis several of their members are part of this cult.

This is so interesting! Thank you! I left the mainstream Mormons ten years ago, (it was awful with screaming and slapping and me fairly well escaping in a Jeep that I secretly purchased, I had nightmares for YEARS) and have always been so fascinated by my spiritual brothers and sisters, which is how I see all of the LDS variants. The mainstream church was bad enough I assure you, I feel so strongly for those in even more controlling 'churches'. You are so brave and inspiring!! Thank you thank you 💎

Hmmm, odd & sad to hear. For me, the LDS church was my saving grace, I would most likely have been dead at a young age without it. It is all about loving families trying to do what is right, but with care & patience with sinners. Some families have abuse in them, in or out of the LDS church, it is a human thing, not promoted by any Christian church I know of.

    • @stellarosehendrix
      @stellarosehendrix 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@longlifeprinters9 it might be sad, but you know full well it's not odd. The Church is hemorrhaging members- and stories like mine are commonplace.

@@longlifeprinters9Mate, the LDS Church has been haemorrhaging members for years. They church leaders in multiple temples have been accused and/or convicted of child abuse, they also hide domestic violence and sexual assault from police. The commenter’s story is far from uncommon, not a single person leaves LDS without trauma of some kind.

Can you three hookup with an AUB member and discuss their differences? I believe the Sister Wives Brown family are AUB. I tried reading about the differences on Wikipedia but those articles use too much Mormon terminology that is difficult to track for a non-Mormon. This video was fascinating. I love comparative religion, which this addressed as well.

It never fails to amaze me how religious groups become so insular, that they fail to see the history of power broking that is the true reason for splits. And as a result they are all adamant that they are "The One True Church" and the only ones going to the afterlife. You could do a similar video of Christian based religions. Fascinating to listen to you, and Melissa was absolutely correct in that she was right to sit in the middle of representatives of two break off groups as the "overlap". I look forward to part 2.

Woow this is a very interesting conversation as an Evangelical Christian I can’t imagines to live the way Amanda, and Sam lived since basically they were born. I was raised in a Evangelical household and what we are thought is to be free in the lord because he had paid for our sins polygamy is adultery and fornication that is a something totally prohibited in the Bible. It is beyond my imagination how brainwashed these poor people in these groups are by some individuals that seems that the only things they care is power, money, and sex .
God bless you Amanda for all you do I respect other people’s religion I certainly disagree with them theologically but I am glad that people like you are speaking out so with your help others from these groups can drop their blindfolds and find out that there are other ways outside polygamy .

I like all 3 of you. I left Mormonism (mainstream Mormonism) in 2010. A friend in the church kind of knew I wanted to leave, and she helped me with the paperwork to get my name off the records. I had a mental illness, so they were very understanding. And my marriage didn't last more than a year and a half. It's hard to be an LDS woman with a civil divorce. It's easier on the men because of polygamy. I just so easily walked away and was thankful my parents never joined.

Thanks so much for explaining some of the leadership & how they think they got authority to do this whole society thing. That is probably the biggest question to find a true answer to. Though there are a lot of good teachings mixed in with a lot of bad ones too, "Ye shall know them by their fruit", I see a lot of rotten fruit there; not to disparage people for believing what they grew up being taught but, the ideals & decisions, they feel wrong.

    Very interesting .. ..
My best childhood friend was Mormon.. I thought it was a club '
And always thought it was weird that they had ( can't remember what they called them , buildings right next to public schools for kids to worship . .. very ingrained .. this was the late 60's early 70's ..

It's interesting to hear your stories. Melissa, I never really had a "shelf crash", I just didn't want to practice Mormonism anymore. My mom is a non-practicing Catholic.

Could you see if Caroline Jessop would be able to come on? She was an early pioneer in her exit and many were inspired to leave because of her bravery, super brave woman there!

Question: did either of the groups vote? Like was voting encouraged/discouraged/not talked about/only certain people could or was the group just a very powerful voting block? What was the situation like? I am so curious!
I’m happy to hear y’all might continue to collab! I love learning about the seemingly endless variations of organized religion/high control groups.

I remember in some interviews with young FLDS girls they said they didn’t even know who the president was let alone vote. Is this common? I would think that voting in local elections would be important for protecting the group?

We were all one religion until polygamy was banned. I’m related to all the Barlows in the FLDS.
