Love your videos and admire your strength. I'm a descendent from early lds immigrants can't remember the handcart group off the top of my head but, the history of every branch and offshoot is interesting. When I was younger I had asked lots of questions that never had straight answers so I enjoy following your and the other ladies journeys and learning more history that to me was a mystery for a long time.
I just read the book by Anne Lebaron & now I'm reading the book by Ruthie Lebaron. Ervil Took followers with him when Joel went somewhere. It's very scrazy how most of the polygamy groups all are connected especially with the Blood atonement. It's very sad how Ervil destroyed his whole family. The 4'0clock murders were crazy too. Luckily most of the people now are safe now after all those years, but still they aren't sure. The Lebaron group is so weird. Great video again👏🏻. It would be interesting if you're able to interview someone from that group & compare the things. Have a great Halloween. Stay safe & keep doing what you do👏🏻
There is a Vice video on the LaBaron group a couple of years ago. It talks about their fight with the cartels, but it still left a lot of questions of how involved they were with stuff from my POV. They were also the group that had women and kids ambushed and killed in Mexico a few years ago.
I have always wondered how they thought things were going to go down when polygamy suddenly “ended”? What were all those women supposed to do? Did the powers that be tell men to pick one wife and let the others go? I doubt it. There had to be an “understanding” that those in plural marriages would remain in those marriages.
Wild cult life, really glad you were able to leave, sounds like you were born into some wild stuff, thank god you are no longer apart of that crap 🙏💯✌️❤️
One of my favorite graphic novel artists is Mike Allred (Madman, The Atomics... among others). I know he is Mormon (He once put out an illustrated version of the Book of Mormon). To my knowledge, he doesn't partake in polygamy but, because of his last name, I wonder if he has a family connection to the Allred group?
Even the flds thought that the Labaron group was on another level of “culty” the stories my parents and grandparents told about their encounters with the Labarons were crazy
was the "insider" on the show real? like actually a random person trying to help you guys or was that all just made up for a storyline in the show? I've ALWAYS wondered about that and am so so curious who the insider really was and if they even really were an insider! lol thanks!... love xo
Like Noci (skilltes037) said, Ramona is a step daughter, not a wife. After her parents converted, her mom moved to Mexico while her dad was selling assets in Utah. By the time her dad moved down there Ervil had already taken his wife as his own. Her brother, Eddie was carrying out hits and was later killed in 1988 in the 4 o clock murders. 4 people were killed that day. Anyone interested in this story should watch the movie "Prophet of Evil."
blood atonement is not in the Bible it’s in one of the Mormon scriptures. Ervil started out helping Joel with the church of the firstborn of the fullness of time Then he decided to slowly steal members away and start his own group until he got to the point where he had his brother murdered hoping that Joels followers would go to his church if Joel were dead
It's doubtful that anybody who practiced polygamy abandoned their wives and still remained in the LDS church after 1890. Leaders in the church had multiple wives and they continued to send members to Mexico for their plural marriages on the down low until around 1904 with the Second Manifesto.
The 1890 law was no new polygamist marriages would be preformed. Families still remained intact though some left to continue to increase their families through polygamist marriage
Hi Amanda Rae and I absolutely love the fact you spell it differently than"normal"💜💜💜 from Oklahoma and I hope you aren't offended by the 💜 if you are please let me know and I'll try to stop
The Mormon church stopped their policy of polygamy because they had to. Utah was refused statehood until polygamy was abolished. I believe, at this point if you had a polygamy family, you just continued living but did not marry any more wives. Families who chose to continue living in polygamy relocated farther away from SLC. Although some just kept right on going and kept it hidden.
It’s a “common” name in the world of the flds. People often name their kids after prophets and rulon Jeffs is considered to be the last “good” prophet. weird stuff happened while he was in charge but mostly that was while his health was failing and Warren Jeff’s was usurping his power.
Yes, but I’m assuming they all stemmed from the same group far back before all the splinter groups. There was probably a church leader of some sort from way back when, or maybe even a common ancestor, named rulon. I have personally never heard the name outside of polygamist groups
Love your videos! You are adorable!!! Have you heard of the Chad Daybell & Lori Daybell case? They are LDS and had a little doomsday cult going on. Unfortunately they came to be involved in the deaths of their spouses (allegedly) and the murders of Lori's 2 children. It's a very sad case. I was thinking you would have a great take on the situation and maybe their psychology considering your experience with brainwashing & cults. It is an on going case and there are so many levels and people involved, I would like to hear what you think and perhaps you could help us understand how these beliefs could develop and spread so quickly. Anyway have a great day! Hope to see you in another video soon!😉

Blood atonement was taught by Joseph Smith. It is not biblical the concept is some sins are so agreegous (sic) the only way to atone for them is the spilling of the offenders blood ( very anti-biblical, the Bible teaches in no uncertain terms the blood of Christ covers ALL sins for all who accept Christ as there Lord and Savior) one of the early LDS church leaders said if a man's wife committed adultery the man would be perfectly justified because in taking her life he secured her salvation. Also in blood atonement you have to kill them in such a manner as to actually spill the blood. To the best of my knowledge some groups in Utah still practice it. My uncle married a girl who left polygamy and when she went back to get her children she had to take a sheriff with her because when she left they put out a hit on her under blood atonement that would have been in the late 70's or early 80's.
What if they killed someone who had enough previous unatoned sins on their conscience that they still wouldn't go to heaven? Didn't think of that, did they? 😆
The LDS continued to have multiple wives they just didn’t take on anymore and there were no more multiple marriage. But the people that were living polygamy continue to live it until the passing of the family members. They didn’t just dump them, 😂

I highly recommend reading The Sound of Gravel by Ruth Wariner (a former LeBaron member) as well as The Polygamist's Daughter by Anna LeBaron
Both are great books!
Don’t forget Irene Spencer

Correct. They were told not to take on any more wives but everything as is was left alone
