I have almost half of what you talked about. Perfect reading for anyone who loves perfumes and wants to know more. What I'm reading right now is Kyphi: The Sacred Scent by Karl Vermillion. It is about compound incense that was used in Ancient Egypt. Might be interesting to check. The Emperor of Scent: A True Story of Perfume and Obsession by Chandler Burr - this one is so catchy... a real page turner. You just read it in one go.
Wooow that Nez Magazine looks very interesting, I just have the Roja Book, I want to order a Backup copy, I don't know what for I just want it! Thanks Sebastian!
A book like those in the end with the graph of fragances for a given note would be great for Vetiver, that would possibly be one of my first fragrance book choices. Probably also the very first book shown. Dont have any fragrance-related book yet, but I love books! Have a few fragrances already, yet with so much on the internet havent even thought about getting a book about them. Thanks for sharing!
Will you be doing CLEAN RESERVE COLLECTION in any near future? I'm really interested in Sel Santal Smoked Vetiver Sueded Oud Terra Woods Skin Solar Bloom Rain
Cool, it is perfect timing. I do have links to the books and magazines I discuss in the info box if you wanted to pick any up! Appreciate you stopping by! :)
Yes, I own most of those! I just got the Michael Edwards 33rd edition and I have a signed copy of the Roja Dove and the Scent and Subversion books. In Nez, I am missing 6 and 7 and I don't own any single note, notebooks, however I am interested in getting one now!
I have quite a few perfume books, but only two from your list: Perfumes the Guide and The Essence of Perfume, I love them both. The notebooks look great! Some books that I really enjoyed were The Perfect Scent by Chandler Burr, and Jean-Claude Ellena's Perfume: The Alchemy of Scent, and The Diary of a Nose. Thanks for sharing the list.
Good video. There are so many fragrance reviews online, so I like when you make a video on other topics such as perfume history, chemistry, notes, and even these book reviews. I definitely learn more about fragrances on this channel than any other channel out there.
I am thrilled that you provided this information. Question. Where does one sell fragrances ... some blind buys that I made fb and were quite expensive that I prefer not to have in my collection.
Thanks for the great recommendations, Sebastian. Developing a sophisticated / educated nose requires this kind of quality reading material. They help us appreciate the finer subtleties of fragrances. Besides quality reading material, do you have a perfumer's organ? Can you recommend a good one?
Just received my copy of Neil Chapman's Perfume in search of your signature scent. Thank you for doing a review of these books. My husband didnt think I could hold a book ( I am bed bound unable to move much) but I proved him wrong. Your channel brings me much joy, thank you again for all you do.
Great video! I just recently got into perfume books: I have Perfumes The Guide and like to use it as a reference, I recently finished Perfume The Story of a Murderer and also have Chandler Burr's The Perfect Scent and The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro which I have to read. I will definitely get Neil Chapman's book soon per your recommendation.
Thanks a ton for your email reply on books about fragrances that I sent you. Funny thing is I actually already purchased Neil Chapman’s book and can’t wait to get my hands on some more. Have a great weekend!
Excellent video! Your timing is insane as I have just started reading the Turin/Sanchez book and so far it’s hilarious! I have the French edition of the Michael Edwards book but mine is old and ends with Angel. It’s a wonderful reference book. Enjoying all your videos so much. Thanks for the great content. 🙌
Sebastian you are human fragrance book😁 you are like a fragrance Encyclopedia🤔🤗🤗... I have much respect for your fragrance knowledge and enthusiasm that you share with fragheads like myself🤔🤗🤗
Looking for a book that describes the different notes used and why and what they smell like and add to the fragrance. Which would you recommend for something like that?
Cool, it is perfect timing. I do have links to the books and magazines I discuss in the info box if you wanted to pick any up! Appreciate you stopping by! :)
Hello. I know a little about the perfumes. I request you to introduce me a book that divides perfumes from big categories to smallest categories that finally I can choose my favorite perfume from all perfumes in the market and introduced me one or more brand and perfumes, acoording to my favorate notes. It will help me a lot if you guide me in this matter.
i was thing of buying 'Perfumes : The A-Z Guide' by Luca Turin & Tania Sanchez . it is a 600pages book and i believe is a different one of this in the video ...do you know anything about it?
@@ThePerfumeGuy means I want to learn 1st basic of perfume then medium level than top level of perfume so I there any book from basic to top level so tell ✨
Most of the books there are about either new perfumes launching, older classics that were some of the iconics or ingredients and notes. I suggest watch the video to understand what the books are all about and see if you can find the books to buy! :)
In Perfumes-The Guide, Luca Turin has gone out of his way to target Roja Dove in a vindictive way. There are more Roja listings than most other houses and many of the reviews are 1-2 star scathing one-liners- very unnecessary.
Yes...narcissus can be quite animalic..esp the white paperwhite narcissus..As a floral designer i know the flower growing/cut reminds me of what i used to call "horse sweat"...lol..and its very powerful
you prob can get bulbs now to place in water and stones.they bloom pretty quickly..the scent is very strong and to me anamalic..if you get em make sure they are Paperwhite narcissus..highly fragrant.
The thing about perfume books is that they quite expensive compared to books on other topics. I don't think that the value that you get from a perfume book is mirrored in the price. It's sad that it is as it is.
Isn't that the same with everything though? Not just perfume books? Because there's some people who think they don't get any value out of wearing perfumes? Or some people would just rather go and eat at McDonald's rather than go to a 4/5 star restaurant. I think it depends on the person! ;)
@@ThePerfumeGuy Of course, that is very true! Although the value of something is not strictly a personal thing, it is not only a projection made by the subjet onto the object. In this particular case, the price of perfume books is, in my opinion, inflated so as to maintain the labeling of perfume as a luxury item. The same happens with high fashion books. Especially the ones that focus on a particular brand.

Thank you so much.
I'm really into reading about perfumes, so I have actually read 3 of these from my local library.
Amazing that these kinds of books exist!
I'm spending my time blending a gourmand! This is my first perfume I've made that I love!
Good luck!
Cool!
