(I'm proud I don't take after my mother who would've left the young apricot tree's broken branch to dry and die.) And here's to the Kew garden and your cool, simple, helpful video.

    If you want an actual rose plant you should strip the stem of all its leaves so that it spends its time on growing roots. Also, growth hormone increases the chance of rooting.

    • @Kewlausgirl
      @Kewlausgirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Thanks for that!! I just did that.
      I'm also following the advice above but do you know if these need to be in sunlight at all? It's just starting winter here in Australia, but I live in Queensland so it'll be like 6 degrees at night - 20 degrees during the day to start with.
      So ... I guess coz it's not our hot summer sun it's ok to get them in direct sunlight but then.. Maybe once it's starting to get hotter by October, I should get it out of the direct sunlight?
      Any advice would be great!
      And I'm guessing I don't water the plants when I have the bottles on top, it just keeps it night and humid in there right??
      I only put the bottle on one of the stems as the second one was a little bit too green and soft. I'm wondering if I should have cut it up a little bit more from were it had been in the water of the bouquet to keep it alive. I did cut it a bit more up the stem but probably should have got to s dryer section. Anyhow I'll see how that goes!!

      Just like watering plants, you do water the plant. You are creating a greenhouse affect placing the bottles over the stem giving moisture and perfect temperature to grow. The small hole in the top is to allow a little air to vent.

    • @Echoleana
      @Echoleana ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes you want a hole in the lid. You don't want the pot to dry out all the way, but you don't want to over water as it will rot the cuttings.

      Good question. I've got 4 healthy looking plants just like the video, but I'm not sure when to separate them. I don't want the roots to tangle up.
