Nice one Stuart!
Cheers Jon, great as usual. Thanks for always giving full info
That was a busy match. Well done for the section win(default) but they all count.
Thanks for this one - don't get to go fishing a lot - but really enjoy watching these vids keep em coming and tight lines to you.
Cheers John, great video.
A very strong top three on that day, so getting a section win was a job well done.

I love your videos Jon. You have a real knack for this. Though simple, and a bit low tech, your presentation is perfect. If all match fishing tv was presented like this, it would be a lot more watchable. You give a really good feeling, of what it's like to be in a match.
Last week, was the week from hell for me. I found out my mum had terminal cancer, and I can't get out fishing at the moment due to injury. So, I sat through all your videos and it distracted me. You helped get me through. Cheers mate :)
Glad you enjoy my films Brian. I hope they give you some pleasure and small distraction from any pain and suffering you may be going through. Be strong for your family.
well done john, great footage and great info aswel.
Absolutely great video Jon very enjoyable

Top stuff John , enjoyed that
been following the vids for some tips, really good channel. What are the indicators on the top 2, the white marks used for ? Depth indicators?
Glad you like them! Yes depth markers at 6in intervals.
Hi Jon I’ve learnt a lot from your channel M issue is I carnt afford loads of top kits can you recommend best place to fish with three top kits I know time of year and venue are the major factors but a general thinking would be helpful thanks Neil
I think most venues you can tackle with just a few top kits, but I'd elasticate them with light gear in winter and stronger gear in summer. Soft elastic and a side puller is very versatile. Place I am fishing at the moment don't require many rigs at all. It's only summertime when I start needing shallow rigs and margins rigs and jigger rigs etc etc, but you can still simplify things and be much more single minded if you are on a budget.
Thanks for posting Jon.What time of the year was this please.
July 2017
Jon Arthur Angling thank you Jon...I have my first Match Fishing Subscribers Match there in early Sept, so the time of year helps lol
Hi Jon,great vid as usual,I notice your top kits are painted,do you think this helps, and also what are the markings for down top kits, cheers
Depth markers. All explained here: th-cam.com/video/DhtN-YdHVbI/w-d-xo.html
Hi Jon, do you do anything to the tip of the margin float after you've chopped? presuming they are hollow?
Yes I just plug it with a snug fitting spare solid bristle.
Enjoyed that: your casters looked A1 Jon. Don't they float if you don't submerge in water?
Thanks I had them from Lanes fresh in the morning. They will darken up a bit but shouldn't turn to floaters by the time Ive fed them unless it's red hot. I sometimes cover them up but letting them dry a little helps them go darker and hopefully sink a little slower, which is important for shallow fishing.
Whats your best elastic set up for Tunnel Jon? and can Silvers & F1's can go in the same net? (thanks in advance)
Depends on time of year and what you’re fishing, but a hollow 6-10 grade for bagging and 5-8 for shallow work through a shorter kit work well in summer. I use much lighter solid elastics in winter. No separate silvers net at this venue.
brill thanks for the quick response.
Quick question... if you reach the keepnet weight limit in all you nets but still a fair amount of the match to go what do you do??
The quick answer is to get another net, either from behind you or ask the fishery for another one. At Tunnel, if you only put one net in the maximum you're allowed is 50lb. If you put two nets in you can have up to 100lb in each net. If you catch over 200lb you need to have a 3rd net in. Every venue's different, so always check and bring enough nets!
How much caster and maggot would you take for an 6 hour match at tunnel in september?
Keep an eye on how it's fishing but I think 5 pts of either would be more than ample
Jon Arthur Angling thanks.
How the heck do you band a caster without it squashing, nice vid , thanks
Hair rig a medium sized latex pellet band and they'll pop in nicely. Often catch more than one fish on each of them as the fish struggle to crush them with their pharyngeal teeth when it's hair rigged. It was better to hook it like a maggot on the day however.
Jon you still fishing for wikford
I’ve never fished for Wickford!?
How was the crystal 0.2 margin float modified??
I just chopped the tip and stem in half Chris
Could you tell me your E-mail?
Sorry no, but comment on here if you want to chat
