    Hi Jon this video is one of the best. A method that anyone can learn to master and on a windy day can beat the long pole. Cheap(ish) tackle that most can afford used to great effect. Great simple clear explanation of what you were trying to achieve. Just wish I was out there instead of stuck in bed! Bill

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly don't think I'm the greatest of casters, although not too bad on this session. Most of the top anglers I fish alongside are better at casting than me. However, I am much more confident and less self conscious about casting than what I was 5, 10 or 20 years ago and confidence plays a HUGE part in casting ability.

    Top vid again Jon, going back to Mohmar comment, my Dad fishes at Heronbrook and people say hes a master at this style of fishing, on its day its quicker than the pole, he uses an 8ft rod and preston 15g elasticated feeders,now obselete, 2 inch braided hooklegnth, all within the rules there, land it on a sixpence and it takes some beating on its day, if u have any 15g preston elasticated feeders for sale then let me know cus now and again he loses one, tale care Jon and keep em coming pal.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ezerdan. I think a little 'thod rod' at Heronbrook makes lots of sense, especially on the deeper lakes like Canal as it will help to cut out the foul-hookers you get fishing across in 4-5ft of water. When it's working 100% its such a fast attacking style of fishing.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wet them then drain the water off after 30 seconds then stand for 30 mins. You can then play with the micros a bit more if they need more water. If you want them spongier and less sticky, do them the night before.

    • @lukegadd4988

    Hi Jon great video and very informative, I have a horizon 4000 reel and I struggle to keep the line on the clip, the other day I probably casted 15 times and then the 16th it came off the clip and I'm on the island. I don't really want to wrap right round the clip incase I have to unclip, any advice?

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you know what the answer is, as to stop it accidentally pinging off the clip you need to wrap it around or try popping it on the clip from the opposite way. I don't think there's another solution.

  • @milenamaric9897
    @milenamaric9897 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Greetings Jon. Another great, formative video. I have one question though. I too recently bought the same feeders (albeit in several sizes) but I’m unsure the best method to tie off the main line after passing through the feeder as there’s nothing to clip onto, unlike the hook length. Any advice much appreciated.

    • @sillybait1329
      @sillybait1329 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Milena Maric tie a feeder bead /quick change bead onto the end of your main line, acts as a line stop and makes it easier to attach the hooklink

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hole in the bead is very tiny but you should be able to thread it through that and then simply tie it off in a loop.

  • @JeffOrtega33
    @JeffOrtega33 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video Mr Arthur thanks for sharing. Have you ever opted for this method in a match?

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I have lots of times and a short chuck is vital on some pegs where there is a pole limit, eg White Acres there are quite a few lakes with islands that are 17-18m away and a 16m pole limit. Here at Tunnel Barn some matches there is a 16m limit too, with pegs on High Pool, Extension and House that are just a bit wider than 16m. Heronbrook on Island Pool also springs to mind. Plus we have lots of feeder only matches these days so it's a key tactic. On the Tunnel Barn Veterans circuit in particular a number of anglers are winning regularly with good weights just feeder fishing, even on the 13-14m wide pegs. Certainly beats holding a pole at times.

    Great informative video Jon! Love it.
    I'm glad you do that counting down thing too. I do it too, I thought it was just me going crazy! 😁😁
    Been doing some of this type of fishing recently cos broke my section 7 on pole😬😔🤦🏼
    I was catching yesterday on those same washters (but the 7mm) 😉
    Couple of questions please Jon, if you don't mind? 🤔
    Can you use those bayenette things with hard pellets?
    If I'm fishing a bomb tight to an island or bank, does a shorter than the usual 12 inch hooklength work (4 or 6 inch)? Just so I don't catch the island as much. Big fish venue, so can't clip up😬😬.
    When would you use a flat method feeder over a hybrid/dura feeder?
    I'm finding flat method been working better where I've been fishing. Why would this be? 🤔 🤔
    Keep the videos coming Jon. 👍🏽 .

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Andy, good to see you on TV the other day.
      Bayonets and spikes are only for boilies and wafters, bands for pellets .
      Some people prefer shorter hooklengths, so by all means try it. I'd rather just fish a feeder tight across unless it was bomb and bread/popups.
      I think a method feeder introduces more bait and I actually prefer them for a lot of open water work, but each to their own. Try both if you use a good interchangeable system.
      All the best! (PS. ping me direct any more questions rather than via YT)

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not something I've done a lot of to be honest, but it may have worked. I like a little trap of bait and a hook bait right in the middle, so the feeder is the optimum way to fool them. Although if I had a longer session I may have tried loose feeding over the top.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It works surprisingly well on lots of snake lake matches, although I personally try to fish the pole as I believe that's my strength... but try telling that to Dave Chapman who wins half the veterans matches at Tunnel Barn on the feeder. There are anglers on similar venues like Heronbrook that are equally deadly. The last time I fished Canal Pool at White Acres it was won by a feeder angler too. It's a nice skill to have in the armoury, even if the session wasn't in match conditions. I actually think I would have caught a lot more if I'd fished normal match hours, but this vid was more about the method and how simple and enjoyable it is than anything else.
