WOW! What a show, thanks for the legwork covering that massive Chengdu show. The choice is just mesmerising & the high standard of brands there is mind-blowing. Chinese automakers have really taken the BEV world by storm with their technology, software & design. Legacy auto should be really worried & I very much doubt we'll see them as they are today by the end of the decade. Great show & thanks for showing us around.
Thanks again Mark for your time and effort to make the video!👍🏼♥️ And I totally agree about the loud music ! Its to much😅hope your channel can grow even more man!
@@InsideChinaAuto I have a model/talent agency here in China. I basically manage some of the models/talents the brands use in their booths. I do daily drive a Nio ES8, mostly because a battery swapping station is located in the parking area of my office building.
Watching you, and other foreign youtubers reviewing chinese cars, made me realize how much money i wasted on my 3 cars for nothing special really... soon i will sell my headache wrangler and get BYD SONG L DUAL MOTOR then next year hopefully add BYD Denza z9 gt. Screw all these Japanese, European and US trash and extra price overrated vehicles.
If you want the leading cars now, Chinese are generally the way to go. Watching that Z9 crab walk around the car park and the rear wheels turning in opposite directions just feels like science fiction.
@@InsideChinaAuto shows how much chinese kept quiet and let others believe how good they are until china went like: nah we won't stay quiet anymore". Now trust me the rest of the world would try to create fake news on china and wish to start wars maybe just to not let them grow bigger and bigger. I rather be under china than US or Britain... im from UAE and this year i started seeing many chinese cars and everyone is hyping them. No complains at all!!!
If I was a local citizen I think I would have choice embarrassment. So many brands... The quality is seriously going up year after year, specs and design. They are working hard & it's clear. I see that they are embracing the flashy/ quirky colors too (everyone seems to be fed up with white, grey and black). We are in a worldwide recession & that means people are either looking for bargains or if they treat themselves they want all the things in their car. I almost feel bad for 🇩🇪 legacy auto (but they were warned years ago & frankly, their offering is underwhelming & dated). Thanks for covering the event for us 🇪🇺 .
To be honest, German legacy auto makers are way better already, comparing to the Americans and the Japanese. Germans are not in denial, and they have been actively trying to deepen the collaboration with Chinese EV companies and battery manufacturers. The tariff imposed by EU is not their idea and they have always been against it. (Sure the decision was announced by Ursula van derlein (forgot how to spell her last name but really don’t care) who is German but she works for American interests). Americans and Japanese though, are still in denial. If there will be any legacy auto makers that is able to survive, I think it will be Germans.
There is no need for feeling bad for german brands. Its a myth that chinese cars are better. They dont have faster charging speed no longer ranger often very bad software very bad driving assistant and often bad efficiency. Yeah they scale very good and fast but they dont have better electric motors or inverters or battery management systems. Most of the good chinese brands are also been supplied by german tier 1 suppliers.
@@oxidalpha6350 That's interesting, because literally any Chinese car, even BYD, has clearly better software than any Mercedes, the Zeekr 007 charges 10-80% in 10.5 minutes (I challenge any European car to equal that), range is the same, and their ADAS generally kicks lumps out of the European stuff that has no concept of how to drive on Chinese roads, oh and haven't Mercedes' EQs been catching fire all over the place? So much for their better battery management systems.
@@InsideChinaAuto every chinese car in germany has very bad software. Byd are really bad at this point for sone reason. They fire catched benz you can read online that it wasnt mercedes fault. Yeah there are some fast charging chinese cars also xpeng g9 for example but with bad efficieny. And no byd has not better software than mercedes. We see in germany that none of the chinese cars reach their given range. The german cars always the closest to the given numbers.
New Suscriber here!, Keep it going with this kind of videos of you visiting and doing full tours of auto shows! Nowadays chinese market is very interesting and technologically advanced than previous years
Zeekr's new SUV and Mix MVP looks great. Chery Fulwin is promising. Woyah with 900 km CLTC range is also great. Very competitive market and some brands will focus on exports rather than being succesful at their home court. And thank you for a 2 and a half hour video! Much appreciated.
Oh man! I cannot thank you enough. You must’ve been exhausted by the end of that. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole video. Genuinely, you deserve a round of applause for that and for the editing you must’ve had to do afterwards. I should imagine your arm was aching from just holding up the camera. I absolutely love your channel, it’s one of my go to TH-cam channels that I tell everybody about. I cannot praise you enough. Well done, buddy.
Such kind praise mate. Thanks a lot. Really glad you enjoyed it. I enjoy making these videos, I'm like a pig in sh*t at a car show so even though it's hot and humid it's all good.
Hi Mark just 30 minutes into your amazing walkthrough of this huge motor show , what's immediately obvious is the high level of quality of these Chinese brands, and I know I keep saying it but you're so lucky how much I love to be there with you . I got another 2 hours to watch so I'll talk back later John in Melbourne 🙏
Indeed. There's a lot of talent on show now. You'd never have believed it possible ten years ago looking at Chinese cars then. It's astonishing to me too.
Thank you for the effort! I subscribed. Chinese car brands are the future. I really like the Denza Z9 GT and the Avatr 07, hope they come to the Netherlands.
Great effort Mark, much appreciated. My worry is if even half of those come to the UK people will be so overwhelmed they may just stick to what they know. Although on the other hand the non-Chinese car makers much be bricking it as like it or not the good times are over for all of them. I've followed the motor industry for years and know just how much they have been ripping us off so I don't have much sympathy. And I don't think people in the west know the impact it will be to them given the impact on many of these brands that have been around for decades. Looking forward to your new website. As you asked what I'd like to see, well a reference to every Chinese make and model, but appreciate this would be a monumental task so probably not viable. Also looking forward to your podcast. I'd love to hear your thoughts on why Chinese brands keep bringing out new sub-brands before they've established their current ones and often appear to compete with each other. Seems crazy.
Thanks for the comment Jason. Chinese car integration into Western culture will take some time for sure, many of these cars have features for things we don't really do in Europe, or at least not in the same way, but it'll shift over time I think. Will definitely look at that feature for the website. I've been looking at something like that and it is a lot of work but once you've got the base in place it should be a bit simpler after that. For the podcast, I'm sure we'll cover a lot of content over time so appreciate the ideas and will see what we can get in. It's a new thing for us so it should improve over time as we get into it.
Thanks! Watched it in full. (half of it while doing workout). So many brands and models(cars and humans..) . It is almost impossible to keep track. But one takeaway. Many complains about why BMW, Audi and other puts big grills on EV when not needed. Looking at the show i realize why it is needed. How many large sedans called something with 7 did you present in this video? I lost track of it. If you took all of them, removed the badges and then asked people to name them correctly it would almost be an impossible task. So difficult for the new brands to find their identity when everything looks the same. Thanks again. Looking forward to the next video on the channel.
Indeed, there are way too many 7s in the Chinese car space. Grilles absolutely help with identity, so these guys need to work out how to keep the best of both worlds.
Im glad China Auto Show feels sooo alive....as a Malaysian, our Auto show here feel sooo... Bland, dull, dead and soulless.....damn im glad u enjoy..... Next year I planning to go here...... To see sooo many many unique cars because Malaysia...... Well not much unique cars here...... PROTON and Perodua are soulless Car brands 🙃👎....... Chinese car brands.... Yeah..... They are starting to bring the heat 😁👍
32:08 Remember when we talked about how BYD is taking over the world now Xpeng made sub 18k $ midsize sedan that have lot of tech inside (i'm not trying to knock on BYD btw). The chinese car market moves so fast 4-5 months feel like distant past.
Thanks Mark for these walkthroughs really appreciate them, so fascinating to see what's available and what people get drawn too. Still hoping the BYD Seagull makes it to the UK 🙏
Enormous effort, hugely appreciated! 👍👏 You cannot find anything like this in the Western media... For obvious reasons! Keep up with the excellent work, man! And yes... Get your hands on that NETA S wagon/shooting brake ASAP 😉
Glad you enjoyed it. I think this full show walkaround is fairly unique on TH-cam and I enjoy doing it. Am already working on the Neta S Wagon, just need to find time to get it.
Firstly mate...well done and thank you so much for this. We'd all the be lost without you- especially us Aussies. In a rare situation (by having no local car manufacturing to speak off) we are somehow in the firing line for a lot of the stuff coming out of China and this video is a great way to get an overview of where things are heading. The lack interest in legacy brands is definitely a snowball effect we will see here. Question for you - from everything you are seeing- it looks like most of these manufacturers have abandoned physical controls for majority of the functions- we're looking at a very screen heavy future?
Xiaomi S7 has physical buttons option (additional feature) and the new zeekr 7x has buttons for basic functions (the car is designed to suit all tastes).
I think it's just bad advertising. State owned brands are not great at marketing generally. They're good looking cars, decent systems, but also thinking about it, they're rarely in shopping centres where many of the other brands sell, so if they're not in people's faces, people don't know about them.
Yes continuing on your amazing show about an hour into it now, hard to keep up with this all Mark , so many brands here , very brief look at Nio I really love this brand I was hoping you'd show me around the Et5 more,, so much beautiful eye candy to, my goodness I don't know which way to look.. So you're going to do a live stream podcast your announcing as well , it would be good to talk to you via TH-cam or something. John
I've got a review of the ET5 if that helps but I suspect you've already seen it. Very good looking car, though to be honest if you've seen one Nio you've kind of seen them all, they're much of a muchness in design terms. To begin with the podcast will be prerecorded I think but if the option comes to do live you'll certainly know about it.
Well that was a long watch, which I thoroughly enjoyed, wished show me some of the Chinese dancing in the models though hahahah. Just as beautiful as the cars. Thank you for the effort there Mark that was really something else. I really got to try and catch one of these major shows and meet you there one day , you never know. John in Melbourne
Thank you for your huge effort. Living in Cyprus, I always look forward to hear news about the models, available as RHD. Your channel has helped a lot.
@@InsideChinaAuto Actually, I am from North Cyprus and our company has started importing Beijing and Neta vehicles. We are not in the EU, therefore no homologation requirements.
@@bengubeyar Oh nice. Do you need any other models there? And are there any restrictions from Turkey? I think they put new tariffs on in Turkey the country recently.
@@InsideChinaAuto North Cyprus and Turkey are not in customs union. Yes, they introduced new taxes for Chinese cars in Turkey, but this doesn’t affect us. And, yes, we are always looking for new models from China, both for passenger cars and commercial vehicles as long as they are RHD. Even Euro 3 vehicles can be imported and registered.
Will watch all of this in stages. Thanks so much for doing it. The Chinese Brands Counter is a great addition. It would be great to see a video of an overview of all the Chinese Brands with a small piece about each and where they sit in the market.
I'll look to do that next time. We're still missing a few here too because some don't do auto shows and some just might not be able to afford to come right now. I'm thinking Bestune, Wuling, Baojun, off the top of my head.
@@InsideChinaAuto Just got to the part where you have set up a website. So I subscribed. Best wishes with it and the podcast. Will definitely listen in. Thanks.
An epic effort…. and that’s just me getting to the end. A highlights version would be good but it looked pretty hectic there in fairness and it think you would have struggled to get any more in depth with cars about to hit western markets. Wow, though there’s such a lot going on in China!
Yeah, not to mention I had to fit my stuff in and around filming stuff with Xinhua News so this was all the content I could get out the show. Congratulations on making it to the end. Top effort.
Thank you for doing this! Well worth the watch. US and open automakers are cooked! Tariffs can only hold China back for so long 😬 Competition is amazing
The neck pillows at 1:33:00 are the ones sold at Temu, lol. I have one and it's fluffy. Not a standard thing I suppose. 😂 My vote goes to Mona M03. It already got all the attention, it seems. Nice tour btw, thank you!
Another excellent video and commentary. Thank you so much. Strange that smart is not at the show. They just launched their #5 and they don't want to show that?
Remarkable review. You basically reach the score for an Olympic gold medal. Aside this, many cars are alike from an outside view; the interior are simple and seems out of feeling. But their technology is surely a step ahead of European manufacturers. Leapmotors on the easy cheap access; Neo/Li Auto and of course BYD for high value. Zeekr on the premium? My preference seems to go to the Dena. Which one can compete with a Range Rover Sport? Aside these comments. Many thanks for your excellent review of this other show
Glad you enjoyed the show. Li Auto, Nio, Denza and Zeekrc are all competing with your Audis, Benzes and Beemers. For a Rangie Sport, hard to say. They'd all match it for luxury if not better it, but they're not so sporty in set up because China rarely goes after that market.
Great video! Keep it up! When you do have the chance, please do a review on GAC Aion Hyper HT! Recently made a pre-order of the unit here in Indonesia (changed the model name to Hyptec HT), and expected to be delivered by Sept/Oct. Thank you!
@@InsideChinaAuto Much appreciated 🙏 cuz there aren't any English speaking reviews out there. But, what do you think of the brand itself in terms of reputation? Am hoping my huge sum of money is being placed correctly. Not so many options here in Indonesia, and the particular model is the best in its price range.
@@stjiko It's hard to say what the reputation is because I so rarely see Hyptec cars on the road. China can be quite regional in terms of sales, so there's likely a tonne in Guangzhou where I haven't been for a while, but I loved the GT when I reviewed it. It was one of my most memorable cars of the year, a very different driving experience, so I'm hoping the HT is similar, albeit quite a different proposition.
@@InsideChinaAuto thanks so much for your input! Lastly, I want to get your perspective in Chinese EVs for the long term. Second hand value is not quite predictable as of now, however what do you think about their build quality? Are they built to last? It has never been a worry on durability on ICE vehicles, as they’ve been around since forever. Thank you 🙏🏼
@stjiko Well the good thing about EVs is that there are less mechanical parts to go wrong, so they should be durable enough. Some brands are better than others in terms of inspiring confidence in the interior standards, but inevitably these brands all want to go abroad, they want to be successful, so it's not in their best interests to be any less durable than their competition because a bad reputation sticks and you don't get trust back easily. Personally I find them all generally as well built as any other foreign car I've ever driven and better in some cases. I always prod and poke the dash, doors, rooflining, centre console, etc, to see if they flex, and test the wiggle of any physical buttons, and I point that out when I find bits that don't satisfy me, but most of these brands are now hiring experts who worked at legacy brands, or they had joint ventures building legacy brands, so they know what they need to do. I mean resale value of EVs is going to suck in these early years because they're just advancing so fast, early adopters will get stung for helping move the cause along, but eventually we'll start to level off, the advances won't be so big each year, and most likely we'll get the most homogenous group of cars ever, all nearly as good as each other, similar styles and proportions dictated by aerodynamics, similar specs, with only really material choices and vehicle dynamics to give a car a more premium feel or sense of character.
Congrats for the website 🎉 Hope you all the success 🙏🏻 I wish If you can provide which brand is going to sell outside China and where specifically, and if not will it be possible to order it with English software? I know someone who ordered and received it and it has usable English software but the SIM card doesn't work for OTA. Thx.
Thank you very much. Will certainly look at supporting your request. Some systems come with English available here in China, like BYD, Nio, the Huawei systems sometimes do too. There must be a way to change to a SIM for their country I'd think, question is finding where it is.
@@InsideChinaAuto not bad for the communists... imagine the diversity if they where right wing capitalist. everyone know only capitalism breeds innovations.
@@johnsmith-cw3wo That's because you think China is a communist country, or that's what you've been told, but that's only a small part of what China really is. This place is every bit as capitalist as the US, only with responsible leadership.
I left china 25 years ago. Though doing well career-wise in the states, I still have that underdog mentality. I never thought china would develop this fast and go this far. Cell phone 10 years ago. Now EV. What's next? Commercial jets? I used to hold strong opinions against chinese government. Now I changed my mind with reservations, I mean, there're places they can improve, but compared to us politicians/system ... Gosh, what a mess down here in the states.
I think it's exactly that. No government is perfect, I doubt any country is, but if your government is lifting the country steadily, consistently, creating valuable tools for the people to use now or in the future (high-speed rail, subways out into the sticks as two examples), then they're doing something right. If the people are satisfied enough with your wins to tolerate your losses, you can make do without direct choice in favour of having consistent governance that thinks long term and generally puts the needs of the country first.
you only need to hang around the huawei stand and they need to add the Avatr to the lineup :) no love for Aito!!?? :) is it because you own the Li auto? hahaha
Haha, I don't own a Li Auto, though my wife wants one. I'm not that fussed on AITO, a bit bland for my liking and the M5 didn't really excite me much, but I'm very much willing to try the M7 and M9 when they'll give me them.
@@InsideChinaAuto agreed. M5 is underwhelming big time once you try the M7.. (haven't tried m9 but read it is a strong performer as the M7. M7 really feels solid and tight on the road whereas the M5 really felt light weight and not so great at handling.

The middle one is for the driver, much like the central screen on any car. They make do without a DIN as they have a really good HUD unit with loads of info on in the driver's line of sight, plus a little one on the steering wheel itself for speed and other useful functions.
Thank you Mark for another great show. Was quite a marathon like your Beijing Auto show but enjoyed it thoroughly. Do you also consult. I am interested in your services. How can I connect with you. Best wishes
It was the first public day and some of the sales staff, especially if there's a foreigner taking a look, are very keen to try and sell a car and point out all the features, but I've seen them before, so I had to try and politely wave her away as I don't think she was really aware what I was doing.
Yeah. VW contributed a lot to Chinese mobility in the early days and the Santana is revered by those early drivers as democratising cars somehow, but like most of those brands, they saw China as a cash cow and not a threat, so they gave them their minimum.
How do you think the market in China will fare in the next 5 years ? There seems to be too many brands for them all to survive. One other thing. These brands that have been around a number of years (especially EVs) we dont see many videos of how they hold up after 5 to 10 years. You constantly see those videos for tesla etc to see what longevity is like.
I think they'll be fine to be honest. The Chinese industry has always had players go out and come in, long before EVs came along. The likes of Borgward, Changhe, Jinbei, Lifan, Brilliance, a tonne of others, all dropped out, and that's no different to Saturn, Oldsmobile, Saab, Rover, etc. Some will die, some are at great risk now, but more will remain than just the 5 or 7 that Lei Jun and He Xiaopeng think will. That's my opinion. As for the longevity, it really depends on the brand. Bear in mind, Chinese cars are getting updated or refreshed in as little at 6 months to 2 years now, not like Tesla having the same 4 models pretty much for years. The NIOs I see of the early years, the XPeng G3s, they're in good nick usually, but haven't been able to check if they're much good. Obviously with the speed of development they might get out of date pretty fast but they'll still work. BYDs might not be so good, many have been heavily abused as taxis and ride hailing cars and they weren't that good 5 years ago, but they're much, much better now and only going in one direction, so I don't really see any major issues for these.
@@InsideChinaAuto Thanks for the reply. It all just looks unusual looking in to see so many companies but I suppose the spotlight is just on them more with the EV situation.
Iq is what they call the two cars in China to make ot simple for the country that speaks no english The names are Optiq and Lyriq And they are absolutely great cars
I watched all the way to the end but had to do it in several stages, unfortunately the background noise was giving me headaches. The sheer amount of choice that China has is amazing and I'm not surprised that they're shunning the expensive & dated Western brands. I do wonder how many of these brands will exist in 20 years though, maybe the bigger companies will start purchasing smaller brands just to kill them off for extra market share and maybe the West will start buying into some of these companies in order to survive. Whatever happens, its certainly going to be interesting to observe.
Turbulent times ahead all round. Like Nio's co-founder told me on the first day, I believe there is room for more than just 5 or 7 brands as Xiaomi and XPeng's bosses think, but rather than so many Chinese brands dying (some will, but not so many), I think it'll be foreign brands leaving China that can no longer compete with what they're up against.
I know that the Ioniq 5N is already available for pre-order and will be available soon. Europeans also have months to wait. But it's surprising that there are no people in the Ioniq 5N. How good are the Chinese electric cars? It's very interesting.
Is it available in China though? I know Kia started selling their EVs in China last year but heard nothing from Hyundai and have yet to see any of them if they have indeed brought any.
When we talk about Ev in China, there's either Chinese brands or Tesla. Ev made by legacy automakers just suck. The ioniq 5n might be a decent sports suv, but the price here is 400k rmb. Nobody gonna pay any attention to this car
@@zachary2383 Exactly. I saw a thread recently about a Mercedes EQB. Honestly, compare that to a Chinese EV or Tesla, they're world's apart. No consumer here wants that crap, even if it was half the price, but it's not, it's double.
oh my that’s way too many models, I’m dazzled out😂 One thing I notice is that they may look similar for foreigners since the smart cabin (voice command, auto drive& etc.) of different brands makes up a lot of the differences between them, that’s just my opinion
There are many similarities, in part due to design dictated by aerodynamics for better efficiency, and partly by rules that dictate the heights of certain hard points and how sharp edges can be, but brands like AVATR and Zeekr show you can make more varied designs within those confines. But you're right, the choice is dazzling. I've been umming and aching over what to buy for over a year now. I think I'm finally satisfied that I want a Zeekr MIX. Now to convince Mrs Inside China Auto.
wow 53 . Do these brands actually have cars on the road actually owned by consumers? I thought building cars requires a lot of investment just to set up the molding etc etc. What is the lifespan of a model there? It seems its even faster than a tv or a laptop.
Yup, 53 at the show, a good few more that don't do shows or maybe don't see the value right now. They all make real cars, all have customers, you'll find every one on the roads right now in China and many abroad too. Many are part of bigger organisations so it's all set up to do platform shares and save costs, but bear in mind the market here is enormous so these guys can all exist in such a huge space and many export too.
@@InsideChinaAuto Very interesting. I mean the world itself is a huge market and i can only think of 5 brands from each continent. Even mobile phone theres only a handfull of Chinese brand i can think of not sold outside China. It just a matter of time they would dominate and lead the automotive industry.
@@SinaArsani The heavy competition and clear direction from the government helps immensely. Many countries can't decide what they're doing so naturally that's affecting business commitments and investment.
Absolutely. I am interested in comparing the after-sales activities in China with those globally. On the global owners' forum, most users report an average wait time of 3 to 4 weeks for parts replacement due to accidents. Since many of these costs are covered by insurance, the prices are rarely discussed. As you mentioned, the government plays a significant role, and there are growing concerns that the pricing of spare parts will be strictly regulated, leaving car owners with no choice but to accept whatever set price. In contrast, legacy manufacturers must navigate market prices along with the availability of Chinese OEM parts. Perhaps you could create videos exploring this aspect of owning Chinese brand vehicles.
@SinaArsani Might take a bit more research and resources than I have available at the moment without the return on investment needed to justify it I'm afraid. I'll keep it in mind but I can't make any promises.
oh dear - a dizzying amount of chinese brands 😵💫 - anyway - very interesting! nowadays, i think from what i see around me that range rover/landrover are the most popular premium legacy automakers. but if we all noted, their booth was empty! i was surprised to be honest since lets say they probably have the best exterior designs out of legacy automakers but i have a feeling this one was due to political issues between China and India. rover group is owned by Tata, an indian conglomerate. a year ago BYD was banned from investing in India due to indian government interference... the chinese will always remember, especially nowadays where they feel they are against the westernworld/japan/korea....
I don't think that's the main issue here, I think those who can afford a Defender get one and they're imported so not many can. Nothing there is electric, so for everyone else they're not interesting, even if they look great.
@@InsideChinaAuto yeah.. Good point about being imported and hence a premium price to it.. While you can get similar cars which are PHEVs in the same class as bigger cars are moving toward PHEVs.. Rangerover I believe have released a PHEV of their own..
@@saleh45251 Would I take a PHEV Rangie or an EREV L9? 100% the L9, even if they charged the exact same price as the Rangie, because it's just a better, more luxurious car, with more kit.
So 38:53 you speaking about the screens they copied the benz hyperscreen and on the benz side its not interesting to speak about? I think benz is still the only one who has its own display design. Every other brand esspecially the chines brands copiying each other with big screens in the middle. So benz was the first one eith its own idea and it looks very good.
Let's be honest, the Hyperscreen is nothing but a fad. It's 3 separate screens just stuck behind a huge fingerprint catcher. It's different, I'll give it that, and some people do like that, but let's not pretend it wasn't Mercedes who actually started this sticking screens on the dashboard thing in the first place with the A-Class, causing loads of cars to get broken into because people thought they were stealing a tablet.
@@oxidalpha6350 What's innovative about a Hyperscreen? It's just 3 separate screens behind glass. There's no innovation, just different application. The Tesla screen isn't innovative but what you can do with it and with your phone is far more so.
Well actually they all copied the touchscreen from a Buick in the 1980s, then Mercedes stuck a screen on the dash on the A-Class, Tesla copied that but did it bigger and put more functions inside, and then nearly all electric cars since have gone for the same idea. The design is everything else around the screen and also the UX within it which is increasingly more important. You're basically saying the second TV channel copied the first by showing TV shows, and the second man copied the first by walking. Don't know if you've ever sat in a recent Mercedes EQE or EQS but their operating system is like Windows 95 compared to the modern Chinese car makers, who also have AI abilities and more inside.
@@InsideChinaAuto yes i did. Than explain why the software in chinese cars is better than mercedes and why mercedes feels like windows 95. The chinese cars in germany stuck they are not smooth and the translation is very bad. The byd cars have very very bad driving assistent systems in germany.

Legacy auto should be really worried & I very much doubt we'll see them as they are today by the end of the decade.
Great show & thanks for showing us around.
You're very welcome. I predict a good half dozen or so of those foreign brands might not be in China by the end of the decade.

Saw myself in the background of the Lynk & Co booth. I guess I can now tell my friends I am pretty famous. Great vid as usual.
Haha, what car were you checking out?

You guys are lucky, your government doesn't prevent you having good cars even though you make a fair few cars from other brands there.

Great knowledge and insight.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Your hard work on this review is really appreciated!
Means a lot. Thank you.
You're welcome. An embarrassment of choice is indeed the biggest hurdle to choosing one.

Hi Mark just 30 minutes into your amazing walkthrough of this huge motor show , what's immediately obvious is the high level of quality of these Chinese brands, and I know I keep saying it but you're so lucky how much I love to be there with you . I got another 2 hours to watch so I'll talk back later

Thank you so much. That Denza is something else, it's like science fiction watching it drive like that.
Nice tour of the car show, appreciated 👍 really like the new avatr 07 but a little surprised it’s not kitted out with a HUD 🤔

You're welcome bro.
Awesome. About to start watching it now.
Hope you enjoy it.

Using voice control is far safer than pressing buttons, at least without taking your eyes off the road.
Xiaomi S7 has physical buttons option (additional feature) and the new zeekr 7x has buttons for basic functions (the car is designed to suit all tastes).
The Rising cars looked really good. Like the embedded screen rather than a big tablet plonked down on the dash. Wonder why it's not doing well.

Thank you for your huge effort. Living in Cyprus, I always look forward to hear news about the models, available as RHD. Your channel has helped a lot.
Glad I've been able to help. Do you get many Chinese brands there?
I expect MOST of the western OEM's to cut and run in the next 18 months myself.
Think it'll take a bit longer than that but many US and Japanese brands will be on their way over the next 5 years
Will watch all of this in stages. Thanks so much for doing it. The Chinese Brands Counter is a great addition. It would be great to see a video of an overview of all the Chinese Brands with a small piece about each and where they sit in the market.

Thank you, I will do. Still trying to find the right contact with them as my last one moved company.
Congrats for the website 🎉
Hope you all the success 🙏🏻
I wish If you can provide which brand is going to sell outside China and where specifically, and if not will it be possible to order it with English software?
I know someone who ordered and received it and it has usable English software but the SIM card doesn't work for OTA.
Thx.
Thank you very much. Will certainly look at supporting your request. Some systems come with English available here in China, like BYD, Nio, the Huawei systems sometimes do too. There must be a way to change to a SIM for their country I'd think, question is finding where it is.

It feels like it at times. Just imagine how many are competing in that space.
wow, looks like the China is living in the future when it comes to cars, especially EVs...
Very much so. They're shaping the future.
If the people are satisfied enough with your wins to tolerate your losses, you can make do without direct choice in favour of having consistent governance that thinks long term and generally puts the needs of the country first.
you only need to hang around the huawei stand and they need to add the Avatr to the lineup :)
no love for Aito!!?? :) is it because you own the Li auto? hahaha

VW Audi are the earliest auto manufacturers in China . Early 90s are the only cars you saw on road . There were almost no cars in China then or roads

@davidfarrell1062 Thing is, the Chinese market is huge, they're splitting a roughly 20 million sized pie even before they go abroad.
x9 is a wonderful MPV but i wouldnt showcase it as a vehicle to move bikes...especially carrying 5 bikes while only 2 could ride the car 😁
Haha. Maybe they're bidding to be a Tour de France support vehicle.
Thanks for the video. You need to somehow shoot so that the viewer does not get nausea. Maybe switch more smoothly between cars. 🙏
Will try harder next time. It's not easy to duck and dive between all the people and keep things smooth.
Thanks man. Appreciate it.@@InsideChinaAuto
Iq is what they call the two cars in China to make ot simple for the country that speaks no english
The names are Optiq and Lyriq
And they are absolutely great cars
Compared to Chinese cars though...
No consumer here wants that crap, even if it was half the price, but it's not, it's double.
oh my that’s way too many models, I’m dazzled out😂
One thing I notice is that they may look similar for foreigners since the smart cabin (voice command, auto drive& etc.) of different brands makes up a lot of the differences between them, that’s just my opinion
As you say, the Zeekr Mix is really what Renault should be doing with the Scenic (and the Espace, for that matter) instead of turing them into yet more pointless SUVs... Hoping it will be sold here in Sweden too, it was designed here after all...
I hope so. I dream of a Europe where MPVs and mini MPVs are back in vogue.
It seems you didn't count MG as a Chinese brand
Indeed. I don't count them fully as one, much like I don't count Volvo, though I think MG are more Chinese now than Volvo is.
Hy from Romania Europe i have a Question, can i buy a Electric SUV or Family Car big Batery 🔋 with 21.000 €uro, wath brand can i Aford , please can Somoane help me ,
Maybe consider a Leapmotor C10 when it comes to Europe very soon. Not sure what the price will be exactly but it might be close to what you're asking, not sure.
Thx 4 your video. I think 2.5 hrs is probably 2 long. Shorter clips of different brands would be better.
Other channels do the shorter videos. If you like certain brands, there are timecodes in the description for each one to get you there faster.
I like the full tour.
@@InsideChinaAuto I love this long format. Maybe my girlfrien do not, but we can watch a movie another weekend :-)
@@onetwothreefour-s1n Glad you do

You're welcome.
Thanks, always look forward to your tours of the Chinese motor shows. Hope Xi Jinping takes your advice!😊 That Hongqi looks cool.
"Hey Xi, come and look at The Beast".
"Err, no Joe, YOU come and look at THIS Beast."
nowadays, i think from what i see around me that range rover/landrover are the most popular premium legacy automakers. but if we all noted, their booth was empty! i was surprised to be honest since lets say they probably have the best exterior designs out of legacy automakers but i have a feeling this one was due to political issues between China and India. rover group is owned by Tata, an indian conglomerate. a year ago BYD was banned from investing in India due to indian government interference...
the chinese will always remember, especially nowadays where they feel they are against the westernworld/japan/korea....
🙏
You're welcome.
@@InsideChinaAuto so in your opinion a tesla copy of screens in the mittle is more stylish and innovative than the hyperscreen?
@@oxidalpha6350 What's innovative about a Hyperscreen? It's just 3 separate screens behind glass. There's no innovation, just different application. The Tesla screen isn't innovative but what you can do with it and with your phone is far more so.
@@InsideChinaAuto its about the integration and not puting just screens in to the car.
@@oxidalpha6350 The problem is that's what Germans think 'innovation' is these days, putting screens behind glass.
Volvo EX30 UK price £42k China price £21k
Indeed, and interestingly they'll buy it in the UK but almost nobody will buy it here.
So some copied tesla screens some like 38:23 copied the mercedes screen and some copied the bmw style of screen.
@@oxidalpha6350 Again, BYD's ADAS is the worst in China by far. Huawei, XPeng, Li, NIO, Zeekr, all offer better systems, Huawei being the best by far of those available in China.
It’s kinda weird the richest countries aren’t gonna have the newest and best EVs
Bizarre isn't it?
我很喜欢Zeekr 7X的设计,但它的价格有点超出我的预期,23.99万RMB我会更优先考虑tank 300
Two very different cars. You won't be going off road in a 7X but a 300 will make a decent fist of it. 7X is much more luxurious.
When you bump into a Chinese person while you’re walking around the show, do you think they know what you meant when you said “sorry”?
I think some words are more recognised than others and sorry would be one of them, but more than that I think they can pick up on the tone. I never clattered anyone, just needed to squeeze through gaps.
