I think this system is still very unstable. It took individual brilliance to beat a disprited Barca and too many times this season Madrid have drawn easy games whiles not looking great. They were too easily shut down against Athletico. Apart from that unlike the 4-3-3 of the Threepeat era the goalscoring is not evenly distributed. The wingers and much of the midfield are more of creators than scorers. I still feel this is more of a stop gap than a workable formation.

Now we have an even better forward in Mbappé than Rodrygo. Tchouameni, because of his poor form, could be replaced by a sharp Dani Ceballos this season, who is the best to fill in the shoes of Kroos in the current circumstances. Modric could replace Camavinga late in the game to add creativity. Raul Asencio, who is aggressive and quick off the line, can be placed alongside Rudiger, who is conservative and holding. These two could form an excellent duo. Now when Alaba gets back to form, Raul Asencio could go play as a right back instead of Vazquez, who has been very poor this season. Even Asencio's predecessor Ramos played as RB, notably in 2010 World Cup, where he was excellent; I believe Asencio could do it too. Now Mendy has to get back to being the French bull he once was, because I don't trust Fran Garcia enough. Players like Salah, Olise will cook him. Vincius and Jude could play the same way they did in the 2023-24 season again and thus excel. Mbappé has been very sharp recently and will surely excel in his new role. All in all, a disciplined and correctly executed Diamond formation is what we need to save the season.

That means Real Madrid are now a possession based team unlike the last 2 seasons. However they are versatile which is a good thing. They can change their style to either counter attack, defensive or high press or counter press. No other team are as versatile as Real Madrid at the moment. Manchester United are now possesion based team but they are sort of versatile. Real Madrid are on fire at the moment. I think there are lot of nuances the maker of this video has missed. Bellingham has been given to act as a 9 and a 10 as a when situation is conducive, which is true. However, this formation particularly suffers a lot when the wingers or wing back tries to put a ball in the box. This is because a traditional no 9 is not there in the box, and Bellingham can't always operate as a 9. This is why we won the last match against Sociedad, as Bellingham impacted more as a traditional no 10 or midfielder, but Joselu was present in the box at crucial times to head the ball in finally. I would say this formation is a makeshift strategy in the absence of a no 9. Once we have that, we will switch back to 4-3-3 maybe with a 10 instead of two Cm and a DM

It's not that unique it was used in 2016/17 season by Zidane with ronaldo/bale , benzema upfront isco playing behind them as no. 10 then kroos modric as cms and casemiro as defensive mid. This helped Zidane to bring in a player (isco) who could take opponents in 1v1 and create chance. The only difference compared to current squad is that Bellingham plays a false nine dropping deep and trying to score goals by making runs into the box. If you've seen rma side 2016/17 you'll understand this old tactics used by Zidane the only difference they had ronaldo and benzema as prominent strikers
You make it sound like you can make the midfield and the forwards go wide and that is not the case, this diamond position will make your team play naturally narrow, if the midfield goes too wide you leave open spaces and you leave the DM alone, so to play a wide game you need really good experience fullback if you don't you leave you self open just like what happen against atletico madrid, Juan Fran and Vasuez don't have the talent or the experience of such a job. you failed to point out the weakness of this formation which is the narrow play that needs really good fullback to work, when RM used 20 years ago the had the best LB in the world(Roberto Carlos) and a really good RB.

It's not that unique it was used in 2016/17 season by Zidane with ronaldo/bale , benzema upfront isco playing behind them as no. 10 then kroos modric as cms and casemiro as defensive mid. This helped Zidane to bring in a player (isco) who could take opponents in 1v1 and create chance.

You make it sound like you can make the midfield and the forwards go wide and that is not the case, this diamond position will make your team play naturally narrow, if the midfield goes too wide you leave open spaces and you leave the DM alone, so to play a wide game you need really good experience fullback if you don't you leave you self open just like what happen against atletico madrid, Juan Fran and Vasuez don't have the talent or the experience of such a job.
you failed to point out the weakness of this formation which is the narrow play that needs really good fullback to work, when RM used 20 years ago the had the best LB in the world(Roberto Carlos) and a really good RB.
