Yes, it all matter with the current. Whenever I’m on the boat, the current is never to strong as I’m usually fishing in 10- 15knts winds. I always start with 1/6 ounce jig head size and only change my weight if I’m not getting anything from 1/4 to 1/8. In lakes and river you can’t go wrong with a 1/8 all the way to a 1/16, of course depending on the weight and size of the jig head (bigger soft plastic = heavier weight and vice versa). Turtle back worm 4" are the best... however toadfish bite them off very easy..
Yes, I get the odd toadfish a lot. They are a soft plastic that can be really efficient or terrible.
