MATCHBOX Restoration Y15 1930 Packard Victoria 1969

- This model of yesteryear was made by Matchbox Lesney in 1969. Over it's life time it had suffered a fair amount of abuse.
A previous owner had painted it white all over and the roof and interior were missing. Luckily I had three of this model, two that I bought on Ebay and one which was donated to me. I decided that I could make two good ones from the parts left on the three models. This video shows the progress and outcome of one of the two models.
Unfortunately, the Corona virus is amongst us and I am unable to go out and buy the correct coloured paints for this makeover. I have had to use what I have in stock. This could be considered by some as a custom model, but I prefer to think that the colours that I used could actually be on a rare model out there when Matchbox also, needed to use spare paint during a time of shortage.

Packard was an American car manufacturing company based out of Detroit, Michigan USA, but now no longer in business and a Packard car is the Poor Man's Luxury Car. Those colors are beautiful. Cheers from Wisconsin USA
What a beautiful little model. A few of the old larger Matchbox cars were in my collection as a kid. The Packard was one of my favorites!

I have just recently started following your videos and as a matchbox and hotwheels lover as a kid, they bring back some fond memories. One thing that makes me crack up are the newspaper liners you use in your paint booth! I still have many videos to go and look forward to seeing them...and you paint booth lines. Good tip about labelling the bottles buddy. When I was about 5 I drank some paraffin that was stored in a pop bottle in my uncles' shed. Awesome restoration as ever!! :)

1969. Over fifty years ago now. This really takes me back. My Uncle acquired an early Thirties Senior Series Packard about that time. I know they are called "barn finds." This one really was. The straight eight engine had a cracked block. Over a period of ten years, he managed to restore the Packard. It was taken down to the frame. Lots of black Rust-o-leum. Three tons of Detroit luxury. Black on the bottom, blue on top. These are very comfortable, like sitting on a living room couch. I was sent a link a few years ago for a Packard, for sale. Lo and behold, it was my Uncle's car. Great restoration , Marty!
Packards are one of those names that are now so old and so forgotten by the public that people forget that Packard was a luxury marque in the 1930s, with close to but not quite the same cachet as Cadillac.

Great job. Many Packard's were purchased chassis & engine. Body and color scheme was up to you. The large slatted rear rack would fold down for extra luggage. After Packard's demise Ford used the Victoria name in the mid-1950's. From up over, Narragansett Bay.

Lovely resto, well done. I think the tyre was put in at the factory as a joke by a worker all those years ago, because it was in between riveted body and base no child did that. Great little find.
