FOLLOW-UP NOTES: So sorry about the low volume... the volume of the ads will be rather loud! The wire I used could have been about an inch longer, but I didn't notice it until it was glued in. You will be much better off though if the wire is too short v.s. too long. You don't want it sticking through the epoxy at the tip of the tine. It's really tough to cover it up if it's sticking out. Also, it's always a good idea to look your work over outside in natural light once you think you are done coloring it. I finished this video before I concluded that my rebuilt tine was still a bit too dark, especially on the outer side at the base. I ended up scuffing it a little more later on to lighten it up so the shade of the new tine matched better with the rest of the rack. Not sure it it was a bad visual angle for me, unnatural light, camera distraction, or all things combined.... I just didn't catch these things at the time but the video shows them well. Remember to keep your fingers wet when mixing and sculpting. Best of luck to you with your go at it!!

Searched TH-cam for a good video on this subject. What a pleasant surprise to see that it was made right here in NW Wisconsin. I think this is the best video I’ve seen on antler repair.

Thanks! It was a homemade hanger, but since then I've seen others use a stairway handrail mounting bracket for this purpose. Super cheap option!

Tried this method and the Kwik wood set up almost instantaneously. Tried another stick and was gun shy about mixing due to first batch. This left the second batch lumpy and inconsistent. Difficult to mold. Any tips or thoughts on why it set up so quick? Was in a basement. Consistent temp of 62F.

I've never had it set up that fast. You should have like 30 minutes to an hour to work with it. Be sure to keep your fingers wet as you mix the two parts together, mix them together very well and keep your fingers wet as you sculpt it also.

@@UncleBucks Thanks. I was surprised as well. The color was great but even the second batch went off fairly quickly. Unworkable after say 15 minutes. If I tried to shape it, it would crack. Maybe I just got a bad batch. Will try one more stick from a different store and see if results vary. I wore latex free gloves, and did use water.

Mine has been drying for 2 hours now and is as soft as when I started. My question is how long does it take to dry? Just make sure you knead it throughly or it won’t bond properly.

@@waylonlegend4603 my experience with it has been about two hours of time for it to set up to where you can no longer manipulate it.

Good to know. By the time I figured out the volume error, my original video was deleted from my computer.
