Just saw it and omg it was awesome. I don't even care for Star Wars, not a huge fan or know a lot about it's lore, but omfg it blew ep 7 out of the water. I hated ep 7, it was so unoriginal and no attachment to characters. This movie had far superior writing and you actually felt attachment to characters. I hope they make more spinoffs like this film because I don't have much faith in the newer episodes with how 7 kicked it off.
+Nojatha I don't know about you but I was wanting to see how the rebel alliance got the plans. Being told it was beamed to Leia's ship was not enough for me. So for years I looked into the story of Kyle Katarn and all that. Even with the rebooted continuity I am VERY happy with this movie. So yes I did ask for this

This movie.. This movie is a freaking masterpiece! It has the Star Wars futuristic but classic feel to it. It has a fantastic ending, outstanding characters, and it adds a darker tone to the Star Wars franchise. Truly a spectacular movie. Already seen it 3 times and I always come back to the trailer to feel the hype. 10/10.

Is it bad that I enjoyed this movie more then The Force Awakens , this movie to me is a modern masterpiece - and force awakens was just a really good film in my honest opinion , I wasn't really fully satisfied with Force awakens but when i saw Rogue One .. my dreams were finally fulfilled.
Both are great movies, they are just different types. This was more of a war movie than a traditional star wars film and was closer in tone to Empire Strikes Back. I loved it but it was kinda weird not seeing any jedi or lightsaber battles and I wish we could have learned more about a couple of the characters, like Saw Gerrera.
Now the movie in your avatar on the other hand.... That was just awful, from my point of view. :o

Not at all. This movie was absolutely epic and tied in very nicely with the rest of the series. With TFA we got a very good movie, but one that 1. Is the exact same plot as episode IV. 2. Has the very definition of a Mary Sue as the main character. and 3. Has a storm trooper that has guilt issues killing anyone but the people he spent his life liveing with.
Sometimes I just come back to this trailer just to feel something again.

This has proven that the star wars franchise can be good without Jedi or lightsabers.
There's an underlying threat related to lightsabers in this movie tho. One is the Deathstar powered by kyber crystals, and the other one is Vader who was a Jedi, and uses a lightsaber.

Tbh though, one of the reasons this is so good--my favorite, actually--is because it's primarily about the sacrifice of all the thankless others who died for the Rebellion. It's the most "real" and mature SW film of all, imo.

Deno Moto Funny how that isn't even remotely reflected in her production history - out of the sixty-some movies she's produced, I counted about seven with female leads. I guess Steven Spielberg was just BARELY tolerating her and her feminist rage during the thirty years she produced movies for him, since he made only one (The Color Purple) with a female lead during that period. But, y'know, I guess if you have a woman running the show without an "alpha male" like Spielberg to put her in her place, she'll just go around "enforcing" the casting of people who aren't anglo-saxon men. And apparently she'll get rid of white directors too, even though none of the new/upcoming Star Wars movies actually have non-white male directors. So even though there's clearly tons of white men running the show at Lucasfilm, she still produced a movie where a woman got to hold a lightsaber, which obviously makes her a raging feminazi.

Don't forget S7 of The Clone Wars. Rebels also had some really great storylines
JJ Abrams had a very good plan for the trilogy that included stuff like Rey and Chewie stealing a star destroyer and Finn leading a stormtrooper revolt but Kathleen Klux Kennedy screwed it up by giving creative control to Rian Johnson. If JJ had directed the sequel trilogy it would have actually been able to compete with the OT in terms of how universally loved they are

Kathleen Kennedy gave creative control to JJ Abrams in TFA, and did the same to Rian Johnson in TLJ. The only movie she interfered in was TROS, which would have sucked anyway because JJ Abrams cant come up with original stories (which is why he just made an updated ep4) and RJ had already used up Episodes 5 and 6..yet JJ still opted to recycle whatever he could from episode 6 and make it different from what was used in TLJ

I just left the theater. This was an excellent film. I felt like I was viewing a genuine Lucas Film. I encourage these filmmakers to use the novels for more pieces of the Star Wars Univers.

Joseph Padron I thought they did a great job with the exception Darth Vader is outfit seemed a little off. Like his helmet and his suit twisted as he walked and I don't recall that before and his voice seemed off. I'm sure it's not the same actor anymore which is probably why it seemed different.

What I really want from this movie is a feeling of Jedi absence. Let me explain. I want it to feel sort of like "God is dead. We're truly on our own". That's really a feeling I never got from the original trilogy.
I want it to feel sort of depressing. Like "The Jedi are dead... We have no hope..."
The Jedi were such a monumental factor in the galaxy, that I think the feeling of their being gone is something that needs to be explored.
Or maybe even the idea that no one in the galaxy knows what really went down. After all, the Emperor told everyone that the Jedi were planning a coup of the government. What if most people believed that, but there were some people who said "No that doesn't make sense..." and they were silenced?
I'm really hyped to see the Empire back in play, is what I'm getting at
I doubt that everyone in the galaxy believes that the Jedi were truly evil. We mostly just saw their "political representants" (which lets face it, are a bunch of weakling cowards). There were several groups that gave support and shelter to surviving Jedi. Soo I think thats a good idea but still have the hope that even if the Jedi arent there, the force is with them
This is supposed to take place after The Purge. If there's anything Jedi-related content in Rogue One, I think/hope it will be through dialogue only , as you put it. Reminiscing a time when Jedi were around to protect the Galaxy. Perhaps a hint to a certain existing (yet exiled) Jedi somewhere near the end, that would still be a nice nod.

Except that it isn't true. There were Jedi survivors such as Ahsoka and Kanan who are actively assisting the Rebellion. The Jedi were never "gone" just no longer as numerous.
I just want Rouge One to have more of a war movie feel to it, save the adventure stuff for the trilogy

I would go out on a limb and say its the best Star Wars movie so far. The characters feel the most human in this one. Dont want to really say more than that. But for anyone else reading the comment go watch it, it lives up to the hype and even more I would say.
Rogue One is a brilliant movie - definitely a top 3 if not better - but whoever cut this trailer is an absolute wizard. I've seen the movie twice now, and this trailer still gives me the willies.

Nah. Its not very brilliant, its just a generic war movie, not alot of uniqueness the last act is pretty fun and a great action sequence but besides that the entire movie is just... meh for me.
This is the only Disney Star Wars movie I really like.
Perhaps the episodes 7 to 9 would have been better if Gareth Edwards had directed them.

This movie does a great job of representing what it would actually feel to be like on the front lines of a war like this. You feel pride, you feel hopelessness and loss. You truly feel the consequences of beings mere mortal fighting an unbeatable force

What a fantastic movie. I saw it in theaters with my dad. There is a theater complex halfway between the towns we live in so we were going to meet up there to see it. I got there first and was waiting. I got both our tickets because he seemed to be running behind. He got there but was ready to call the whole thing off because he had been running late and forgot his phone, plus it was raining. I told him I already purchased our tickets and just said, "Let's just go. At worst we just missed the pre-preview commercials. In a few minutes we will be in our seats and watching Star Wars." He went along and afterwards said he was so glad I talked him into staying. Plus after that we both drove back to his house and watched Episode IV from the blu-ray set I got him the previous year for Christmas. What a great day that was.
I had a similar theater experience. It was winter, because Star Wars movies used to be released every winter, but it was raining too. A freezing rain. I waited with my family for my grandparents to show up because they wanted to see the movie as well, so we missed a lot of the preview ads. I remember noticing that a lot of the scenes in the trailers and TV spots were cut from the actual movie, which was disappointing, but everything about the film was absolutely magnificent. Rogue one will always be my favorite Star Wars movie, because you simply cannot get the same feelings from Revenge of the Sith, the Sequels, or any of the other star wars movie.
I have a big feeling this is going to be way better than the Force Awakens!

rook1e5 it was epic dude. Especially the ending scene (SPOILER ALERT) when Vader killed all those rebels. The rebel actors did great showing how terrified they were of vader.

I don't really see where you're getting that. There's no "we must please the SJW's" vibe coming off in my opinion. Also, given how we've heard her say only a few lines of dialogue, I think it's a little early to say "she's annoying". Also, I don't care if she's attractive or not. I'm 56, and i've seen the original Star Wars Trilogy in the theaters when it was like $1.75 to go see one of these movies. This is a total breath of fresh air and had the spirit of the original 3 Star Wars films. I'm 10~16 all over again! Incredible...
