Just a heads up on the Wampler Triumph. On Wampler's video he shows that it has 2 dip switches inside called "Glass", that seem to kind of boost the presence for each mode of the switch individually if you want/need to.
Can always count on Andertons to showcase new products daily. I don't care for the Catalinbread pedals, not my cup of coffee. The Wampler pedals sound great, especially for $99 USD. After watching your video I immediately went to Wampler's website to check them out further. Brian has two good videos on his website for each of these new pedals. The Triumph is based on the Bad Monkey and the Boss SD1 pedals. The Triumph also has two internal dip switches where you can change the tone to be a little bit more glassy in Brian's words. Its subtle, not a big difference. The Phenom uses JFET's instead of Op amps and diodes for clipping, and it is based on a 5150 type sound. I don't really need any new pedals right now, but if I have a GAS attack, these two new Wampler pedals have sure piqued my interest, especially at their price.
Mr Wampler just produces some of the best pedals. Phenom is simply great. Just bought one from Anderton's. Good idea to see first time reactions, tells you a lot.
I'm a simple guy. I do look for pedals that are very simple to use. I am looking for a fuzz without any complicated tweaking, which is hard to find. Fuzz that isn't too harsh and adds a little colour to the overall sound. That Catalinbread sounds great. Will have a look if it's great with transparent / mid boosted gain.
I think it's FEE-nom... not Venom with an F. LOL. I can't tell if he's messing with us on that or not 😂 I've seen a few videos now where the Phenom pedal sounds great, just like the Triple Wreck without all the bells and whistles, which is exactly what I want. I loved the Triple Wreck pedal, it just had too many modes and switches for my liking. Now I'm not Catalinbread simple, but I'm not Triple Wreck complex, either. I think the Catalinbread pedals are great if you can try them out with your rig, I have a hard time believing they're going to sound good with every setup, but if it sounds good with your particular rig, grab it.
Catalinbread makes amazing pedals. These 3, however, are NOT among them... (I scratch my head wondering what they were playing at when they came up with these). I REALLY like the Phenom from Wampler. Great tone and tone-shaping versatility at a very reasonable price.
Re: jacks placement Top mounted or side mounted is fine, just put the power jack somewhere else. Too often, brands will try to put all the jacks in the same space, which makes things difficult when using right-angle power plugs. MXR power jack placement (on most of their pedals) is right next to the input and very inconvenient when wiring up a board. Top jacks that also include power tend to feel cramped, too (Walrus, etc).
Hey guys. Here in the States the majority of folks pronounce phenom with a long E. Pheenom. Yeah, I know, another knife thrust to the English language courtesy of the USA!
It’s staggering how much more Wampler gives on their affordable line than the other companies out there. I’ve been looking for an overdrive on the website of a popular giant music store in the states, and I will look at each pedal to see what controls are available then scroll down and read the description to get a sense of features and overall intention of the tone. Then, if it sounds promising, I’ll look up a couple of TH-cam demos to hear it. I did all that with the Triumph and decided I really liked it. I didn’t remember what the price was; I think I just scrolled past it in my initial look. I was slightly stunned when I went back and saw it was only $99US. It will soon be my next pedal.
Insane right? Most expensive pedals don't even include those features. Wampler's deluxe version is also packed with small features like choosing how to stack and midi features. It's insane. He seems like a great guy.
I feel like we're in a lucky spot where there are so many products of good quality and good sound, that the trick is figuring out who you are as a player and what works best for your spectrum of use. Dammit, I came for gear, not introspection!
@TheBANDEMIC also, like Brian wampler said himself, the collective series is not made in usa, would simply be impossible with the quality of the components and the features of these two Pedals.
I have the phenom and the triumph but you need to explore their eq settings to get the best sounds...I like the crunch on the truimph more than the bright mode...bright mode is mid heavy and crunch is much fuller....great pedals. also stack them and see what you can get and with the overdrive, cut the gain much more and crank the level and you'll get a really bluesy tone.
I couldn't agree with you more about the top mounted jacks. It is my biggest pet peeve. All of my pedals have side mounted jacks, save the Plethora X5, and even with the flattest connectors, the cables still take a LOT of space!
Am I wrong in assuming that Phenom is pronounced "fee-nom?" Yes, no, maybe so? Maybe it's an American thing? Regardless, love the videos and silliness as always!
The wampler pedals are awesome, wonder what triumph into phenom sounds like? That'd be my inclination. Caitlinbread fuzz with delay would be a good mix possibly. Great demo.
It seems like the Catalinbread pedals sounded markedly better with the Les Paul than the Tele. They would probably benefit from pairing with an EQ. Not sure why you wouldn't include that on the pedal instead of a single knob.
Don't you get to a point where you ask "How many more overdrives can there be?" If anything, people are loyal to or like certain brands better, but tbh, most chorus are the same, most delays too, most OD are TS9 copies, etc. I'm here for the playing and the jokes, mainly
Honestly the phenom is the best distortion pedal ive ever heard bar maybe the blues driver. The blues driver is a unique pedal that goes from light overdrive to basically fuzz though
Nothing at all to do with the video being shown, but please consider bringing back guitar Paradiso, it must not have been as successful as hoped but damn I loved them
From what I know about single knob pedals, I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if the Catalinbread all had an internal trim pot they aren't telling us about since many manufacturers don't
Hey, did I miss a video showing off the new Fender Kingfish tele? There's no way a new purple telecaster could come out and not get it's own video, right?
Enjoyed the show fellas +1, Henning loves the triumph he's no agenda and shoots from the hip. Me I wish it had tiger cub added 😂😂😂👍👍👍🥃Respect to you fellas
You should check out the H.A.L.O by Alairex. It stands for "Harmonic Amp Like Over Drive" and imo is one of, if not the best, drive pedal I've ever used. The company no longer exists and they only put out this one product- no idea why they folded, especially considering how good the drive is. They made a deluxe version with two channels and several different clipping options (which I can't afford)- but they also made the Jr. version which is just one channel w/ bass, contour, and tone parameters and two clipping options. I have the Jr. version- there's no fizz, it's all growl- and it gets extremely tight and punchy if you tweak it right. One clipping mode is very open and has a ton of volume, sounds like an overdrive- the other is gain city man, pure distortion- you can go all the way to scooped out metal if that's what you want. They're not cheap- around 200 bucks- and not that easy to find, since the company folded- but trust me, you don't want to sleep on the HALO drive.
These pedals don't really do it for me, but I think that's because I'm not the target audience. These are for someone who doesn't have a drawer full of overdrive and distortion pedals already. Someone who needs the effects but doesn't have much money to spend- and they're perfect for that person. And the CB pedals could also appeal to the guys who love single knob pedals- and they do exist. There's a whole group of guitarists who detest tweaking pedals and they love pedals with just one knob on them. In fact, that's how CB is marketing them- they're not marketing them as a budget option but instead as a simplified version of their pedals. Who knows if that was the true calculus when they were conceived- tbh I highly doubt it was. I think like Capt. said they saw JHS come out with the 3 series and realized that there must be a market there worth tapping into. Brian on the other hand- I think Brian has always wanted to do a more affordable line of pedals- he strikes me as that kind of standup guy.
Hmmm untrue for me. I think these are perfect for a smaller rig or looking for a different flavor of gain - who want more than the usual 3 knobs - without having to break the bank. I don't like the one-knob model - we all don't hear tone the same way. I have a lot of pedals including a KOT and I'm still intrigued by these little guys. We'll see when I get them tomorrow though...
No offense, but a Wampler (by design) is a Wampler only if it has the Wampler-Logo on top of the pedal. Does Brian not stand up for the cheap stuff with his name, so he omitted it? Is it still made in Boutique-USA or … in affordable China?
It's 99 dude. No ones going to make that in the US. Also US made pedals probably sourced their components in china. I guess this is Taiwan/Vietnam, like Boss pedals.
Anyone hear what happened to Catalinbread the company? I heard the company founder had died and several employees tried to take a bunch of the intellectual property and either start a new pedal company or take over Catalinbread. Apparently the founder’s family was left the company and sued.
Ugh! I hate fuzz pedals! Edit: WOW! When Pete grabbed his LP, and played it through the Phenom, it really came to life! His tone reminds me of Vivian Campbell, when he was in Dio! It's Phenom-enal!
I only ever praise you guys, but do you believe that the people who are buying these pedals are playing through an £1150 amp? Just some occasional discretion will help with purchase decisions for those looking. Thanks guys.
Thanks for the video! 🙂
You paid for it guess
i want it.
Thanks for the Phenom
I love and own both...great pedals!
Just a heads up on the Wampler Triumph. On Wampler's video he shows that it has 2 dip switches inside called "Glass", that seem to kind of boost the presence for each mode of the switch individually if you want/need to.
The Wampler Phenom sounded AMAZING!!
You could say it sounded phenomenal
Sounds as good as a bad monkey 🐒
I really like the Wampler Phenom, one of best distortions I've heard. The Catalinbread Fuzz was nice as well.
I agree!
The Triumph is based on a Bad Monkey and an SD-1. Played one recently at GC and loved it.
So price could increase like Bad monkey did?
@@heyheymymind1939 no. The Triumph is readily available and still being made. More than enough to meet the demand.
I don’t know if anybody else noticed but I’ve been loving the addition of 50FPS at 4K.
at least 4 people noticed!
When Pete switched to the Les Paul the first time, the frame speed did seam clearer. Nice catch! I was wondering about that.
I think folks are in the they market for High end reverb and delay for cheaps. Most are fairly settled on their drive.
Speak for yourself! The search never ends!

Nice info, thanks for sharing 👍
LED colors: Blue=Silicon fuzz face, Green=screamer, Orange=DS-1. SSDD. But Great play through, As always 🤘
Mr Wampler just produces some of the best pedals. Phenom is simply great. Just bought one from Anderton's. Good idea to see first time reactions, tells you a lot.

The Wampler Phenom I predict will be a staple on peoples boards in a couple of years. For the price it’s incredible.
I think it's FEE-nom... not Venom with an F. LOL. I can't tell if he's messing with us on that or not 😂

The Captain and Danish Pete, "Les-ing it up," as they say. Stunning and brave.
11:10 Peter channeling Carly Simon - it took me a minute to go back, sounds good!
Like the Triumph most
Catalinbread makes amazing pedals. These 3, however, are NOT among them... (I scratch my head wondering what they were playing at when they came up with these). I REALLY like the Phenom from Wampler. Great tone and tone-shaping versatility at a very reasonable price.
Agreed the company died when Howard left....their recent offering have been overpriced garbage. And rhis is "Shaffordable"
12:04 & 13:03 = Just bought a Phenom !!
I'm loving the Wampler Phenom. I think that is going to be my next pedal.
Re: jacks placement
Top mounted or side mounted is fine, just put the power jack somewhere else. Thanks for the morning dose of Andertons! ♥️

Just can't believe the Catalinbread pedals are more than the Wampler and JHS 3 Series!
Why not? Did you feel that way when EQD and Mythos do one-knobbers?
Catlinbread is located in an expensive city they undoubtedly have more cost involved in production.
@TheBANDEMIC also, like Brian wampler said himself, the collective series is not made in usa, would simply be impossible with the quality of the components and the features of these two Pedals.
I'm gonna call it now, I'll probably be winning the Klon. Thanks in advance, I couldn't have done it without you.
As they say in Scotland “is that a donut or a meringue ? No you’re right enough it’s a donut
That Phenom pedal sounds really good, very accurate, Pete made it rock! Wampler all day
I have the phenom and the triumph but you need to explore their eq settings to get the best sounds...I like the crunch on the truimph more than the bright mode...bright mode is mid heavy and crunch is much fuller....great pedals. also stack them and see what you can get and with the overdrive, cut the gain much more and crank the level and you'll get a really bluesy tone.
Really liking the FEE-nahm pedal.
I prefer the Phenom; it’s easy for me to get a good overdrive tone but distortion is more difficult - I think the the Phenom is a pedal that I “need”.
I couldn't agree with you more about the top mounted jacks. It is my biggest pet peeve. All of my pedals have side mounted jacks, save the Plethora X5, and even with the flattest connectors, the cables still take a LOT of space!
Top mounted are more flexible for side to side spacing.
Am I wrong in assuming that Phenom is pronounced "fee-nom?" Yes, no, maybe so? Maybe it's an American thing? Regardless, love the videos and silliness as always!
Fhe-nom. Is how I would say it's pronounced. The ph gives an fh sound usually in the states
The wampler pedals are awesome, wonder what triumph into phenom sounds like? That'd be my inclination. Caitlinbread fuzz with delay would be a good mix possibly. Great demo.
Those Catalinbread are neat. They could have gone with no knobs even! Love that Wampler Triumph too.
It seems like the Catalinbread pedals sounded markedly better with the Les Paul than the Tele. They would probably benefit from pairing with an EQ. Not sure why you wouldn't include that on the pedal instead of a single knob.
Good to see other people in the world abide by my same driving methods
Green Light =go
Yellow light= go faster
Red light = go with caution
Don't you get to a point where you ask "How many more overdrives can there be?" If anything, people are loyal to or like certain brands better, but tbh, most chorus are the same, most delays too, most OD are TS9 copies, etc. I'm here for the playing and the jokes, mainly
I had a Wampler Sovereign, they make great pedals.
These guys had The space echo before anyone else. Shipped to USA super fast. Trust them.
That first note Pete played on the fuzz sounded like he was about to play Airbag from Radiohead
Honestly the phenom is the best distortion pedal ive ever heard bar maybe the blues driver. The blues driver is a unique pedal that goes from light overdrive to basically fuzz though
Feels like those Catalinbread ones totally miss the point of a no frills pedal. £150 is crazy considering what else you could get for the same money.
EQD had a bunch of one-knobbers. So did Mythos. None of them were cheap.
He misses turning knobs so much that he starts turning the ones on the Les Paul /lol! 😂
I prefer the side mounted jacks. I really only need about 3 or 4 pedals at most.
Pedals are great but I want the Anderstons sweaters
Are you guys going to demo the Warm audio Klon?
Nothing at all to do with the video being shown, but please consider bringing back guitar Paradiso, it must not have been as successful as hoped but damn I loved them
Light on the CB Fuzz should've been purple. And a button for octave.
From what I know about single knob pedals, I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if the Catalinbread all had an internal trim pot they aren't telling us about since many manufacturers don't
@@johngee4306 Probably but even then, some manufacturers like Morley have internal pots for the actual effects that are a "set it and forget it" thing
Good sounds. Like we have heard 26.000 times before.
do you have the Eastwood pedals?
Hey, did I miss a video showing off the new Fender Kingfish tele? There's no way a new purple telecaster could come out and not get it's own video, right?
My dream is to work at Andertons.
Is it just me or does the look of that Triumph pedal remind anyone else of the Trump Campaign yard signs lol.
I wonder if Brian meant Phenom Feenom
What watch does The Captain wear?
The “fee nomm” sounds fee nominal!!!🤘❤️
What about the glassy switch inside the wampler pedal
Was getting some real Mick Mars vibes from the Phenom pedal, COOL!
Where is Oz? We need him for more presenting videos :)
Morning gents! Great video. Can never have too many pedals. Must have ALL the gear 🤣🤘🏾
Enjoyed the show fellas +1, Henning loves the triumph he's no agenda and shoots from the hip. Me I wish it had tiger cub added 😂😂😂👍👍👍🥃Respect to you fellas
Brian Wampler always has created the best high, low, and medium gain pedals.
You should check out the H.A.L.O by Alairex. It stands for "Harmonic Amp Like Over Drive" and imo is one of, if not the best, drive pedal I've ever used. Do you sell those patch cables? Love em.
They look like the Ernie Ball flat patch cables which they sell
Yup, here you go www.andertons.co.uk/search?search=ernie%20ball%20patch
Triumph and Phenom are good.
The Phenom is phenomenal! Yeah I know that's a lame one but that pedal is really cool! Thanks guys!
These pedals don't really do it for me, but I think that's because I'm not the target audience. These are for someone who doesn't have a drawer full of overdrive and distortion pedals already. I think Danish Pet knows more British slang than the captain. 😅
Sounds amazing would be happy to win any
Wampler Phenom is amazing !!
Damn.. feel better Pete!!
love em all but the simplicity of the Catalinbread pedals is appealing to me ...
Noel Gallagher uses caitlandbread pedals. They are phenomenal 👌👍🎸
Definitely the phenom. For my liking. 🎸🎼🔊❤️🔥
y'alls website been down for a fair bit now
No offense, but a Wampler (by design) is a Wampler only if it has the Wampler-Logo on top of the pedal. Does Brian not stand up for the cheap stuff with his name, so he omitted it? Is it still made in Boutique-USA or … in affordable China?

Lezzing it up... thanks for that
I love these "affordable" lines. But yeah let's make them all the same color and layout😂 maybe the LEDs should be on when they're off?
Blue is the colour of the cops, the fuzz
Ugh! I hate fuzz pedals!
Edit: WOW! When Pete grabbed his LP, and played it through the Phenom, it really came to life! His tone reminds me of Vivian Campbell, when he was in Dio! It's Phenom-enal!
American pronunciation is "FEE-nahm" boys. I like versatility so I just bought the Triumph.
Not crazy about 1 knob anythings. Seems to me Catalinbread sought to make cheap pedals that sound pretty good but will leave you needing more
Nice pedals!!!
Pedal distortions always sound so artificial compared to amp distortion to me
You just can't go wrong buying a Wampler pedal(s).
Lee- I’m guessing phenom as in phenomenal.
Pete's pulling out some seriously Judas Priest riffs on the Phenom.
Guys, I think it's pronounced "fee-nom"! Like the fuzz the best! 🎸🔊🔊🔊
Wilko Johnson - "do I look like a cyclist" or words to that affect.
I only ever praise you guys, but do you believe that the people who are buying these pedals are playing through an £1150 amp? Just some occasional discretion will help with purchase decisions for those looking. Thanks guys.
Phenom !!
I certainly preferred the sound of the Wamplers, don’t know about the rest of you
Phenomenal
We usually say Fee-nom
Those Wamplers are just better. 3 band EQ is enough to replicate other sounds, you just have to use your ears.
My guys 😂 in america we call it fee nom
When did £150 become labelled as 'affordable' haha.
Lee-nam-a-na. Do-do, do-doo-doo...
