What an unbelievable fragrance video! I live in Scotland and Edinburgh still impresses me each time I visit. I bought Pure Malt after watching and I can't think of a more perfect match between a fragrance and a City.

nice to see edinburgh again. born in scotland, moved to canada at age 13. went back there maybe15 years or so ago, been a long time since i've been there.my other half is from edinburgh, lived close to princess st, where we would walk to in about 15 minutes, go to marks and sparks,etc. i have whiskey from the whiskey exchange, the no longer made lochan ora ( a sweet "dessert" whiskey, like a whiskey liquer similar to a chivas regal). i like the mix of old/new architecture.sounds like pure malt would go well with lochan ora. you need to try innis & gunn, their beer is aged in old whiskey barrels, and they are an edinburgh brand. brought a small tear to my eye watching this, nice job.

Sublime video! Fantastic tribute to all time great Pure Malt and such a beautiful city that I would love to visit sometime, specially as whiskey/whisky lover.
I completely agree on the scent and performance from old batch of old Limited Edition release, backup bottle from 2016 is quite different and far from what old bottle packs.
Right know I have Ravi by Naso di Raza on one hand and Pure Malt on the other, I am in a boozy heaven.
Has to be one of your best videos, and that is saying something by your standards. The scent is also one of the greatest in the designer relm. Unbelievable.

21:32 'I'm the fragrance apprnssssssssssss'. That whisky WAS good! Went to Edinburgh during a stormy weekend back in Feb and the castle was closed... We had endured the 'sleeper' train up from London, but well it was a a stormy weekend so were taking a chance. So no boat trip to see the bridges, no castle, but we made the effort and jumped in a cab to the Forth bridge and had a lovely breakfast. Hey, you got me going now... a special place indeed.

Great video, the cinematography made me feel like I was watching an Anthony Bourdain show. I would love it if you did a Beaufort London video they have some interesting fragrances.
This was the best fragrance review that I have watched on you tube.... without a shadow of a doubt.
This video takes you on a journey as well as just being a review,...(Pure Malt) ....and if I may say ....Such a superb blend of colours that projected from buildings , windows and lights, all of which provided a true sense of flavour and warmth throughout the whole duration.
The combination of historical buildings and whisky shops really worked well with the product being reviewed....
..I suspect that you sampled a number of single malts during your visit ...and this would have made the whole experience complete.
A truly remarkable video and a great review of a remarkable fragrance.
Just one question. ....did you attempt to descend those long steep steps on your return from making the video... especially after a few pure malts?

As for going down those stairs, I did yes, very slowly and wobbly.
I remember years back trying to get my hands on this juice, and settling for pure Havane. I walked into a marshals today and was surprised to see at least 8 originally packaged boxes up for grabs for $42bucks tax included. I would suggest folks who enjoy this scent stock up on considering the L’Oréal takeover and a what’s already been done through reformulations. My first bottle of this juice was definitely a reformed one and as soon as I sprayed the one I got today I was transported back to 2009. Thanks for the quality content, I’ll think I go and have a Basil Hayden’s neat , cheers mate! Prost! 🥃🍻
Micah Christopher pure havane is nice as well though. They are both great aftershaves. I have both but maybe even prefer pure havane out of the two of them.

Hey man, If new to whiskys I'd recommend either a Glen Grant 10 year or an Auchentoshan 12 year to ease you in, both very drinkable and enjoyable.
Mate you take fragrance reviewing to another level. The fact that this is more like a vlog not only making it informative (regarding the fragrance) but also entertaining to watch as you take the audience to walk the city and enjoy the scenary. However, the only part that I wish you cud've cut is when the dude's interupting you, kinda ruin the smoothness of the video. Nevertheless a great video, looking forward to own a Pure Malt with "Thierry Mugler" written on the box soon!

I love Pure Malt. Luckily I have the Thierry Mugler version (now it's just Mugler and performance is poorer). Inspired by this video and my love for the smoky Isley style of single malt, I just tried layering Pure Malt with Bois D'Ascese by Naomi Goodsir: the result is an Isley version of Pure Malt :) Not a bad combo at all
This made me buy pure malt, I've already had pure havane and loved it.

Beautiful review 5/5. As far as the frag goes 2.5/5 can't find the single malt...can find malted milk with vanilla, some berry like fruit nuances, some abstract woods and yeah alcohol in the opening 😀👍👍 Talking about Mugler Amen pure malt 2020
I work in the spirits industry as an educator for a whisky company, so I go to Edinburgh quite often and I love it, I'm also into fragrances. I definitely get the connection between whisky and fragrance (and wine for that matter). I'm yet to try out Pure Malt though... shame on me!!! Might be my next purchase...
By the way love the audio on the tascam, I assume this is a conscious choice over a lav type set up?
Great Review George like always your Videos are just quality! I hate single malt for me it tastes Soapy and other Whiskey's like smoky ones i alsow dont like but i like the Dessert Whiskey taste like butterscotch Candys or something and thats why I like pure malt the only downside for me that keeps me from loving it is that it reminds me of Axe dark choclate and i really dont like that 🙈😅 alsow i smell A lot of ISO E Super in it and longevity and sillage are not really satisfying to me but I dont got A vintage one I have the MUGLER Version.
Phenomenal production for a phenomenal fragrance. On of a scale of 1 - 10, Pure Malt is a 20.

I haven't owned this fragrance for much more than a year but in the short time I have it already has formed so many memories. It was somehow nostalgic the very first time I ever wore it. It reminds me of the that beautiful time of year between holidays in the late fall, early winter here in Chicago. Walking at the Christkindl Market in Daley Plaza right in the heart of the loop. Spice nuts, everyone drinking their mulled wine (I stick with my Irish whiskey, sorry George. But I do NOT turn my nose up at a good Scotch either..)
I love the original A*Men so so much but this might top it..
Can anyone speak to the difference between assumed reformulated MUGLER "Pure Malt" and the pre-Loreal "Thierry Mugler" Pure Malt? I've only ever smelled the MUGLER version, I love it- but I'm wondering if it can somehow be even better and if it's worth shelling out the extra money??
I love Pure Malt so much. As far as boozy fragrances go, this was my favorite for the longest time until I finally got my nose on Nasomatto's Baraonda.

@@o2xb Yes, I own it. :) When I first tried it, only about 2 or 3 months after getting into fragrances, I couldn't stand it. I very quickly came around after several weeks of coming back to it - each time getting better and better. Just goes to show how first impressions can often fool you!
Great review and very nice fragrance, I received this the other day and love it however, it lasts no longer than one hour on me and it's completely gone, I couldn't have received a fake because it's from fragrance shop here in the UK, really disappointed, man

Honestly I get a huge association to tf oud wood. With oud wood of course being way way more powerful. I don't even no if there is any wood in life malt but to me they smell very similar.
