HOLY CRAP, BRANDON!!! My Pure Malt arrived today! I was so nervous, almost intimidated, to try it! I opened it up and applied three sprays! I couldn't stop smiling! This is my new #1 cologne (I have 18 total) and my new signature scent! The opening smell is just ORGASMIC, and the dry down is also amazing! I wish I could capture the opening scent and keep it forever! I've honestly never smelled any other cologne, or perfume, like this before! I can't wait to see how other will react.

I missed my delivery of this and literally ran to the UPS up the street and picked this up, no lie. Dont get this twisted, this is HANDS DOWN THE BEST COLOGNE EVER!!! I have more than 30 bottles including Le Male, Issey Miyake, Paco Rabanne One Million, etc...this makes them all bow down. Blind buy this, you wont be disappointed.
Pure Malt is indeed amazing. I never liked A*Men, especially the opening. This I loved from the start though. It's currently a tie between Pure Malt and YSL La Nuit de L'Homme (getting lots of compliments when wearing that one) as my favorite scent. Great reviews Brandon, really enjoy them.

Based on this review, and my gut vibe (blind buy), I went ahead and ordered this from the TM website. Needless to mention, I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! Love A*Men (original), but A*Men Pure Malt is extraordinary. I plan to check out Pure Coffee and Pure Leather--(arrives in the states Sept. 7th) next! Good look and thanks again Brandon!!
Great review. I grabbed a new bottle of this from a member of basenotes awhile back, before they started flooding back onto eBay. Now is definitely the time to buy this or stock up, it's an amazing fragrance that definitely should be a mainstay in the Mugler lineup!

You are one of the few that actually got right into the notes, the magic that happens with (some) of Thierry Mugler's stuff. Thank you for describing from top to bottom, I was picturing in my head the casks and taking a wiff at the ol' whisky factory.

You're getting progressively better in each review....I emailed Thierry Mugler and they're suppose to be sending some samples; hopefully this will be included. As a side note, I watch other fragrance reviews but I don't always make comments....you have held my attention because you're genuine and not doing it for competition.

Just got it in the mail today, it blew me away. I was waiting for that berry note you were talking about, it took a minute or two for it to show up, but there is a slight berry note. This is way better than original A*men.
First time watching this vid. Bought PURE MALT two months ago at a local Nordstrom. Far and away, the best scent in my rotation.
Great job summing up what I thought altogether, though I didn't quite catch the berry top notes (I just smelled like a cheap drunk for 10-15 minutes *hah*). But once the dry-down hits, it's on point. Kudos to Mugler for the re-release.

this is the shit. im so glad that i got this. when i first smelled it. i almost fanted. this smells so good. i did not get the dry down. but the opening it great. and yeah you don't discontinue this. you make this permanent.

I didn't like this a whole lot when I first got it, but it's grown on me since then. It seems to last on me better than most other things, which is saying a lot because my skin tends to just drink cologne in and not let it out much.
I agree this is a fantastic fragrance.
For all you who has a problem with the sprayer, try focusing the finger-pressure on the frontpart of the "print", i found this to be a more direct pressure on the sprayer.
We need to start a campaign with Mugler to have them make this a regular item Brandon!
Dude in all fairness there's a few things that smell like it, Dior Fahrenheit eau de parfum but boy is it expensive but I like it much more, lasts longer as well. Still subbed though.

I bought 3 bottles of this blindly off fragrancenet. $52.86 shipped (free shipping and 15% off). My only regret is that I didn't buy 5! It's everything everyone is saying it is. An extremely well balanced, equalized and sophisticated version of the original. Which I also love. Definitely flawless. If the notes in it and what you hear about it appeal to you, there's nothing in this fragrance that is done incorrectly. Hopefully the reissue sales spike inspires this to go permanent.

I tried it again this past weekend, but instead of the intial 2 sprays i did before, i really went for it!! i sprayed 3 on my neck and 1 on each wrist.. projected alot more and lasted around 10/12 hrs this time. Yes it was a real bottle, i got it from the duty free shop at London airport, i dont buy fakes!! Its a great smell and i really like it, i was just expecting JPG Le Male projection and mileage. Im gonna buy Tom Ford's Tobacco and Vanille next ;-)

I am wearing the Pure Malt here at work. I gotten a few complements here at work and a lot of looks at on the train. Love the load note gives me a good hell of a blast. Lol go get that Pure Malt and stop over looking it. Lol.
I bought some of this last week. Very tasty juice. :) The berries at the start are so delicious. for me though after about 45 mins it settles down considerably, and after 3 hours I can barely smell it. :/
I tried the normal amen today for the first time. This was strong for 3 hours, and I could still smell it afterwards until I went to bed 8+ hrs after application. When first applied The tar note seemed nasty compared with pure malt. a bit like an ash tray smell. After it settles tho
La Male 2 sprays is enough for me to get complements. A good one in my book have own it for 3 years and still go to it for a night out or a nice date. I usually spray it 1-2hrs pre going out.

I picked up a bottle of this blind at London Heathrow Airport yesterday...paid £40 ($63 US dollars) and they had shelves and shelves and shelves of the stuff! Iv not tried it yet, but if its as good as i hear, im going back for a 2nd bottle :-)
Are their any chocolate notes in pure malt like the Angel original, I haven't heard anyone mention that in these reviews for APM, as that was a very noticeable note on the original Angel?
@tonimudiwa You should definitely try it! My first bottle arrived today, and it KILLS the other 17 colognes I have, which includes brands like Bvlgari, Burberry, and Givenchy. Just be aware that some men also don't like how it smells on them. They discontinued wearing it, even though they did admitted to receiving lots of compliments from wearing it. So, it kind of depends on what your husband is willing to wear. I'm going to save up and by myself 2 backup bottles!
@bboyhwoarang5 the "whiskey" notes don't contain any alcohol it's more or a barrel/ woody whiskey smell.
ok, just tried this out for a few days and to be honest i wasnt blown away! Its just a lighter version of the original but with a whiskey top note. On my skin it lasted only 4/5hours and after about 2hours the projection was like zero! They only way people could smell it was if i put my wrist in there face or they hugged me. Yes it smells ok,but for me i was very disapointed. The original Amen i feel is far better AND projects more AND lasts a hell of a lot longer!
I picked this up from an Australia only online store for $110AUD delivered (the company is in a different state). Not sure if it's a good deal or not but all our fragrance retailers here don't have it and some of the people there haven't even heard of pure malt. So hopefully I got a good deal lol! What do you think man?

1.How long does it take to dry down? Well when i first spray this...if i sniff from a distance i smell a very strong,unappealing,almost headache giving smell,but if i get right up to my wrists and smell it smells like berries covered in sugar and chocolate and it just smells Amazing. would tht b the dry dwn scent? 2.So When it does dry down, does it get very "straight to the point"sweet, or does it maintain that strong top note ? 3. dry down project well?

I went to a store here in Cleveland looking for Pure Malt and didn't find it. They had Angel Man without the flask...If I find it and like it would buy an extra bottle and give it away....its always nice to be nice to others!

i wore this a few times now, and i seem to get less and less of those top notes of berries. First time i wore it they lasted a bit, now tho they just seem to go almost instantly, like in 2 minutes and the smokiness kicks in
