THIS IS THE BEST COVER I HAVE HEAD OF ONE OF THE GREAT SOUL SONGS EVER, SHELBY YOU,V KILLED IT GIRL. PEACE AND LOVE TO YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S. 🙏✌️😎🏴
This is one of the best versions I've ever heard. I can't understand why it doesn't have millions of views. Speaking as a guitar player, It would be nice if the video were more clear so I could see what their hands are doing. But that's life.
Shelby nails this one for sure ! .Tony Joe probably wrote this song well before Shelby was even born , but you would think he wrote it especially for her to sing...two great artists, one great song.
What an Honor to be able to play with this group in the early 60's at the BeachComber in Lake Oswego Oregon. I took the place of a member named Delbert that was inducted into the Army. I don't know how true that was but that was what I was told. There were 4 members at the time and they had been playing at this club for several years. I worked with therm for about a year and a half. It was exciting and the music was phenomenal. I still have my Guitar that I played back then. A 1960 Gretsch Anniversary Special. It was a very important part of my life to spend quality time with these gentlemen. I think about them almost daily and can still hear the cookin jazz-blues that these fine musicians provided. They were very popular with local patrons and musicians. Love these guys ..
Shelby Lynne what an honor to find you singing with Tony Joe White.God Bless you in 2020 hope life is treating you good. I dont know you except for this video. Thanks for sharing and making this video.
What a pairing! Tony stays outta the way, with understated, taste. Shelby's easy restraint invites you in like southern bourbon-brown butter pecan pie.
Personal and charming...lots of soul there, more like a conversation than a performance. I really liked it. Two very talented people being damn Southern.
Nice working duet; catches that down and out vibration, while at the same time levels with the warm rain promise of a renewal, sometime, after the weather passes.
Not terrible overall, but on this cut Shelby is long on "attitude" and short on vocals and her guitar lead is incompetent. She opts for style over substance. There is a difference between laid back and somnolence. Vocals sound druggy, like she is about to nod out. I know she is a good artist with a good voice. Too bad she didnt invest a bit more emotional energy here. Just sayin'.
Back at ya. Too bad that telling it like it is, is such a draaaag for you. I'll get over your finding fault with me, as you have a right to do that, too ;)

yup he wrote the song one year before Shelby was born..
Love her phrasing/inflection. makes any song she sings a Shelby Lynn song
Two of my favorite singers...it doesn’t get any better than the legendary Tony Joe with Shelby. What a low -down, funky duo!

Two cosmic American musicians. So great. Thanks for posting.
Классный дуэт. Два дня назад ютуб поставил их. Тони слушаю давно, а девушку услышал впервые.
So understated and so, so beautiful

I never had Southern bourbon brown-butter pecan pie. I sure would like to though.

As my southern friends would say..Dayam !!!🇨🇦
Beautiful music!
a true gem
2 of my favorites, and love this song.
Love Shelby & been loving Tony for so long.
Good version, she may have struggled with the lead but did a respectable job and sang great
superbe Shelby
Tony is a good man for taking a backseat.
Beautifull
Geweldige live uitvoering door twee top muziekanten.
I love her!!

Fantastic
Awesome!
Love it
awesome
Soft an slow like that Alabama rain. Hurricane ? Mebbe so. Creator said,. " No mo floods from me ! ' Next one, yuz own.
❤️
Fucking WONDERFUL!!! Thank you for sharing this gem
Is that a girl or a guy?
😫
Her voice is so beautiful, but the hard strumming of the guitar drowns her out too much in this version.
TJW must be an angel to play (guitar and harmonica) on such a feeble version of his wonderful song .....just saying.
you need to stop sayin. check out her bio
@@jmack619 I have two of her early albums.
@@lyndamcardle4123 I can't imagine the absolute horror she went through. never goes away.
I think she does a great job, and the music played was probably very much planned, harmonica and all sweetheart
Zero justice done by her for TJW's beautiful song. Look up Brook Benton's version. Now that's really something!
you're not very nice
Everyone interprets songs how they feel them...TJW seems relaxed and cool with it!
If you are gonna mess with a classic do it better...didn't happen here.
Screw you, I'm fr Texas. This gal knows what she's doing.Great version of a great song.😎🇨🇱
Could have been great. The guitar distracts from her voice and the song.
You people have got Cha head up ur ass. S.L. really nails it!! Keep it up sweet heart 💓🎶😎🇨🇱

You're an expert--at finding fault. Not that you don't have a right, but what a draaaaag you are.
Back at ya. Too bad that telling it like it is, is such a draaaag for you. I'll get over your finding fault with me, as you have a right to do that, too ;)
"Like it is"? To YOU. You are just you, nothing more. Your opinion is just yours. Not "like it is."
Not to "draag" this out longer than necessary, your opinion is just yours, also. So be it. Be well. Adios.
I like Shelby Lynne just fine and I don't disagree. It is not terrible overall but he ain't wrong otherwise, either. .
Shelby Lynne’s sloppy guitar solo ruined this Brooks Benton classic for me. Should have left the lead parts to the professional Tony Joe White.
Poor you. It was ruined.
No. I'm not doing the hate talk.
Roy dout u can do any better! If u could ,.. it would be posted. S.L sweet heart keep it up.😎🇨🇱🎶
Hangin' out on the porch with her wife-beater on ? Waitinl' fp yp money -makka ? Total capital a-hole
you are.
@@TheVeek192 I can't help myself, sometimes.
Afraid not, lacks feeling and genuine interpretation of the TJW lyrics.
