One of those songs I have trouble performing without crying. I don't know how Shelby did it, but she sure nailed it. The notes aren't perfect in this rendition in a few places, but they're real, and this was Lennon at his most real as a songwriter. She's one heck of a singer.

I was thinking the same thing! She’s pretty tough but not many people could have got through what they went through or this song! She’s incredible in my opinion!

She sports a different hair style and emphasizes different parts of the song. It is compelling to go back and forth between the 2 versions. Wish I had the link. May return with it later. Best to you.

This is on opening of each episode of "Better Things," in 2020 80th John Lennon benefit concert Shelby Lynne does yet another rendition, and she has a younger sister who also is a singer. Her sister, Allison Moorer, wrote a book and does some singing songwriting on her own. They also did a record together.

Also saw the Eva Cassidy performance channel, after we both read that comment about a new documentary posted. 3 other leads: @Chris Stern has a channel with his own performance of a song "When I'm Gone" AND he posted an instrumental by UK guitarist Martin Simpson titled (approximately ?)"She Slips Away" - sublime. Chris Stern turned up in comment dialog with me, in that pen pal community Songs From Home Episode 52 of Mary Chapin Carpenter's. He and I tag teamed the religious fire and brimstone damnation commenter last week. The 3rd musical share from me is more jazz/ cabaret. Nancy LaMott. Another alto or contralto ranged with a reedy quality to her vocals. Love her. She did not live forever, but I have every CD she made, while yt has some live shows to add. (She did not write songs, but her pianist did compose some originals for her.)
