- A walk around the MOD at Rhydymwyn, which you a pass to enter, was v very interesting and somewhere I will need to book onto the guided underground tours as & when they are published. After this, we ventured into the woods walking towards Mold to see the abandoned railway & trucks. Shame about the graffiti, but unfortunately part of everyday life wherever you go these days.
One of those locomotives is a rare survivor of WW1 very rare it needs to be recovered and restored Originally they had a petrol engine and were used close to the front lines brining supplies forward it’s quite a find
Absolutely agree. Fantastic history, but such a shame to be left abandoned in the woods.
Great edit and fun day out!
Cheers Dan, it was a great venture around the area, cheers.👍
That stuff should be salvaged and preserved.
Yes, I agree. Terrific historical value and would grace any museum 😏
The narrow gauge railway was built and run by a group of local enthusiasts and fully operational for a number of years. My understanding is that the farm, which also owned the woods, changed hands and the new owner refused access to the railway and the rolling stock. So rather than being voluntarily abandoned, these items could not be accessed for use or removal, in time, these have been stripped of parts that were light enough to be removed. I have photos including parts of the track which have substantial trees growing between the rails, so the remains have been here for a significant number of years.
@@harveymutch4158 very interesting, thank you for the info👍
Wow Amazing find!
Thank you very much 🙏👍😊
@@Asneakypreview-rr2di You are welcome!
Amazing, personally I think that the "patina" on this equipment is great. Mechanically restored it could be a "Rat Rod" railway. To me the nostalgia is lost if everything is restored to a like new condition. 👍
Yes true Shawn. Interesting thoughts and idea, thanks for watching🙏👍
Damn how narrow is the rail gauge there?
Any advice on how to get there?
Simplex train
Quite a few Simplex loco's
Where is it? What was it? It interests me……
Hi Ian, it is situated in the woods between Rhydymwyn & Mold in North Wales. Some believe it was used for transportation of the mustard gas from the MOD depot at Rhydymwyn & the Factory in Mold, but not 100% sure to be honest.👍
Funny how they say "These tunnels are empty",... hmm. Ohk, so why barricade them??. Hiding something from the public
Hay lawrie mechanical marvels these wheels are designed for your trains
When k came to this vid there was 69 likes:)
Although it would be nice to get more appreciation for the videos, it doesn’t really bother me too much as it may do for others. It is a bit strange, for the want of a more appropriate phrase though that two videos have gone nuts compared to the usual average viewing figures for this small channel. Thank you for your interaction & comment, much appreciated 🙏👍

Yes,I thought it looked like armour plating & totally agree it should be recovered & cared for in bringing it back to life so to speak. Thanks for watching & your interaction Phil, much appreciated 🙏👍
